I don't think you've even played the PS2 and xbox versions of this game side by side if you say they have no differences. They may be similar, but the PS2 version is structured differently in general. cutscenes have slightly different animations, lines of dialogue were added/removed, you can explore the grounds without having to use the broom, the camera doesn't get in a fixed position in places where the xbox version does, the effects are far different, the list goes on. the xbox and gamecube versions are identical, but the PS2 versions feels more like a late beta in comparison. Great review, by the way.
Marco Hidalgo I finally got me a PS2 copy, and played it side by side with the gamecube version. The PS2 version has a fixed camera view the whole game (though you can adjust it slightly), and it has a choppier framerate
True Baller I’ll answer that...yes 👍😄. I grew up with the ps2 version too. Bought an original Xbox recently and a chamber of secrets game , it is so different yet familiar. You should absolutely play it.

I imagine collecting some of the footage would be an absolute pain in the ass for some of these games, but your critiques are pretty spot on. This game is one of my all time favorite games but your criticism of certain aspects are dead on (particularly the wall hugging/unavoidable ghost portions) I was wondering if you would ever consider collaborating for a video about what you would want out of a current gen HP game. Considering WB Games is supposedly developing one, it would be great to make a video with you discussing what we would want out of a game, taking notes from all the good and bad of the EA HP series. Please let me know if you would be up for collabing!
Actually there are quite allot of differences between the PS2 and 6th gen versions of this game. PS2 is more rough around the edges but overall I'd say it's the most enjoyable of the 3 (GC XBOX and PS2): -it doesnt have that annoying "get hit loose beans " mechanic, -the camera better it doesnt fix itself during some platforming sections (in fact the camera is so free on the PS2 they have no issue with you putting it behind the wall which makes it easier to do things) -there are far less enemies/ ghosts around the castle grounds (they dont put the fire butt crabs riight where you enter a room so you always get hit no matter what) -it has more cutscenes weirdly enough tho they only make the story slightly less of a nonesense -lighting and shadow effects are more complex on the PS2, oddly enough, the shadow actually reacts to light sources it's not static like seen here or on the GC. -you can save anywhere and you restart at the exact room you saved in making the stealth sections sooo much less of a pain. -dunno if that's GC version only but I know that on the GC you couldnt actually walk around the castle grounds, you would just teleport from one relevant area to another which became even more annoying when you got the broom as you couldnt actually use that thing in a fun way, you could only land with it in very specific areas. On the PS2 on the other hand you could do anywhere on the map and fly and land anywhere including roofs of the castle where lots of goodies were hidden - I assume the terrible slowdowns in your review are due to you emulating the OG xbox version on a 360, cause otherwise that's one thing PS2 version lacks in it has spotty framerate, tho not nearly as bad as here (it doesnt slow down it just drops frames instead so it's not quite as annoying) -and there is allot of clipping in the PS2 version, not quite the PSX levels of clipping but you could easily see some things dissappearing from under your feet, but it's a minor thing.
***** as far as the second goes I agree tho arent the xbox and GC versions the same? I do like 4 and 5 4 is the weakest of them but still it's really short. 5 was a neat experiment in my opinion, tho the combat in that game was some of the worst I've ever de3alt with it's literally spam protego the clusterfuck the game
***** Yeah that about sums it up, I'd recommend checking out the GBC games especially if you're into turn based RPG's cause they're really pushed the GBC to it's limits with those and the writing is allot of fun.
you can use Lumos while the ghosts are coming after you to block their attacks. I played the PS2 version though, maybe the XBOX version you can't, I don't know because I have never played chamber on the XBOX
I bought this when it came out for $40 for the ps1. I played it on a ps2 I didn’t know it came out for ps2 or the other platforms either! It looks so much better
One odd thing the PC version did with Lockhart was while it did claimed Lockhart lost his memory, but if you replay two of spell challenges that he was the teacher of, Lockhart's totally fine (and him being a fraud was more implied rather than said out loud, mostly with Ron calling him out for his cowardice and saying "It wouldn't surprise me if he was trying to sneak out of Hogwarts!"), should have had maybe Dumbledore speaking instead and saying like what the book said; that Lockhart was unable to return since he needed to get his memory back!! The PC version is my favorite, but the PS1 and Game Boy Color versions match the tonality of the book and film best. This one's good too (got the PS2 version) but wish that it followed the story closer. You actually can ward the ghosts away with Lumos, but not if you're shimmying on walls sadly.
you do realize that atleast half the stuff that was in this game was also in the first game right. like wall sneaking was in the last game aswell as the whole lock on spell thing, and beans mechanic and mostly the other stuff I can't remember. but you get the idea I'm sure.
There's a huge difference between Harry Potter graphics on the GameCube and Xbox versus PlayStation 2. For starters I have an LG OLED television and I bought specialized HDMI cords for my GameCube and Xbox and PlayStation 2 and you can tell right off the bat that the graphics look completely better on the GameCube and Xbox compared to the PlayStation 2.
yeah i played it on the 360, i actually re-bought the game thinking my original was messed up, but apparently the 360's emulator causes the game to lag, badly, cut-scenes that should be a minute went on for about ten. Most of the footage in the review is actually sped up

