A single slowflake hit the pavement and a southern driver spun out of control and smashed into a light pole at 35 mph. Edit: well, the rusty underside proves my theory wrong.
I would have liked to have seen a stand alone video on just the yellow car being repaired, I am sure that other people watching YT would find that really interesting.
This hits home... After just a week of owning my dream car (Skoda Octavia VRS) a hit and run driver almost totalled my car, car's worth is arround 20 k over here and the totall repairs are nearly 10 k, but it's fixable, it's the exact same damage your beautiful Golf R has/had. Only thing is the opposite party, who we luckily found, are giving us a very hard time with stalling necessary paperwork so i can finally get what they ow me, my money, sadly the car is already 2 months away from me. I bought it to fullfill a long dream of mine and also, to help get my sick grandma to the hospital and such, it breaks my heart not only for the car wich i love like no car i ever loved, but also for my sick grandma, because now i can't really help her with anything related to getting here where she needs to be😢. Life's a struggle sometimes, but hey... We will get through this, somehow, eventually.. Thanks for this video and sorry for the bad English and long story, had to get this off my chest after watching this video. Greets from Belgium.
I'm really excited that Pauly D has added body work to the Shop Dap install experience. I ordered a bunch of body panels, excited to have him come over and install them!
Im so excited, im buzzing right now cuz this is the dream build of any Golf R owner for sure. Come on Charle it's going to be epic. Tks to filming all that stuff for us !
I’m excited to see the rest of this, but you can tell Juan is an artisan. It’s about the craft, not him, and he’s genuinely excited to showcase it for you. Great episode.
Charles, I have say I love all of your videos, the attention to detail you put into every car, the quality of work. Really motivating to get back to my project! Thanks as always
Charles! What an epic video - so fun to watch and what an exciting adventure you've embarked on. The intro was 10/10 straight out of a Hollywood movie too. Keep it up!
Great video as always Charles! Juan is the real deal - love his attention to detail. I've worked for OEMs in the mfg plant for almost 28 years now, in the paint shop, and in the seam sealing area specifically. Always remember - brush/squeegee INTO the seam, not away from it!
The bodywork details, especially the glued & welded panels were really interesting to see. So glad to see this poor yellow car get it's shape back. That paint machine was fun by itself.
So luckily for you, VW and Audi interior, most parts, are plug and play. The seats just need a re-pin for the connector is bam all done. If you don’t have something the RS3 has then you just need to run power to that wire. Most do it through the cigarette lighter. I want S4 seats in my Jetta that has heated manual adjustment seats and that’s literally all I have to do to make it work like factory.
Looking forward to this transition. Everyone wants a more rare ride with unique setup. As much as they love to insult, Scotty he has a lot of wisdom within some of the things he says in his defense. Having worked in a body shop for a few years the body shop work and prep was/is tope tier. Big ups to Juan and his staff.
This will be a great build to watch, enjoy and learn from. Love it when you two work on a build together, such a great vibe which shows in the great content.
Never was a big fan of panel beating and painting but in my older age im truly into it. great video guys... ALL the best with the new shop to the big guy as well.
Glad you'll be able to keep the seats. Please try and salvage the dash. I love the hide away screen in those Audi's versus how they look now and even compared to our MK7.5 R's.
As a VW Golf GTI owner for 15+ years I am impressed by the way they are put together. Glue, weld, seam sealer. I didn't know there was a glue that could be spot welded through - very nice.
Juan is the man us car guy's can put our trust in. Absolutely superb workmanship coming off him! There are so many thing's I've paid good money for and been disappointed. God bless you guys and this journey!
Fantastic video as usual Charles!!!! Brings me back to the winter that I worked at the Pittsboro Body shop. I went from painters helper to an apprenticeship in body mechanics and the biggest job they had me do was a rear quarter on a 2008 subaru impreza. Very similar process in making sure everything was pulled out and then taking things back and finding more damage getting the parts and fitting them in place and cutting what was needed then prep and spot welding and seam sealing. Congratulations on getting your baby back and i cant wait to see the rest of the series ❤ 👍🤙
This is what I do in part for a living in the uk. I stick to non structural, but this year we are moving to a bigger shop and will do Cat S too. It’s one of the most satisfying things when the car comes in gets done and goes out perfect ready for someone else to bond with it and make some more memories. Plus, profit is great😅
Collision repair shops are a league of their own, especially good ones like this. The work involved in even a minor fender bender is crazy. Just recently had work done on my MK8 after a MINOR rear end accident to my vehicle and it's mind boggling how much work was involved to make the car finally good again. The shop didn't do great work and it took many many trips back to finally rectify it.
This Golf R series of yours is going to be exciting, interesting and challenging all together. I cant wait for the next chapter as you are going to need to arm yourselves with skills and patience to make this swap happen. Way to go Charles !
I enjoyed every minutes of this video, you and Paul are my favourite youtubers! Juan did a professional repair of the car, like how it shall be done according to the manufacturer's specification!
Can’t wait for this to continue. I remember when I first saw this car when I visited NC at apex for a toy drive and met you and Juan for the first time both of you guys were cool as hell!
I was so excited to wake up and see this today. Can’t wait to follow along for more updates and watch this get finished. And it’s definitely not “just a Golf”. It’s a Spektrum car so kudos for saving it.
Charles and Paul are one of very few UA-camrs who I specifically turn my Adblock off for. Loving the content. One thing I’ve been dying to see from them is a good Touareg series like this 😢
Hey Charles.. fellow RS3 owner here. Just something to keep your eye on as you swap over the RS3's drivetrain. Mines also a 2018 with similar miles around 75k. Make sure you check the health of the rear differential before you put it in. Mine failed right at 70k miles and had to be replaced. I have never beat on my car. it's been stock since I drove it off the lot with 0 miles on it and and I serviced the differential at 50k miles. Im not sure how many other RS3 owners have the kind of mileage on their cars. Im going to guess not many. So im not sure if this is going to be a common issue going down the road for the RS3, or if mine was just unlucky but its worth mentioning. The dealer that replaced it under warranty never gave me an answer on what exactly failed on it, they just pulled the fluid and it was full of metal flakes. Im assuming a bearing failed internally because it would just make a constant low grumbling or "bass" noise at low to mid speed under light acceleration sounded very similar to if both rear wheel bearings had been bad. Good luck with the swap! I'm excited to follow the series!
Whats your best guess on how the RS3 got smashed????
Motorcycle crash maybe.
Too much power from the single 80mm turbo
Overconfident in the wet and went sideways into a pole/tree
This is starting to be the thing that makes the most sense! I LIKE IT@@Jsbs1991f

