Struggling with PTSD after 14 years of military service at home and abroad. This song is my therapy to rid the demons that haunt me occasionally from the time I served this nation. Peace ✌️
Thank you for everything. I mean it. I tried serving but was medically discharged 2 weeks before graduation. I'm sorry for what you're going through. I haven't personally experienced it but have many in my life who have and I just want you to know there is light ahead and hope for the future.
My grandfather is a Marine apart of the 1st Marine Division and the Frozen Chosin in the Korean War, one of the few that made it home and would cry everytime it was mentioned even 50 years later. Both my older brothers are Marines one of them was apart of the 1st battalion 7th Marine division that attacked Baghdad from the north side in Afghanistan in 2002. He always has PTSD and gets disability for it and wouldn't talk much about the War. I am also a Marine 2009-2013 apart of the 12th Marine division. I never saw combat so I won't attempt to understand what you have gone through or are going through now. All I can say is thank you for your service brother I'm proud to call you my country men. Keep your head down and your dick up and keep pushing forward my good man, much love, respect, and appreciation from the Marines in the south.
I think it was also a "war song" in Iraq, in that time. So you are not wrong about your feeling, I just feel ambushed in Afghanistan with the other soldiers.
I will never forget the day I first heard this song. I was 12 in 2006 and already was considering "ending it". I had it all: A suicide note and a rope under a step stool. I was actually playing the Faceless album cd to hide the noise of what I was doing. As I put the noose around my neck, the last song (Serenity) started playing and I decided to listen to it. Long story short, I am still here and will be turning 28 next month.
I’m glad you are still here. There are many who have felt the same way and found that small reason to just be. I appreciate your presence in the world.
As the song my deceased father requested played at his funeral, I can't help but make a tribute to him every few months with a replay of this song even now over 12 years later.
My boyfriend used to listen to this song soooo looouuudd that at first I didn't understand so it scared me and my kids out of the house but now I understand listening to the words makes me tear up so pure and therapeutic to the soul for anyone who is going through and people don't understand and you want to scream I need senerity! Bless all who listens to this song I love u #Godsmack.
I lost one of my uncles, an aunt and my mother in just 3 months. To covid, heart failure and pancreatic cancer. Godsmack, Sully erna, 5FDP, Ivan moody. Plus, the love of an amazing woman stopped me from turning to a dark place. Love and have an outlet can do wonders.
+BeastyChicken This song reflects each one of us an our soul, and how we have been robbed of our own power and the struggle to take it back atleast in my own opinion, definitely one of the best songs ever recorded.
It amazes me how long I've listened to the song and how even after hearing it for so long so many times that second verse is kind of hard to get through sometimes. Really cuts through in such a simple but profound way.
Music has a power over people. A good band knows this and can control the emotions of the listeners. Godsmack is one of those bands. Upmost respect for them!! AJL5
I was a young teen when this song came out and instantly liked the song due to its unique pace and sound of the time. Over the years I still have days where I randomly sing this to myself. However, it isn't until today where I realized that as an adult, this song resonates with me more than ever before. Going to be 29 in a month, but all of my 20's has been dealing with how to "relight the flame when its cold". The past few months have been the best months of my adult life and I finally feel like I'm getting closer to answering that question in how it relates to me.
Never knew how closely this song fit my life. Hopped into a car with everything I owned that could fit after the death of my father, mother and marriage within 3 years. 2 years, from West Virginia, cross country to Washington with 30 states knocked out between. At 25 i found myself and my serenity in the place I now call home❤
Neil Peart lost his wife and daughter years ago, and went on the road with a bike to deal with it. He wrote a book, then these guys made this song about it. Considering the similar circumstances, and you feeling it, they must have done a good job.
As a recovering heroin addict this song has some crazy memories for me a year and a half clean and I still listing to this, best Godsmack song hands down
Mr. Awesome 0915 it was fun doing it yes...but watching your friends die and tearing your arms, legs, and neck up, missing veins and having blisters from missing said veins, loosing everything I had my job my wife my house and my dog takin away from me, almost dieing about 5 or 6 times from overdosing was not particularly fun. #trollsshouldkillthemselves
When I listen to this.... I feel like a captain of a pirate on the front of a ship riding proudly towards a huge sea battle that will likely take my life. I stand there taking in the last few pleasures life has to offer such as the rising and falling of the waves and the silence and scent of the ocean.
Bla Laa I always visualized the song as being about tribal humans, gathered around a fire as the first sentient thoughts start kicking around in their heads.
I still remember this sing coming out, when I was freshly graduated from high school in the early 2000s. Needless to say, I'm proud to say my disco era of my younger days was awesome.
No mental issues, depression, PTSD, or any other issues - this is just a great song. Of course, it's Godsmack, so it does have that advantage. But if it's done you some good, good.
The strongest loving relationships are the ones with serenity ❤️ in them. It leads to answers and enlightenment along life's journey. Serenity is the closest to real love no matter the type that is the safest to abide. Teaches what family is about and what it should be like. Family and love is the center stone to everlasting life whether coming or going. Love this song. Keep up the great work your doing. You guys are an inspiration to all ages. This band can both sooth the soul or raise the spirit to soar.
This song inspires only what you let it inspire, I don't think of evil or disruptive behaviors. I think of God hearing my prayers as a cry for help with something I can't handle on my own. Praying is better than drinking or using drugs.
I distinctly recall this song playing on the radio one year after 9/11 when I woke up that morning for school. It's a beautiful song but that memory gives me chills...
I grew up listening to like all alternative, rock, punk, classic and have been mainly listening to rhymes for the last few years and just realized how much I've been missing out on. This is vise versa for adults.

Justin listen to this song and compare it to “time bomb” or “bad religion” and you’ll see what I’m talking about lol. This is their softest song they have.
LOVE this song. But personally I sing " when will we learn to let GO" When I try to control and manipulate life how I want it, it's a constant stress and battle. LET GO... Breathe
It hurts to know the pains of heroin withdrawl but for those that are blessed with not knowing that pain, pay attention to the lyrics ; because this is exactly what it feels like.
Word, different people definitely react differently to getting stoned. There have been times where weed has helped me pull out of a funk, and alternatively, times where it's made me content to stay in one.
Tully said this song's sequel is Re-Align and its about how when things are bad New Orleans calls him back and he feels better when he visits the Crescent City. New Orleans is a magical, enchanted city...

It really does
Kinda like an Egyptian beat …

Smoking weed and listening to godsmack is really mindblowing and totally epic. It almost like having spiritual vision of some type. Damn
Another thing to do when your high is to play monopoly backwards then you hear a dead kid
Some songs are more suitable for those types of journeys, this one certainly works for me ;)
john cobain , im stoned right now, decided to scroll through the comments while i listened to this song, came across this comment...whoa...
