Using the normal Xbox sticks in circular mode felt so good, but the normal sticks in raw mode has that perfect balance. I recently did the update for my g7 , it forced calibration and its taken me multiple attempts to calibrate to get the triggers and sticks to feel propper. However, something is still off. Almost as though there is a greater deadzone programmed in than before. Ive had to change sensitivity and setting in all the fps games i play to compensate but im still feeling like ive got to relearn a controller ive had for 7 months

Hey so only calibrate if you think the sticks are not reaching the 100% values, or if the centre point isn’t dead centre. Changing from raw to normal doesn’t need a recalibration.
@@thephototechy I just did a test and the failure rate was 11 and 7 %. better to do a recalibration I guess? I should do it without the kontrol Freeks attached right ?
Hey yes you can m, but remember the controller will need to be calibrated again. The shaft diameter of the series x sticks is a bit wider, this’ll make the G7se a bit more responsive as the active area is reduced a bit. Personally I don’t think it’s a downside as the sticks feel a bit slow normally.

After some use you might find the spring has uneven play and it may need adjusting the centre point, then the calibration will definitely help. I noticed the shaft was slimmer on the Gamesir sticks and fusion pro3 was thicker, so tried that one first and it worked, later I got the Xbox ones and they do work really well. The manual calibration for sure an amazing feature that gamesir has implemented.

I was just looking at that controller, as it appeared in my Amazon search 😂, man it looks so good with micro switches for the back buttons. I’m stuck on consoles though, so not sure i want to try the whole adapter plugged in and spoofing the controller.
(IMPORTANT QUESTION) So Which mode is most similar to regular controllers like the Xbox stick controller or elite series 2? Like I just want to get used to what the average Xbox controller feels like so I wanna use whatever mode feels the most like most stock Xbox controller. Basically is the response curve on Xbox more similar to raw mode or regular circle mode on the g7 se.
Hey so the normal Xbox controllers have a bit of a square shape in precision tester, where the G7se is making a diamond logo shape. Raw mode would feel more like the standard controller for response, but you’ll notice a difference for sure. This is something I’ve felt with G7se and Snakebyte’s gamepd pro. I have the Nacon revolution 5 pro coming soon and that has custom response curve option, I’ll be testing that one to see if it can feel like the standard sticks.
Ah I wish bro, that controller looks so good, honestly I’d much prefer that design as I’m not a big fan of the G7 design, feels a bit strange for my hands. I don’t have a gaming PC so currently only reviewing console controllers. Saying that for PC I thing the T4C is better then the G7se.
You mentioned that the raw mode is great with the thumbsticks that come with the controller so if they get torn up due to wesr and tear is there a way to get the thumbsticks that you used originally or any similar ones that are great with raw mode? Also should I use raw mode? I play alot of CoD I have the regular g7
Hey so the idea of the raw mode is to mimic the behaviour of standard controllers that don’t have an outer deadzone. If you find the normal circular mode to be snappy enough then stick with that, raw mode would just be a bit more responsive.
Hey I actually haven’t played with the headphones plugged in the controller since my initial review. The problem was with the audio quality but it worked fine. This audio quality is the issue with most third party controllers on Xbox, only the ROG Raikiri feels the same level as elite series 2, and they make big claims of having a premium ESS dac onboard of Raikiri. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a Microsoft thing that keeps the good audio for first party Microsoft controllers. The best to my ears is the elite S2 and Raikiri then the standard Xbox series controller.
@@thephototechy (IMPORTANT QUESTION) So Which mode is most similar to regular controllers like the Xbox stick controller or elite series 2? I got my G7 SE today as Xmas present. I like the feeling of the controller and D-pad feels much better than I thought. Can the circular mode cause some issues with games? Or should I be using RAW mode? Have a nice Xmas!
Hey bro, raw mode would be good if you find the aim response sluggish. It just increases register per increment. One downside could be the minimum deadzones needed for your copy, as that’ll depend on the amount of drift you have and how much deadzone you need to avoid it.
Do you think PS5 sticks would work well as a replacement too, they seem to fit better than the Xbox sticks and less stick drift with them installed. The Xbox ones don’t seem to fit very tight. However I notice the PS5 sticks are thicker than Xbox sticks so I’m not sure if this would make it too responsive. Would really appreciate a response. Thanks
Hey man so I dont have any lose PS5 sticks but I checked the diameter and its 9.6mm and xbox ones are 9.5mm. The sticks from Fusion pro 3 are 9.6mm so I installed them and did the calibration. With normal Gamesir sticks we get a .56-.58 per increment and with both Xbox and Fusion sticks we get .73 per increment. So according to these results PS sticks will have same response as xbox ones once calibrated. I might get some lose PS ones to see if the bottom dome feels better when gliding, hope this helps.
