Here’s a video demonstration of repairing a leaky heater core. I read a lot about how to remove the heater core before attempting what I believed would work. Some said remove the dash, some mentioned they had to remove the centre console and passenger seat.
I wasn’t threatened by the stories of how others repaired their heater core. In the video I try things my way with a successful repair. In fact it was so easy that if I had to do it again it would take minutes to remove the heater core.

I’ve got a ‘77 T/A..should be the same. How did it go for you?

I'm about to do this on a 79 Formula. Hopefully I have the same luck you did. Only one thing I don't agree with. If you're going through the trouble of pulling the heater core on a 2nd generation, Why not put a brand new one in?

Cool video!! But sadly most of the second generation came with AC and it's more work to get the heater cores out.

Great vid. Wish I would have seen it before I just bought another core due to hose end pipes.

Not sure what year your car is.. mine is a 1980.. I figured mine was the same .. just the inlet pipes .. probably some fool yanking on the heater hoses too hard in the past. I did decide to have the whole thing re-cored anyways.. a 43 year old car .. ergo core.. was a risk of failure.. and I was NOT going to all this work again ! .. not worth the $ 200 steel re-core or $75 for a cheap aluminum core.

Nice work! Would you consider doing a garage tour? It looks like you're able to do a lot of things in a small space

Would the vehicle having AC affect if you can pull the heater core out that way or not?

      Update-
The heater box is in the way of all of the bolts from the engine side of the firewall so if you are car has AC this does not work for you.

No AC on this car correct?
