- Hello and welcome back to Quirk Analysis 101 the series where I give you a detailed rundown on the quirks in the world of My Hero Academia.In the last video, I discussed the ability that belongs to the inside-out boy, Tren addicted, psycho Gym Bro Goto Imasuji a.k.a the villain Muscular, And his predominantly, powerful, piledriving quirk that is Muscle Augmentation. In today’s video, I will be discussing the ability that belongs to the blonde bombshell, can I get a hurrah, Ms. America herself Cathleen Bate a.k.a: America’s No.1 Hero, Star and Stripe.

I like how all Japanese heroes have the main rule to not kill and will make sure their powers don't kill villains. But stars and stripes are one of the very few American heroes we've ever seen. She immediately went for the most lethal possible attacks

This is OP even with the 2 rule limitation. She could casually say:"The air doesn't contain oxygen anymore." and everyone on earth would die in seconds.

I think her quirk has a range limit as well, but that's still a terrifying thought.

Also it said she can edit her own ability, then she could just change it so she doesn't need to know someone name and call it a day or just say fuck it and make herself able to create black holes it's reality warping

It does kinda piss me off on how quickly Horikoshi wrote her out of the story. But 90% of the problems come from the pacing as a whole. He's just going way too fast to be done with this.
Also, I think I know one of the other reasons for Star's weaker state. It's perspective, mentality, and opinions. By that I mean Star and everyone put All Might up as the strongest and greatest. So in their minds and her mind no one could be greater in strength. Even though she bulked up and then added super strength with it, she still can't be equal to All Might. Because she subconsciously doesn't want to be.

It’s not his fault. One of the editors who worked on shonen jump (mainly Mha)wanted Horikoshi to hurry up. But he got transferred. His name is Taguchi if you want to do your own research.

That makes alot of sense actually. It seems like quirks are also effected by your state of mind.
So in theory if she never idolized All might and believed she could be even great, she possibly could have made that Order?
What if she says new order: "I will be 98% as strong as all might was in his prime"? So she isnt AS strong as him but still extremely strong
@Jago Nexus she may have already tried that. But I do think there is another reason. No one other than All Might himself really knows how strong he is or was. Without something like a tangible number, maybe its hard to imagine that level? That's more of a guess given all the weird ways quirks operate. I mean look at how many require physical touch.
Loved her and her powerset. I mentioned this on another video, but If Star had made it to Izuku, he could have given her OFA temporarily, so that he could add New Order to his stockpile. Or she could have used OFA to become even more busted. No wonder AFO decided she needed to be dealt with quickly.
Well the whole thing about one for all as we know it in its current form is that people who already have a quirk can't keep it or they will die. Obviously we seen from the 2nd MHA movie bakugo had one for all for minutes and didn't die but we have no idea how long it would take until OFA started killing and draining his life force. Plus we also don't know how long OFA takes to fully integrate and
add a quirk to the quirk factor. Again, we seen bakugo use it for minutes in the 2nd movie but as far as we can tell, explosion did not get added to the OFA quirk factor because not enough time has passed to let it get absorbed.
@@neogalactic1195True, but given that she had enough control of her quirk to order it to destroy AFO’s stockpile, she could possibly order her quirk to; “integrate with OFA as quickly as possible” or something along those lines.
@@Terios2001 Why have you said this? Now I'm going over her quirk again and again trying to see if that would be possible!! My God, Izuku would be unfairly OP if had both of those quirks!
Remember when izuku gave OFA to Bakugo? When he got it back, explosion didn’t go with it.
I don't wish to be sour, but I don't think that would be possible. Think about it; every time one for all was passed on, it grew stronger... but that stronger version didn't pass to the previous weilders. Look at allmight and deku. AFTER all might past it on, his version didn't grow any stronger, and eventually died out after a few months. This suggests that quirks stockpiled into one for all AREN'T available to use to past users unless it was integrated before that person inherited the quirk e.g the second user can't use the third user's original quirk cuz it was stockpiled AFTER he inherited the quirk.
I have a theroy. Before the battle, Stars and Stripes gave an envelope to her men saying "if anything happens to me, give this to Pony. She was my intern." When Pony received it it contains a lock of hair. A not saying that Stars and Stripes gave it an order "whoever eats this hair shall inherit my quirk."

1 - Create the air Titan
2 - Create the star shape vacuum
3 - Grab shigiraki and put him on the vacuum until he dies of suffocation, world saved
The animation and choreography, for this fight needs to be GOD Tier no exceptions

The only reason this quirk has weakness is for plot. Bring it out of the story into reality and the first thing you should do is manipulate the quirk itself and just get rid of the 2 rule limit and having to touch something. She got done dirty and we should’ve seen more from her in general.
Her quirk were going to see again for sure someone’s going to inherit it too powerful to leave out of story because it can still be counter