@@thephototechy thank you for the swift and detailed response, goes without saying you definitely know your stuff. I got some aftermarket PS5 sticks from “extremerate” on Amazon, if your planning on getting some I would recommend them, they fit perfect with the G7SE. The Xbox sticks are very loose and cause more drift. If you think the PS5 sticks will perform the same then that’s great I’ll stick to them. I would be interesting to see a video on how to optimise aiming in FPS games using the g7se because I’ve always used standard controllers and never using Hall effect sticks before, but I just find the raw mode far too responsive. Again thank you for the reply I’m a big fan of your content.
Yo I appreciate your videos, Bought my SE cuz of u. Im now trying to updgrade my aiming, thinking about thumbsticks and precision rings, so I've got 2 questions. 1: Do precision rings go well on the SE sticks? If not, how did u solve that problem? (I remember u talking about'em feling a little rough, but I cant seem to find the video); 2: Do u know if the Kontrol Freek Inferno fits on it?
Hey first I’d say only get the précis rings if you want to play at higher sensitivity. If you are happy with the current sensitivity you are playing at then you won’t need them. For me o was stuck playing at 6-6 and found it difficult to go higher and the precision rings help a lot playing and getting used to higher sensitivity. On the G7se the normal sticks work best with precision rings, specially in raw mode. For kontrolfreeks any PS4/PS5 should fit perfectly. If you do get the Xbox sticks you may find precision rings a bit too tight. Prior to this update, the active area used to be larger which made the use of precision rings a bit odd, so I used to remove the anti friction ring to use them, after 6.25 that’s not an issue at all. Also try and only use the green soft precision rings so when you get used to high sensitivity, you can easily stop using them. Hope this helps bro!
Hey the thumbstick caps are easy to replace and we can recalibrate with our chosen ones installed. The modules are soldered on the board so replacing those will be an involved task, but opening the controller is easy.
Hey bro, have you noticed that the g7 se feels weird compared to like the gambit? Like mushy when tracking? I play on a fast sens and I swear I feel like I have to force my thumbstick around just to win pivs. I thought the polling rate was the same as gambit for xbox?
Hey yes I mentioned this in my first review of the controller. HE sticks feel a bit different, but after the 6.25 update the raw mode feels a lot better. you can even reduce the maximum outer deadzone in nexus to reduce the active area of the sticks, which should reach higher register with a bit less movement. Gambit is my favourite aiming controller on xbox, the combination of PDP response curve with the Favorunion sticks is something else. Favorunion has announced their own version of hall effect sticks, I recently reviewed the Nacon Revolution 5 pro and that one looks like it is using te favorunion sticks. Hopefully the HE sticks will match and surpass the potentiometer sticks soon.
@@thephototechy you think pdp might make a gambit with HE sticks for Xbox as well? My left bumper broke on my gambit. I bought the g7 se and I feel a lot less consistent with it. Even after lowering the max outer dead zones in app. I liked the gambit but I decided to try other options as I felt like the gambit wasn’t as twitchy as I like. Like I couldn’t flick shots as I could with other controllers. Now I kinda wish I just bought a replacement gambit lol.
@@kyrenrowe461 hey so I made a video on controller’s response and Gambit was one of the smoothest response, thrustmaster EswapS and PowerA fusion pro 3 are the hyper twitchy response I’ve experienced so far. PDP have announced Hall effect modules for the BFG coming in early 2024 and judging by the stock levels of the Gambit, maybe the gambit is up for a refresh as well. I’ve just got the Nacon revolution X and haven’t used it as currently I’m testing the Pro BFG for its review. So after the BFG I’ll be reviewing the Nacon, it has Alps sticks but they do allow for a raw mode as well, so potentially the Nacon can be a good alternative, but it doesn’t have trigger stops.
@@thephototechy thanks bro. I actually bought the fusion pro 3 but haven’t had the chance to play with it yet because I left my windows pc at my moms and I need it to download the app for the firmware update. Hopefully I can go get my pc soon and give it a shot. It’s a shame I’m not too into the g7 se because it has so many good things going for it. The nexus app hasn’t given me any trouble like other apps for controllers have.
Yo, I also just bought myself and xbox thumbsticks and they feel way better than the one's the come with the g7 se. If I like to imitate the feel of the joystick on stock controllers while using the xbox thumbsticks on the g7 se, which mode should I use? I'm guessing radial mode base on the video, is that correct?