Edit: well, the rusty underside proves my theory wrong.
This Bodyshop dude is the real deal! i wish he would have his own UA-cam channel.
He posts a ton on IG
Came here to say exactly this! Juan is so cool!
Ya, brand new shop with a set of super high end tools, and he clearly knows what he’s doing 👍🏻
I would have liked to have seen a stand alone video on just the yellow car being repaired, I am sure that other people watching YT would find that really interesting.
Why doesn't this count?

Greets from Belgium.
Never seen a proper body shop do it's thing but honestly that was some amazing work. Props to the guy
This is so far the best series I’ve seen on UA-cam hands down. Awesome work Charles , Juan , Ryan and Paulie D.
This is a good series, but there’s this little known guy named Matt Armstrong that makes some fun videos too 😁!
"800 year old experienced mechanic saying that the 1992 toyota celica is the best car ever made" 👀👀😂😂😂 nice one
;)
Shoots fire 😂😂😂😂😂
Its true so you better get ready to rev up your engine😊
True. Like the 800 year old experienced mechanic!

@14:30 someone took a shot at Scotty 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is why you don't buy a Volkswagen or Audi endless money pits *insert picture of laughing horse*
I'm really excited that Pauly D has added body work to the Shop Dap install experience. I ordered a bunch of body panels, excited to have him come over and install them!
Sorry I would but I have a hair appointment that day…
Pauly D is the Akira Nakai of the VAG world
I think this series is going to take your channel to the next level. Absolutely loving it!!!
Such an amazing episode, everyone involed, the projects everything, thanks guys!
Juan is the real deal. You can tell in the way he applies the sealer he definitely knows wtf he’s doing.
As someone that see a lot of repair work I love seeing that the under panels have been painted proper before the exterior panel
Love seeing HM and Pauly D working together!
Im so excited, im buzzing right now cuz this is the dream build of any Golf R owner for sure. Come on Charle it's going to be epic. Tks to filming all that stuff for us !
Dont know what I enjoyed more; Charles' enjoyment or Juan's craftsmanship.
lol it’s Juan for sure. And I’m good with it. You’ll get to see me do my thing next ;)
I’m excited to see the rest of this, but you can tell Juan is an artisan. It’s about the craft, not him, and he’s genuinely excited to showcase it for you. Great episode.
Best video dropped in the internet today
Some of the best work I’ve ever seen done on that yellow golf , that’s guys amazing at what he does 👌👌👌
Charles, I have say I love all of your videos, the attention to detail you put into every car, the quality of work. Really motivating to get back to my project! Thanks as always
Your production value on this series is so high! This should be on broadcast TV. Bravo
thank you! My video guy Ray CRRUSHED IT
Charles! What an epic video - so fun to watch and what an exciting adventure you've embarked on. The intro was 10/10 straight out of a Hollywood movie too. Keep it up!
Love how charles always verbally signs paul up for stuff and paul always makes it clear that he will not do anything lmao
That bodyshop is the perfect mix of skills with some of the best tools available👌
This R is gonna be a dope little psychopath. Also, 30:09 the headliner falling off is peak VW life right thurr
gotta love an auto body professional that does things the right way.
excited to see the daza roaring in that thing.
Great project/series! Always love a Pauly D and Humble Mechanic collab, haha. Cant wait for the next episode
lets go! coffee in hand, great way to start a sunday!
Yer boy Juan is crazy talented and good on camera. Cant wait for this build series. Definitely a forever car. I’m peanut butter and jealous
I love RS3s! excited for this swap, definitely cool to see the finesse involved with body work on the VW, I had no idea they were glued and welded.
That body work looks fantastic! Well done 😊
Juan is the man! Down to earth and looks like he knows his stuff
Super keen for the next part.
Great video as always Charles! Juan is the real deal - love his attention to detail. I've worked for OEMs in the mfg plant for almost 28 years now, in the paint shop, and in the seam sealing area specifically. Always remember - brush/squeegee INTO the seam, not away from it!
I really look forward to the joint videos you guys make. Truly top shelf material. Informative, funny, entertaining. Thanks to both of you
Juan's work is IMMACULATE
What a masterpiece this video is. Enjoyed every bit of it. Great job guys!
Very cool that you were able to connect with someone that is experienced enough and willing to work with you on the proper repair.
ChazzaaaaaaH (Australian for Charles)
You're a freekin legend maate.
Love videos like this, especially when they are edited to perfection.
The bodywork details, especially the glued & welded panels were really interesting to see. So glad to see this poor yellow car get it's shape back. That paint machine was fun by itself.
Setting the tone for a great (re)build series to come. Keep it up guys! 👏