Dobby appears in varying amounts in other versions of the game, including the PS1 version (which was developed by the same company that developed the PS1 version of the first game, and has near-isentical gameplay to it). On a similar note, the first game ended up getting released for the 6th gen consoles in 2003...but you won't enjoy it, likely. To many it's the worst game in the series, or at least one of the worst, down there with The Deathly Hallows.
+iLikeTheUDK The GBA version of Sorcerer's Stone is another Harry Potter game which could fall under the worst category. There are LOADS of holes Harry can fall in, there is no jump control, the gnomes can be tricky to hit with Flipendo (there are even blue gnomes which have you hit twice instead of once unlike the normal gnomes), the doxies can chase Harry throughout an entire area when they encounter him (LITERALLY!), and the night missions take place in COMPLETE DARKNESS with a bright circle centering on Harry that usually in later levels glitches out and goes to another part of the screen for a second (you do learn Lumos in one part of the game but during the first night mission you only have Flipendo and Alahamora, meaning you have to complete it in complete darkness).
Yes, I own this game on my Xbox 360, but there is a problem with the frame rate and some scenes are slow, such as the first scene in the game where Harry and Ron are in the flying car, and there is slow control when starting the game. It's an amazing game, but it really lacks some speed. Is there a solution to the problem or not?💔😩
Am I the only one that was turned off by the fact that the Xbox version has that annoying random slow motion glitch ever 5 seconds? The PS2 version didn't have that problem

AliFOJ5 Unfortunately, there is no way to fix the lag. I thought the lag was an issue with my copy of the game since it was about ten years old so I bought another copy only to find the same issue. It turns out that the 360 is basically emulating original Xbox games and because of that some of the games tend to have issues. Chamber of Secrets has the unfortunate side effect of lagging and there is nothing you can do about it. It sucks since all of the other Potter games from the original Xbox work fine.
Aww... if my original Xbox was still alive I would have played it on it. I guess I have pure bad luck because back when I got original Xbox I really wanted to play this game on it as to know what is the difference between PS2 and Xbox version. I always heard stories that the Xbox version was better then the PS2 so I searched everywhere for it but when I found the game finally my Xbox broke and so I had to wait for 360. When I got 360 for some reason its emulator wont work and I couldn't play it. Then later on I got an other Xbox 360 slim and xbox games worked fine on it and I was excited like hell but then I found out about this stupid thing. :/
+AliFOJ5 If you really wanna play the Xbox version of COS just buy the GC version (and of course if you don't already have one, either a GC or a Wii). It has pretty much the exact same gameplay as the Xbox version (although there`s a GBA connectivity feature which I've never tried due to not owning that connector). The PS2 version, like Spyro The Gerudo said, is more like a beta version of the GC/Xbox version with a different structure.
that Gane was Very good I really enjoyed it on the original Xbox the ps2 and pd ps1, never played it on the ganeboy though, i played the first harrypotter gane on gameboy

The ps2 version is much harder and much longer with enemies being much harder GameCube and exbox version are the easy ones I've never beat the ps2 version but I've beaten the GameCube version many times the GameCube is by far the easy one ps2 is really hard
The PS1 version does a terrific job of adapting the book's story. It has more in it than the movie does.

***** Yes, the GBC games are actually quite accurate, the third one on the GBA is also a jRPG and a pretty good one at that

Actually in the Xbox version you can’t land everywhere but you can in the PlayStation version.
Loved this game as a kid! Even with the bad loading screen times on the PS2 version. 😂

The Game Boy versions of Chamber of Secrets and Sorcerer's Stone, while an rpg built game, stuck very close to the books.
