Criston Cole murdering a person and punching the future king-consort without any consequence is what broke this series to me. I gave up there. The plot will force itself no matter how ridiculous the events are.

Just discovered your channel, binge watching activated. Out of all the HOTD reactors this is by far the most humarious, and that humour can only be the result of a love for the source material, deep understanding of the canon, and GOT the TV series. Why you do not have '1 million' views I do not know, really appreciate the amount of work it must have taken to put these together, I shall share, share, share, you're a hidden gem.

This show is basically a soap opera that somehow manages to be both too slow and too fast at the same time. Characters and scenes try to create the illusion of depth where there actually is none, dialogue and plot seem to repeat themselves without any worthwhile conclusions. (How many times can someone do a dramatic entrance in front of Viserys, making you think it's some sort of plot twist or impactful, just for him to be flabbergasted then everything just moves on business as usual.)
I can't be invested in any of the characters since their "complexity" is just a trick, for ex: "Daemon is soooo complex because he's sometimes cruel and viscous while other times he appears to be caring and considering". Yeah, GoT did that with The Hound, Tywin and Jamie and I'm sure others in just the first season thanks to actually well written dialogue.
Some characters appear and then disappear just as fast but the show wants to make you think they have depth and you should actually care about them (Harwin, Rhea, Laena). No time to develop them at all, just drama for the sake of drama.
All in all, looking back, the only episode I actually liked was the first one for the potential it had and for laying the foundation for some interesting developments and dialogue, which none of the following episodes actually have.
Totally agree with you. I don’t know why the show runners think they’re catering to… it’s not the Game of Thrones-crowd, that’s for sure :(
This is a great summary of why the show feels so… empty to me. It feels like it’s GoT season 6 level of quality. Serviceably good television, but not at all great by any sense of the word. That said, I’m not surprised. The reason the early seasons of GoT were so good was because they had extensive material to go off of which was thought out with a level of thoroughness that takes years. The fact is, most companies which produce television shows aren’t going to invest that level of time and effort. GoT could do it because GRRM already did all the work when he wrote his books.

In the beginning, I didn't think Daemon would make a good king. He chooses violence first over diplomacy the way Daenerys became. He'd be bored with all the small council talk. But the more I think about it, I believe Viserys should've chose Daemon as his heir.
Among the common folks, Daemon is extremely popular. He's known as Lord Flea Bottom for a reason. He turned criminals into law enforcement. He smartly allied himself with the richest House that Viserys ignored.
Rhaenyra does NOT become a good queen. Look how she grew up. She's an only child of Viserys from Aemma's womb. So Rhaenyra grew up like a self-entitled brat. While Daemon being a 2nd son always felt he was passed over. But he also felt he would be a better king than his older brother would become.
If Daemon had been chosen to be the next King, Otto would've never pimped Alicent to him. Daemon would be aware of this move since he hates Otto. I also think Daemon would be a better king had LAENA been his queen.
Laena is a better woman than Rhaenyra. She was the one to change Daemon for the better. She is the daughter of The Queen Who Never Was, and Rhaenys seems like a great and brave woman.
Rhaenys would've been a better ruler had she been chosen over Viserys but sexism reigned during that time. Although who knows? Throne can always corrupt people.
Daemon should've been chosen as the next ruler to prevent this Targaryen civil war from ever breaking out. Not saying Daemon would've been as great as a king as Jaehaerys but he would've been far more accepted by the people than Rhaenyra.
Daemon already established himself as a popular figure among the low lives outside the Red Keep and many soldiers would go to war for him being he's a very popular, charismatic general.

The show should not rely on reading the books to make sense or give characters depth. GoT managed to do that and stand on its own. If you have to read the books to fill in gaps or to give characters actual character or events any meaning, then it's a poorly written show.

You're saying it "stood" on it's own and shone after it ran out of book content to work on? Really? What OP was saying probably was....folks never got into the context of the books before bashing the show. LOL.
@@alexiskaewwaen4020 That's not at all what I said. I agree that post S4 the quality decreased exponentially but, up until that point, you didn't have to read the books to enjoy the show. Characters, plot and events were presented in an entertaining and exceptionally well written manner that, even if they didn't include all the details from the books, you could still enjoy the show thoroughly and not have to read the books to have a quality product on your hands. That's what I meant that it stood on it's own, no need to gather information from any other media to increase its quality.

Absolutely nothing continues to happen the episodes are just empty screen time, flat characters, constant unnecessary emotional outbursts just cringe!
I didn’t even have time or good material to like anyone before they die I don’t get all those people losing it over harwin’s and laena’s death I mean the bar is that low?
People are actually affected by those deaths? Haha, wow... why? They're just hollow outlines of characters that get killed off to push the plot(?) forward.
