    Great video Ryo , I love both of them!!! But anything ADA before Mr. Amano passed away, @:least to me it will always have a special connection! So happy for you that your friend gave you the one you have wanted for a while & that is the 1st time that anyone has ever said not to use co 2 hose on glass co 2 accessories .... In my past I have broke my share and that is how it happened but I never even thought it was from using the hose everyone said to use " always " live and learn 💙💚

    Very cool!!!
    I personally also like the bettle counter better... even though they are both made of glass, this one seems to be more robust.
    But the input and output of the new one have more logic, because it has a continuity and in practice it seems to me that it is more useful to have the input and output at different ends.

    The twist one is my fave, slim and elegant. Price is premium so i would stick to the 4 dollar clear one any day, maybe the twist on a main attraction just to spice it up.

    I don't think we should downplay aesthetics in freshwater bc why not enjoy something and have crazy looking stuff? I usually am not too fond of what comes out but I think most people could 'decorate' their tanks more and make it more enjoyable I just usually tend to lend towards natural looking stuff but fancy glass pieces are always nice.

    I like the beetle one best. Plus it being discontinued just adds to the "coolness" factor. That thing is a must have if you are a fan of seeing art, design and engineering all intersect into one thing.

    Ive always enjoyed the look and performance of the Takashi Amano beetle counter, However the Twist counter is slim and easy to "fill", and attach to your aqaurium. Great video 👍

  • @codyshowalter583

    The classic beetle counter is such a beautiful design but the new twist counter is as well, but I still prefer the look of the beetle counter over it. With that said these are products I only ever enjoy in videos and when visiting ADA stores or galleries. I move around for work so not a practical item for me, I would stress over breaking one if I had it. I always just go for efficiency and a minimalist look so I use the style of bubble counter that is attached to the co2 regulator, it is affordable, works great, durable, and out of sight from the aquarium.

    I personally don't like to use glass (except the tank of course). It is prone to breakage, plus the dangers of glass pieces injuring your fingers. I had one of the glass diffusers exploding in the tank due to blockage of the sintered glass and too much pressure (above 5 bar). What a mess it made on the substrate with tiny little pieces of glass to pick out later.

    Definitely want the beetle counter! Can’t find one here in US though...
    Side note: when you were talking about the counter on the island themed tank with hygrophila pinatifida/Anubias nano petite, I kept thinking how difficult it must be for maintenance as the hard scrape was pretty close to the wall and there’s also ?Colorado sand, yet it’s spotlessly clean!
    Great video as alway!

    • @RyoWatanabee
      @RyoWatanabee  2 роки тому

      Thanks. I used to work at that shop and that’s honestly the easiest tank to maintain. The rocks are really not that close to the glass. They always use the pro razor to clean it so it’s quite easy. And also not many plants to trim and it’s mostly slow growing. Also, it’s the longest running tank in the store, running like that for 5+ years

    Bit late to the video but I have my likes and dislikes on both. My like on the beetle is that it is one piece and doesn't move around on the inside and how wide it is, my dislike on it is the 90 degree at the top. My like on the new twist is the lack of 90 angles, but my dislike is that the inside isn't one full piece as the price is the same. I'm sure it is easier to make but costs just as much so that doesn't make sense to me. The only other twist you didn't mention is some are built into the diffuser. I was personally going to go with both a twist and built into the diffuser because I like the looks.

    But $100 for a fragile glass toy versus the far more robust and equally effective $4 option?