Hey yes radial with Xbox sticks feels Really good, I think building muscle memory with that will be amazing. My only issue is using the standard controller and G7se back and forth, you might feel the difference. Also the normal Xbox controllers loose a lot of resolution as we use the sticks and they have no way of recalibrating them, so that impacts as well. I’ll be showing these changes happening to controllers in an upcoming video.
Hey so using the raw mode changes every value to a higher one like I showed, not only diagonal it’s basically every input. Even your drift numbers will be higher in raw mode so it’s a linear scale increase.
@@عبدالرحمنالعبد-و2ذ hey not at all, having a perfect circular output means dead space in the diagonals. You can check yourself, push the stick all the way to the boundary and slowly let it go you’ll see how much move there is with no register to achieve the perfect circle. I’ve shown this before that the sticks have 2 axis and having a complete circle with physical thumbstick gates doesn’t happen, software boundary has to be implemented to get that. Now games will have a circular deadzone as well so having it on the controller as long as it can hit 100% doesn’t make it better or worse. The issue happens if the error is due to not reaching the circle boundary that mean you are missing inputs.
@@thephototechy I love how deep the details in your vedios . last question: when I turn off the aim assist in Apex I feel some acceleration . can raw mode fix that problem?
Does this mean you can adjust the inner deadzone as well? I’m trying to find a controller that minimizes inner stick deadzone cuz the regular series s/x sticks feel wayyy to jolty to me
Out of the box mine had a 10% minimum deadzone and the raw mode was disabled, I did preorder it before release so don’t know the current batch out of box settings.
@@UrNotSSL so the gamesir nexus app is available on PC and Xbox, in the app you’ll see the profiles tab and every profile has its own settings for sticks, the sticks page has the raw toggle button.
Hey so mine now sometimes have 7% register at rest, as shown in this video. So the drift at rest position has doubled to what it was out of box. They do feel a bit loose as well, but game performance is still very good. How long they’ll keep this level of performance is the true test. Ksilver are rating these for 5 million cycles, normal potentiometer sticks are rated for 2 million cycles, let’s see what sort of longevity we get.
Personally I like to bind the back buttons to L3 and R3, just so that I will never have to click the thumbsticks, which I believe can prolong the spring on the module.
@@LAN-w- yeah that’s a good point, but for a controller with only 2 back buttons could be a deal breaker for some. I still think the sticks are holding up well, I just got the Nacon revolution 5 pro for PS5, and those ones seems to have a bit more tension. All these Hall effect modules are new and seems to be rated for 5 million cycles, normal sticks are rated for 2 million cycles. I’m sure the spring must have lasted for the 5 million cycle test. True test is in our hands, so let’s see how these hold up. Please leave any good or bad feedback here if possible, thanks.

Hey so unfortunately we don’t have physical trigger stops, however, there are some pretty unique software options, something I’ve shown in my video for sticks and trigger settings, I’ll leave a link below. Still I think the omission of physical trigger stops is a deal breaker for someone like me, I honestly play a lot better with them, it’s not even about timing, it’s the press that shakes the controller for me and make me less precise. ua-cam.com/video/9G-0R0iAo3k/v-deo.htmlsi=2L_DW5EinWpXeowe

Ah I wish bro, that controller looks so good, honestly I’d much prefer that design as I’m not a big fan of the G7 design, feels a bit strange for my hands. I don’t have a gaming PC so currently only reviewing console controllers. Saying that for PC I thing the T4C is better then the G7se.
would swapping to raw mode and decreasing my sensitivity to get more control over my aim without losing reactivity
What games do you play that you feel HE works better with the original xbox sticks are better then the G7SE as is sticks?
I have the normal g7 not the se would you recommend raw mode or the circle mode? Does the raw mode make it just like a normal Xbox controller?
Hey so the idea of the raw mode is to mimic the behaviour of standard controllers that don’t have an outer deadzone. If you find the normal circular mode to be snappy enough then stick with that, raw mode would just be a bit more responsive.
hi, nice video, I wanted to ask you if the audio jack problem has been solved... (the one that caused problems when you connected the headphones)
The best to my ears is the elite S2 and Raikiri then the standard Xbox series controller.
amazing bro
Thanks bro!
@@thephototechy (IMPORTANT QUESTION) So Which mode is most similar to regular controllers like the Xbox stick controller or elite series 2? Like I just want to get used to what the average Xbox controller feels like so I wanna use whatever mode feels the most like most stock Xbox controller. Basically is the response curve on Xbox more similar to raw mode or regular circle mode on the g7 se. Also I will be using the ragular g7 sticks.