This was great content! I can tell this is going to be a great series! I will learn a lot throughout this process
A video with Paul is always a good time. Such attention to detail at the body shop, Juan is awesome.
This will be a great build to watch, enjoy and learn from. Love it when you two work on a build together, such a great vibe which shows in the great content.
What a great body shop guy 😁 well done job. And as a VW guy my self collecting old mk1 golfs and mk1 caddys. I just love your videos, awsome stuff❤
love the high-tech body shop ! excellent work.
Saw the short, loved the vid. Definitely excited to see the finished build❤️
Something so satisfying about a nice clean/new shop
23:20 Paul is the kinkiest seatbelt one could have installed. Charles can't get over.
That's the kind of solid friendship that we all should have!
it is NOT just a golf! it's a work of art
Been waiting for this series. SO HYPED!
Juans body shop looks absolutely epic. Well done him. A lot of money and sweat went into that. Epic.
Good editing.
I am SO excited for this project!!!! Looks great so far!
Never was a big fan of panel beating and painting but in my older age im truly into it. great video guys... ALL the best with the new shop to the big guy as well.
Epic series, you & Paul are such good value. Can't wait for you 2 to tackle the wiring harness!
this build is so sick!!!
ps. Thank you for the recommendation on the sway bars just slapped them on my mk1 TT all smiles for hours.
Glad you'll be able to keep the seats. Please try and salvage the dash. I love the hide away screen in those Audi's versus how they look now and even compared to our MK7.5 R's.
Won’t be possible to use the RS3 cluster
As a VW Golf GTI owner for 15+ years I am impressed by the way they are put together. Glue, weld, seam sealer. I didn't know there was a glue that could be spot welded through - very nice.

Loving this process!
After following this saga on socials for so long, this video makes it all look like this was a weeks worth of work 😂
Your cooperative vids with Paul are so funny. Nice going, can't wait to see part two!
Very very cool video. Really enjoyed it. Thanks ❤
This will be a great project, Charles! That engine is pretty sweet and begs for some mild upgrades. 6-700 is no problem, for sure! Juan is a master!
One of the best chanels now, thanks Charles

Amazing body shop work, that was impressive to watch. ❤
Great video as always. Love the back and forth with Paul and the attention to detail when showing the body shop footage.
Awesome! Can’t wait for next ep, 5 pot golf r’s are sweet!
Excited for this project, love the editing style of switching between both cars! Can’t wait to see it done!
Probably my favorite DAP/Humble Mech video to-date.

The wheels on the audi are by far the best wheels for an audi! Great stuff as always Charles!
Very professional Charles i love this video
One of my favorite car channels on UA-cam 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
real cool transition at 28:55
This Golf R series of yours is going to be exciting, interesting and challenging all together. I cant wait for the next chapter as you are going to need to arm yourselves with skills and patience to make this swap happen. Way to go Charles !

THANK YOU!!!

Can’t wait for this to continue. I remember when I first saw this car when I visited NC at apex for a toy drive and met you and Juan for the first time both of you guys were cool as hell!
i would 100% watch juan doing bodywork all day
Yes, it's finally here, and been patiently waiting! Just finished work with a brew in hand. Cheers!
Amazing series!
That is a state of the art shop with all that equipment. Even the best shops around I've never seen that stuff. Good hands.
I was so excited to wake up and see this today. Can’t wait to follow along for more updates and watch this get finished. And it’s definitely not “just a Golf”. It’s a Spektrum car so kudos for saving it.

both production quality and content itself are on another level with this series
Whats so dope about these swaps is everything can swap over. Interior and drive its amazing 👏
