Brilliant. SG barely took even a moment for thought, and then launched into this comprehensive explanation that covered EVERYTHING implied by the question. The explanation appears to have been wholly created in his mind in an instant. It was well considered and well organized. A masterpiece of exposition executed on the spur of the moment. I suppose that is what happens after years of just doing it.
Just the fact that Sad Guru talks of demolishing the questioner reeks of arrogance!! People have genuine questions. If our so called guru is so enlightened, he would do well to answer as best as he can. Making fun of someone does not behove well for a guru. To me he's just a charlatan.

For me... time is only part of the 3rd dimension that is limited by time and space, which are both part of the same. In the material/3D dimension we can perceive things little by little, second y second... But 4th dimensional things can be perceived by our mind from the future or past, they are seen at once in the 4th dimension where time doesn't exist and space doesn't make sense. When you say "the beginning" That's only part of 3rd dimension which have time. The beginning is the start of only the 3rd dimension, and is hard for our material brains to comprehend a dimension with no time.
Existence itself is timeless i think. Time was just implemented to measure and keep track. Existence is a constant timeless happening where there is no beginning or end; because there was something , or the void, happening “before” the beginning.

The Sadhguru's reply was evasive, and questioning the motive of the questioner was not expected from the wise man.

Its ok if no one ever answered but someday the aswer is surely gotten. We must not be impatient and our own research and seeking from intellectual persons must be continued with humility and calm mind till the satisfiable answer or information is achieved.
Any question has an answer. It should not be a problem to the speaker to answer the question. Speaker need not snub the the person who has placed the question. If you are an "eternal" being, why would you have a beginning? The question asked by the young Buddhist indicates he knows little about his path. This point is covered in the suttas. Any knowledgeable teacher would know the answer. However, dwelling on this question is an impediment to awakening. Contrary to Sadhguru, vipassana IS asking questions, but the right questions. Those are questions about your beliefs and comparing them to the Dhamma. Vipassana must be balanced by samatha. It is normal to ask, "What was my origin?" But, it is not a helpful question if your intent is to awaken.

Being straight and blunt makes you the greatest guru alive to begin with. Perhaps one of the greatest ever! Your honesty is awesome, your wisdom and knowledge are awesome and your willingness, no joy in sharing it, is awesome! People feel connected, you speak to each and every one in a hall of hundreds and no one feels left out or neglected. Whenever you sense the slightest barrier while teaching, you effortlessly (so it seems) find a different approach to make sure your words are clear and confuse no one. Your audiences are in awe of you, but it is joyful awe if that makes sense. You give people joy in their own existence; they matter.... and they leave with hope! Thank you, Sadhguru!
It was a great question....so profound that the audience went quiet for a moment and then started applauding. I think the answer can be found in a video by Mr. Hans Wilhem called "Spirit, soul and human being". Here he explains that we were all pure, selflessly loving spirit beings residing in heaven world but due to our desire or karma, for e.g. thinking of being equal to God or selfishness, we fell to a lower realm and were called fallen souls. The tendency of any being is to return to home, so to expedite our return to heaven world the fallen souls are given opportunity to reduce their karmic burden through human body. The soul cant suffer so can't get rid of karmic burden. But if it enters human body, then it can reduce karmic burden through suffering so that its return to heaven world is expedited. It makes sense too, because when one himself suffers he easily empathizes with sufferings of others and tries to help them. Many of the NGOs or individuals who strive to help the society have themselves, or their loved one, suffered. So by helping others they can reduce their karmic burden.
Every word you utter syncs in me so easily! I seem to flow with your energy so smoothly that even without meeting you in person, I still feel so much connected with you❤
Yes, yes!!! Just Do It!!! (I doubt Nike understood it on this level!) When thinking about things I have done that I did not understand previous to doing it, without any instruction, I realize that the act of doing it gave me an understanding that questions and answers could never have explained, and that could not possibly match the level of understanding I attained from "just doing it". Instructions given in words and pictures are not enough to give a proper understanding. This is why the ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphs - they are NOT a primitive form of language, but a "language" that represents what words and sentences cannot, and the great thing about hieroglyphs is that each time a person "reads" them, the MORE they get from them. Back in ancient times, a person learned more and more from the same hieroglyphs the older they got. Giving instruction to someone who thinks they know everything takes many more hours to get them to the place where people who don't assume they know everything are already at.
To the person who asked the question: You asked a question Lord Buddha has preached us not to ask. We have been born innumerable times that it is very difficult to find the beginning of our being. So Lord Buddha asked us to try to understand reality of life and attain Nirwana. When you do attain Nirwana, you will realize that you do not need the answers to these questions anymore. And karma is a deep subject matter that we lay people do not understand completely. Only and Only a Buddha is able to explain the complete process of Karma. If wish to know how a life come to being, Lord Buddha has explained starting of the life in Indaka Suthra Read Agganna Suthra. You will find the answer to the question how the world came to be.
I disagree that a certain question can't be asked. That's what the other religions mandated from their followers, everything stop with God. It is said that the day when you are borned, the day of conception, are not your birthday. You are there already. Keep practice meditation and mindfulness, right actions, rightthoughts, etc, obtain nirvana...your question will be self explanatory!
Buddha never said ' just do it '. He said, ' do it if u find it to be true by your own experiences'. 'Atta deep bhava' means be 'your own lamp'. This statement gives freedom to mind to ask and seek or self development or self study. The questioner should not have said that ' everyone said no one could ever answer it'

