    Amelie has quite literally changed me. I saw it London two weeks before everything closed down and it was the best feeling I've ever felt. I'm about to say something really cheesy but stay with me. You know those core memories in inside out? This musical is one of those.

    I absolutely adored this musical in London. After listening and watching the Broadway version, I was underwhelmed but the UK version is spectacular. The creativity and beauty of how they craft this show with it's puppetry and actor-musician cast, it's a musical which I hope gets a further life either in London or somewhere else.

    I heard you say children’s productions and I’m like, WHaT??! The movie was rated R. Did they tone it down that much for Broadway?

      There's children's productions of Miss Saigon, this is EASY PEASY for high school theatre.

      @@MusicalswithCheese i don't remember anything r-rated about the movie. Sure they're are deep and mature moments but from what I remember it's pretty tame.

      (Can’t find a clip of this translated, but it basically goes something like how the London script translated it(albeit, just narrated without the visuals of this scene), at the beginning of “The Commute Home(which is a song translation of Amelie's simple hobbies(teaspoon to crack creme brulee, skipping stones, etc.)”:
      “Amelie has gone out a few times, had a few boyfriends, but the results have all been a bit of a letdown”)

      (Also from “The Commute Home" or simply "The Commute(as it's called on Broadway)”. In the Berkley(which is where the production with Samantha Barks actually started, in California(my state), not London) to Broadway runs, the orgasming couples are only heard climaxing at once offstage or/and behind doors rumbling(ala Haunted Mansion) at the back and sides of the stage(and one passerby saying "sorry" in the clear.), while in the London production it sounds like(based on the cast recording, which is all I have to go off of, since I never saw the London production(being on the other side of the globe and all)) there's one woman having multiple heightened moans to represent each couples's orgasm)

      (No Translation again, in fact this is a different dub from the original film altogether, but you get the idea)

      (In the musical, this scene plays off in the background with minimal(London) to no(Broadway) noise or “movement”. Basically, Amelie has Georgette go into the bathroom, then tells Joseph that there’s a “leak in the sink that needs plumbing", "accidentally" spills water on him(not Georgette like in the movie), he rants about women(specifically "Do well all have to die in plane crashes for you to care about us at all?!(referencing Gina, who's plotline has been mashed with that of the old landlord lady's about the pilot husband and his "found letter" that Amelie crafted)") as he marches to the bathroom not knowing what or who he may find, then a few scenes pass like Raphael(Amelie’s papa) coming in to the cafe with postcards of the Gnome(represented by the number "There's No Place Like Gnome", in which the Gnome sings puns of where he's been), (another moment in the London version involving Mr Collingon and Lucien(who’s scenes and subplot have been drastically cut down and rewritten for time(though Lucien does get a song “Three Figs”)), and then Georgette and Joseph come out all frazzled from the “plumbing” to which Joseph either states is “all taken care of”(in the Broadway run) or that "the leak has been plugged"(in the London production), and the scene transitions to either Nino’s number “Thin Air” in the Berkeley to Broadway run, or to Amelie’s “Times are Hard for Dreamers” in the London run.)

      Unless all of this is what you consider “tame”(which I myself understand in my own way, and see as how the U.S.'s Puritan based societal response towards sex, especially with how often and in what ways one has it, tends to leave audiences overly incensed by even the slightest bit of tongue or brief nudity on stage/screen(something I find the likes of "Passion" or "Spring Awakening(and, HOPEFULLY, any possible movie adaptation of it)" trying to combat)) for what I myself consider(and not just from the smile) to be a French female Mr. Bean with backstory and SOME mind about love.

      There’s also plenty of bootlegs of the older versions of the show(specifically of the Berkeley production with Samantha Barks and the Post Broadway production in Los Angeles with Phillipa Soo, (MAYBE a preview of the Broadway run also, if it hasn’t been taken down yet), and a series of bootleg audios of what I believe to be a early preview of the London production(google "Amelie UK bootleg" and look for “I dreamed a dream, horatio”) you can listen to on Google Drive, if you want to see(or hear) what else has changed.
      What should be bared in mind, though, is that there are in fact two recordings of this show:
      The Broadway Cast Recording(which is the one Jess pulled a majority of the audio clips from for this, and one visual when he talked about "Where Do We Go From Here"):

Also which, like Jess, I also prefer the most, both musically and especially as a far more accurate representation of the atmosphere of the film than the Broadway version barely even attempted to be):