After all she only need to call out *her name*
Considering she knows she can target her own quirk with new order probably means you can’t just use new order to get rid of its own limits as it feels like a contradiction, like asking a genie for more than 3 wishes
@@Mrsmile-by3oishe can’t make a rule that can target something else directly unless it’s what she’s using new order on. The word directly is very important here. She can give air the order to no longer exist, that directly affects the air but indirectly affects shigaraki as he can no longer breathe, but she can’t give air the order to kill whoever is in it because now it’s no longer just about the air, it is now a direct affect to whoever is in there and that would be breaking rule number two of her quirk, she cannot target something she can not touch. So no giving yourself new super powers unless those superpowers only affect you
Sorry people but there are rules in place with her quirk for a reason and if she could break the rules then she would have done so and there has not been an example of her bypassing them in any way
This quirk feels more like a stand from Jojo's or a cursed technique from JJK.
The giant air avatar is also basically a Susano'o from Naruto or Komamura's bankai from Bleach
Quirks have always been this good though you just need to pay attention and not listen to haters , 3 quick examples of good works ,1. overhauls he can literally touch you instantly killing you and bring you back after killing you he can also touch anything destroy or bring it back not to mention he can fuse with anyone he touches if he didn't wanna kill them he's quirk is versatile and broken , 2. Captain celebrity another hero from America he basically has super man like power but it comes with a barrier that lets him survive intense temps and all sorts of damage, 3. Nine excluding all his other quirks he could literally control the weather to a point he could destroy cities and countries with storms that eclipse them he could controls lightning tornado's and wind as well as making storms,all 3 of these quirks are things you'd think of seeing somewhere else because of how broken they are but you just have to pay attention there's even more quirks just like these
@tamakeozukofirefox6215 uh not really. 90% of them have crazy drawbacks, limited applications or require very specific circumstances. Like I'd call 5 of them maybe on the level of true superpowers. Star and Overhaul's would be among them, but not Nine's. Not with that problem of it slowly killing him each time he uses it.

She could probably knock her head clean off.
If you make her Quirk Awakening as simple as possible, she would have no weaknesses. increasing the rules she can have from 2 to 3, and now consider that you could remove the requirement of speaking.
Her quirk itself feels like a crazy quirk awakening
Maybe she had a less powerful version of the quirk at first but then it awakened into superhax.

Technically she can make 3 rules, she just keeps the first rule on herself to give her super strength

nope, it's only 2 rules. She uses one of the rules to make herself super strong. if she apply another like the 1000x air body type she uses another rule and if she has to do anything with any other object like lasers( which cannot be held by air). she has to use another rule to make them combine into a spear, as she already has 2 rules. she has to cancel one of the rules. She can't cancel the 1000x body type cuz how she gonna use the spear. So, she has to cancel her super strength.

I think the reason she can't reach All Might levels of strength, is mental. She and most everyone see him as an unreachable goal and ultimate powerhouse hero. So she can't get to his level of strength because she doesn't want to overshadow him. Or doesn't think she can.

I stopped reading the manga during the school festival arc, and holy cow, the art has improved so much. Not to say the art was ever bad, but some of those pages of Star just looks down right gorgeous.
What if she can ACTUALLY make 3 rules, but 1 is a contingency plan of sorts, which is why she can only make 2 rules.
It doesn't make sense. Just use the three rules and you would not be in a emergency that requires another rule...
I think I found a way to get through the weakness of her not knowing the person's name she can just say "I now know what this person identifies as"
Or just say "New order, Cathleen Bate doesn't need to know someone's name" then go for the one touch kill

I loved the chapter that said New Order and OFA were always working together. I just had a crazy thoughym Based on that quote, and going off on how AFO stole the quirk from S&S, would it have been possible for her to be able to pass on New Order like OFA? I mean, she WAS able to affect her own quirk by using her quirk and weakening AFO. Or would doing something like passing on her power fall within her quirks' limitations???

If they actually planned everything better than moving on their own, she could have just given Lemillion super strength and let him tire out Shigaraki until she can take him on her own.

The author definitely studied his American manga. That scene of S&S holding a laser is VERY American in its style. As are the lot of other scenes you've shown.

You call it a comic if its American, BTW, manga is just the Japanese word for comic, and doesn't mean anything special, so it's a little weird to use the Japanese word in a non-japanese context
@yugadino93 it's interchangeable, as even manga and anime translations often use both. Means the same thing regardless.

Couldn't she theoretically say she can impose more than 2 rules or even say something like this rule i imposed on this person/thing is permanent and won't leave when i impose 2 new rules unless specified later.
I want to point out that her last order was for her not to decay. While it is true that for living beings that they have a limit. What if this tule also applied to her quirk. After all she wasn’t specific about what kind of decay it was.

What is stopping Star and Stripe from using her own ability on her own quirk? Like the 2 rule limitation, couldn't she change that nature by stating the quirk has no limitations, or the vocal commands, couldn't she change her quirk so she no longer has to speak but project her thoughts into reality?
You could argue that by changing her quirk she is changing the nature of it and effectively negates her own ability as her ability can only affect something "alive" if she knows its name and its nature. But you then run into the "immovable rock and the unstoppable force" conundrum which could cause the quirk to evolve! Although these are only speculations that would've been awesome to see!

Her human body is the limit tho. There are quirks that made a person become invisible. But on a normal condition human can't become invisible. If her power is limitless. She could become immortal by saying "Bathleen Bate is immortal".