Sadhguru still answered the question. He still took time and suggested the questioner to practice Vipassana and realize ones self. I think we are so fortunate to hear through a living Buddha.
After many years of practicing meditation, the questions disappeared from my mind because I started to understand who I am (and there is nothing extraordinary about it). The closer we get to our real essence the more we feel at peace and stop being curious because there is an inner peace that is all that really matters. Vipassana Meditation teaches us self transformation through self observation. This aim is achievable through noble silence. In this process unnecessary questions can be hindrance but one is free to ask any question related to the technique to the teacher. In the evening session Respected Goenka Guruji explains in detail what and why one is doing. There is no blind faith involved. So to say Vipassana means don't ask any question, just sit and do it, is totally wrong. In fact it is the most scientific and free from any sectarianism. These kind of questions may sound highly intellectual but are impotent to transform oneself or help him towards Nibbana, therefore Vipassana teachers don't give them any importance. Dear sir. I have never heard any Buddhist teacher of the Theravada tradition say "Vipassana practice means you must just shut up and do it . Certainly there are no suttas in the Pali Canon that say this. Please do not slander the Buddha in such a way. @ Glenn derrick Your comment reminds me of this story ... A senior monk and a junior monk were traveling together. At one point, they came to a river with a strong current. As the monks were preparing to cross the river, they saw a very young and beautiful woman also attempting to cross. The young woman asked if they could help her cross to the other side. The two monks glanced at one another because they had taken vows not to touch a woman. Then, without a word, the older monk picked up the woman, carried her across the river, placed her gently on the other side, and carried on his journey. The younger monk couldn’t believe what had just happened. After rejoining his companion, he was speechless, and an hour passed without a word between them. Two more hours passed, then three, finally the younger monk could contain himself any longer, and blurted out “As monks, we are not permitted a woman, how could you then carry that woman on your shoulders?” The older monk looked at him and replied, “Brother, I set her down on the other side of the river, why are you still carrying her?”

If we all think about the beginning, there will be no beginning. Because if there is a beginning, we will still question about the time before that.
Right
Exactly! One can even question creation and the creator. What was there before and what created the creator.
For me... time is only part of the 3rd dimension that is limited by time and space, which are both part of the same.

