I find pretty impressive that this game and this versionin particular was the one that sold the most of all the Harry Potter games, In fact its one of the best selling PS1 games ever selling even more than Crash Bandicoot or Metal Gear solid It was not that good compared to the PC version or even the GBC version, and it was released near the end of the PS1 life span.
Also keeping in mind that the 5 games selling better than this one, were Sony exclusives that got included when you bought a PS1. Crash Bandicoot also got included but still couldn't outsell this game. That's very impressive.
I still remember playing this with my brother when were kids in our cold AC room. I never gets to finish this game coz the joystick seems so hard to press and not function correctly (this game needs so much patience with all the jumping around and clock ticking tingy). But my brother made it far than I did. Phewhhh those sweet memories of good old days.. Still remember it hope until forever. Love you Harry.. #potterheadforever
In my opinion, this version of the game, and the PS1 version of Chamber of Secrets are the best Potter games. The others are good in their own ways, but I haven't played the last three.
God damn the amount of hours in spent on this game haha- although I found this game a hell of a pot more difficult than the PC version. I miss the days when you'd get a unique different experience depending on what platform you got it on!
I like when the games difference slightly from the movies. It's gives it something different that keeps it interesting. And then cost of creating a whole new area in the game, such as Diagon Alley, for the tutorial would have cost quite s sizeable chunk back then, and also time.. which, as you said previously is always a factor. Considering the books were arguably the most well known children's books at the time, and the movie was the most anticipated of the year (bar maybe LOTR), I think it would be fair to say that few people would have being buying the games with the intent of learning the story from it. I think liberties could be taken with the story and they did it well. I do agree with Voldemort not being mentioned at the start though.
I prefer the PC versions of 1-3 although I do have 2 and 3 on PS2. After Goblet of Fire I gave up on the game and the games in the future as Goblet of Fire was such a disappointment for me.
4th one was trash the 5th one innovates a bit, the 6th one was the 5th one once again but with a shit ton of potion lessons, the 7th and 8th were third person shooters.
same here. I grew up with the PC versions, and i love games 1-3 (thought 3 isn't as good, still fun thought less replayabilaty value), no matter how much people critisize them
Real talk, this game was hard at points. I now see that it's actually a very loose game with issues, but at the time I was blissfully ignorant. Loved it. Can't imagine how many hours I played it.
I used to play this game on my ps2 when I was a kid but since it was a ps1 game I could never save it so I either had to try and play the whole game in 1 day/night or leave my ps2 running until I finally finished it. Good times!
would you be willing to review the pc versiona of the first 3 potter games?i know they are not that diefferent, but i really like your reviews and would love to see you review them too :3
+buluhulululu Thanks, I'm glad your enjoying the reviews. I really want to review the HP games on PC, it's just they don't want to run on my PC, so I've been trying to figure out a way around that, hopefully I will get it to work soon.
***** That's the thing - it runs perfectly without having to fiddle with core affinities or anything. I did have massive problems on both Win8.1 and Win10. And no CPU affinity was fixing those problems. I just want him to review the PC games (the first 2 HP games that is, they're so massively different).
My god I hated the incendio mini game for Harry's god awful voice acting, I fucked up nearly every time and had to hear every time "IIIIIIIIIINNNCENDIOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
This review is ridiculous. Play this game and it actually flows perfectly. Its hard to explain but basically the game feels very much as it should and has no technical issues. It also has very good voice acting and some funny challenges. I agree time limits are annoying however.
This is why i love the game remake on game cube! But this ps1 version will always have a special place in my heart from my childhood

Am I the only one that actually likes the silence?
O.o
I enjoyed it too!! Had a creepy vibe to it!
Exactly!

spear401 Totally agree with you there! Chamber of secrets on PS2 was great but I found the PS1 version to me more entertaining.
comment is 4 years old but this game is truly haunting and the silence helps

CoS and PoA on PS2 are probably the best HP games, then comes the 5th and maybe 6th.
god, i used to play this game so much as a kid. probably my favourite game too back then.
I remember playing it as a kid in 2001 as a 12 year old and loved it and one of my favourite classic games
I don't Give a Fuck What you don't like about it THis GAME IS AWESOME Soooo many memories, I loved this game so much
same here.

wariolandgoldpiramid i love pc, ps1 and gameboy color versions most
Nostalgia is a blinding thing
Why is your audio so inconsistent in quality?
Dude no matter what you say this will always be one of my favourite ps1 games, stop being so bitter
Great insightful review! Took me back!
Haven't played this in ages. Good review!
Real talk, this game was hard at points. I now see that it's actually a very loose game with issues, but at the time I was blissfully ignorant. Loved it. Can't imagine how many hours I played it.
The Style Is Pretty Cool
the sound mixing in these videos is mesd up

ChrisBond21 Review Show ah okay, hope you get them to work :)
What version of Windows do you have? Runs amazingly flawlessly on Windows 7 64-bit. On an overclocked 4690K and HD7870 even.
What the fuck are you doing reading my username? just switch to one single core it´ll run just fine

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was Kick-Ass go Gryffindor

Great review mate

Harry P.: *Listens to everyone else talk while saying nothing at all*
Fun game.
EA “what is this story you speak of, do you mean money?”
Did you play this on your ps3? If so how did you do it?
pewes2000 All PS3 systems are compatible with PS1 games
Also you will find that the PC verison of the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's stone is MUCH better than this PS1 version. Give it a try.
I liked the Gameboy Color versions best... probably because they're just final fantasy knock offs.
me too :) its a nice rpg game!!
Hey, great review; thanks a lot!
Had you ever looked at graphics and thought, "Boy, those models look like garbage." What year did this come out again?
In 2001
there's other places to use verdemilious
Aside from the defence against the dark arts lesson and that one room in the dungeon, Verdimillious never gets used.
Philosopher i know its called sorcerer in America but its wrong
the pc game was awesome!
You speak a little too fast, so I had to slow down the speed of the video xD
I miss it so much
Another example of nitpick narcissism.
Amazing game
I disagree I love this game
Well, this isn't a good review
pc master race
omg that game is really shit against the ps2/xbox/gc or the pc version o.O
Christian Zeimentz no it’s not.
Don't compare a ps2 game with a ps1 game. PS1 sucks
Nee toch niet no it doesn’t.