I got my G7 SE today as Xmas present. I like the feeling of the controller and D-pad feels much better than I thought. Can the circular mode cause some issues with games? Or should I be using RAW mode? Have a nice Xmas!
Hey i wanna ask u something, i use t4 kaleid with high raise kontrolfreak which is the best mode for that raw or circle?
So is it good for call of duty or any other game in raw mode ? I got lost
Hey bro, raw mode would be good if you find the aim response sluggish. It just increases register per increment. One downside could be the minimum deadzones needed for your copy, as that’ll depend on the amount of drift you have and how much deadzone you need to avoid it.
Also i have the g7 controler the white one is that good
Long story short, which mode is better for Shooters?
You are most welcome bro, now you've got me thinking about the PS5 sticks and I need to try them as well@@jacrichardson7200
What you recommend for sport games, like Fifa?
Hey I haven’t played fifa in ages, the G7se has less resistance on the sticks and the potential of longer life span kinda goes in favour of the G7se.
@@thephototechy Thanks!
Easy to replace thumbsticks?
Hey the thumbstick caps are easy to replace and we can recalibrate with our chosen ones installed. The modules are soldered on the board so replacing those will be an involved task, but opening the controller is easy.
Hey bro, have you noticed that the g7 se feels weird compared to like the gambit? Like mushy when tracking? I play on a fast sens and I swear I feel like I have to force my thumbstick around just to win pivs. I thought the polling rate was the same as gambit for xbox?
I play halo btw, just Incase you’re wondering what game
The nexus app hasn’t given me any trouble like other apps for controllers have.
i recomend use raw with Xbox thumb and 0/98 raw feels good
FYI the sticks from the Scuff instinct fit this controller. Ive been using them.
Hey thats amazing info bro, I'm going to check them out. Did you try the Xbox and PS version?
@@thephototechy The Xbox version
Yo, I also just bought myself and xbox thumbsticks and they feel way better than the one's the come with the g7 se. If I like to imitate the feel of the joystick on stock controllers while using the xbox thumbsticks on the g7 se, which mode should I use? I'm guessing radial mode base on the video, is that correct?
Hey yes radial with Xbox sticks feels
Really good, I think building muscle memory with that will be amazing.
Ah, I see. Looking forward for your next video, thank you.@@thephototechy
but where is the advantages when most of the shooter games have there own outer deadzone?
Hey so using the raw mode changes every value to a higher one like I showed, not only diagonal it’s basically every input. Even your drift numbers will be higher in raw mode so it’s a linear scale increase.
@@thephototechy ok now i get it
but what is the defrences between raw mode and just increase your sens
@@thephototechy and the error increase by 10% is it cool? will we have inconsistence
I play fifa. So which mode should I use ? Circular or raw mode ?
I play fifa too. What mode did you found the best to use?
@@Korben_Dallas944 so which one worked for you guys?
@@Korben_Dallas944 I feel raw mode feels good enough
Does this mean you can adjust the inner deadzone as well? I’m trying to find a controller that minimizes inner stick deadzone cuz the regular series s/x sticks feel wayyy to jolty to me
I wanna say ur talking about stick tension maybe when u say jolty
@@civual no I’m talking about deadzone
Hey! Recently Xbox start banning controllers without official license, you know if this controller had and official license?
Hey these are licensed xbox controllers, they even come with a 1 mont game pass code.
What raw mode be useful in madden ?
👍
So does the controller come delivered and packaged on raw mode or do I have to switch to it when i unbox it?
Out of the box mine had a 10% minimum deadzone and the raw mode was disabled, I did preorder it before release so don’t know the current batch out of box settings.
@@thephototechy oh okay I gotchu and how do I enable raw mode if it is disabled?
@@UrNotSSL so the gamesir nexus app is available on PC and Xbox, in the app you’ll see the profiles tab and every profile has its own settings for sticks, the sticks page has the raw toggle button.
@@thephototechy ahh thanks
How are your G7 SE sticks holding up? Mine are already very loose and wobbly 😩
@@thephototechyHow long have you had the G7 SE controller?
@@nomenomeha30anosatras33 hey I preordered when it was announced and got it on launch
Thats what she said
Haaa This controler is good but This response curve is ridiculous
Are the triggers as fast as the gambit I have the gambit for FPS games and I'm slightly heavy handed so I've broken the stick (again) got the fusion pro 3 and hate it feels like pushing sponge , I don't want to keep spending loads for controllers , I just need the fast response triggers and these one are quite cheap but I don't see the attachment at the back for hairtriggers ? Is it able to respond fast lol that took longer to word than expected it's early 🥱