Dear Guru Ji,
Greetings!!!
Without you, it could never be possible to understand science & spirituality all together!
I like the peaceful atmosphere of that place. It's so soothing 🧡
So by helping others they can reduce their karmic burden.
i am surprised their are many questioners to sadhguru..and many of them asks very beautifully in a calm and kind way..
Every word you utter syncs in me so easily! I seem to flow with your energy so smoothly that even without meeting you in person, I still feel so much connected with you❤
It's because you ate magic shrooms, isn't it?
If wish to know how a life come to being, Lord Buddha has explained starting of the life in Indaka Suthra
Read Agganna Suthra.
@@ratanaun2960 Well my friend, agree with you with the part you said keep practising. May you attain Nibbana.
hope you find my Answer-comment to that question !!
Amali mapa, with most respect i am asking this, how can you say only Buddha can answer that ?
Ok
Buddha never said ' just do it '. He said, ' do it if u find it to be true by your own experiences'. 'Atta deep bhava' means be 'your own lamp'. This statement gives freedom to mind to ask and seek or self development or self study. The questioner should not have said that ' everyone said no one could ever answer it'

Sadhguru still answered the question. He still took time and suggested the questioner to practice Vipassana and realize ones self. I think we are so fortunate to hear through a living Buddha.

The most incredible thing is that you can know everything you wish to know with your eyes closed.
George Harrison?
In that case, you won't know what you don't know..
That is true because the whole universe comes from the mind
who are you?
After many years of practicing meditation, the questions disappeared from my mind because I started to understand who I am (and there is nothing extraordinary about it). The closer we get to our real essence the more we feel at peace and stop being curious because there is an inner peace that is all that really matters.
During meditation, even in the lesser states of consciousness, the questions dissolve. And in the deepest states of consciousness, doubts do not survive. No question can be asked and all the answers are given.
Ty for this
We appreciate u Sadhguruji for taking people for a ride .. May god bless all of us...
Question was just like who came first
The egg or the chicken
It was the chicken chicken didn't lay eggs before they evolved to laying eggs. It was the evolutionary process. From Dinosaurs Birds came then chicken then eggs it was an Evolutionary process. You can google this Birds are living form of Dinosaur era flying Dinosaur's survived and evolved into birds to survive. I am not saying i know everything but to my knowledge and understanding chicken came first just like babies didn't came first it was the human form that evolved first.

There is no chanting of any word or name or mantra, no any visualisation, it teaches one to be an observer of his thoughts and sensations objectively.
These kind of questions may sound highly intellectual but are impotent to transform oneself or help him towards Nibbana, therefore Vipassana teachers don't give them any importance. If one's aim is to have spiritual entertainment then internet is full of these things. From this video it seems that prejudice is not the monopoly of common man only.
we are all common each one of us! Sadhguru is a witty guy who has to keep his followers amused, thats all!He aint what he claims! and common sense is required to see through it,thats all
If you careful observe your own comment it shouts "shut up and do it "
No sectarianism No Visualisation No chanting . Just observe intensely in absolute silence of mind and body as per your words which means take instructions and shut up and do it.
Oh dear, ,though not a follower of this man, he speaks truthfully..So many questions are indeed asked to show how knowledgeable and experienced the questioner is. The Buddha stood in a forest ,picked up a hand ful of leaves saying this is all one needs to reach enlightenment (the Sattipatana sutra) ,and there are commentaries, and commentaries on the commentaries of how to follow tthis practice .. Just think, what if we just did it, just followed his instructions, how many enlightened people there would be on this planet😄😄😄

Dear sir. I have never heard any Buddhist teacher of the Theravada tradition say "Vipassana practice means you must just shut up and do it . Certainly there are no suttas in the Pali Canon that say this. Please do not slander the Buddha in such a way. Even a brief survey of the Buddhist suttas (at least those which are also accepted in Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions) will reveal multiple instances where the Buddha both asked and answered questions.
it's just a way of intensive expression, dont take it too seriously.
The Buddha cannot be slandered. Only the ego can be slandered. Correct?

Your comment reminds me of this story ...
Two more hours passed, then three, finally the younger monk could contain himself any longer, and blurted out “As monks, we are not permitted a woman, how could you then carry that woman on your shoulders?”
The older monk looked at him and replied, “Brother, I set her down on the other side of the river, why are you still carrying her?”
