- In this very brief tutorial, I walk through how you can use ASIO4ALL to multi-track record multiple USB microphones.
In order to do this you'll need the following:
1) A Windows Computer
2) Multiple USB Microphones, ideally a different model for each participant
3) ASIO4ALL (www.asio4all.org/)
4) ASIO Capable Recording Software (such as Adobe Audition, Reaper, Cakewalk Sonar, etc)
The microphones used in this demo are (affiliate links):
- SamsonQ2U: amzn.to/2Giu3Ql
- Audio Technica ATR-2100: amzn.to/2WATPoA
- Audio Technica AT2005: amzn.to/2GlsaCA

Thanks, I was literally going to cry after 3hrs of no signal from mics on audacity, I installed this 2 software's restarted my laptop and setup the mics as you explained and everything is running great ! Greetings from Mexico my friend !!
I have 2 Samson q2u with headphones connected to their integrated headphone jack. The first one i can hear both voices through the headphones, the second can only hear once voice. Ive tried so many different work arounds and can cont figure it out. It works on voicemeeter but i want separate tracka for sake of editing. Anyone know?
Works for me, though I have to use a powered USB hub.
Trying to do 1 XLR mic and my USB headset mic at the same time seemingly impossible Q_Q
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO USE A 3 MIC SETUP‼️
When I have artu mini lab and reaper running. Only one will work at a time. The in and out on the interface. gets canceled by whichever got turned on first. But only can run. Interface is fine otherwise
Only one can run I meant. Any suggestions. I'm going crazy with no kybrd sound.
Can I use separate tracks and does it works to record long podcasts (I have a very decent Desktop)?
Does this work on a mac?
Thanks for the video! Do you get any latency when you use these USB mics while monitoring?
Everything ok, until I added the tracks but there was no input search option on the track menu... any how to make ir appear?
I have the same issue!
Aha, just had to arm the track for the input selector to show up.
Doesn't work. Audio in- and output stays on the first device in the ASIO4ALL list. I can't even get it to _output_ on the second device. No error messages, nothing grayed out.
I am stumped.
*EDIT:* Got it to work by updating ASIO4ALL from 2.11beta to 2.15! Also, some audio channel namings inside the configuration are _really_ confusing and ASIO4ALL does not show the complete and *necessary* information in the device list in the configuration. I had to use _hover tool tips_ to figure out that I was using the S/PDIF channels on my interface instead of the analogue ones that are connected to my amplification!
Anyway, works now, so big thanks for the info! Ihave been using ASIO4ALL for years now, but would *_never_* have found out _this_ multi-input trick. And I *really* need it for recording guitar tracks split between amp tone via USB (Spark 40) and direct-to-interface (NI Komplete Audio 6).
hey I did this through my interface (scarlett 2i2) recording my guitar and microphone (at2020) and it worked but the quality has plummeted and both recordings sound like they're being played back through a telephone. anyone else have this issue?
well
i want to connect presonus audiobox 1818vsl and behringer umc 1802 with this method, but it doesnt work :./
hi man , i tried all setting followed .in the track i could select 4 input but non of the signal works now . existing track also not playing , by the way i am trying with Steinberg ur22c and with my 2 channel multifx guitar processor ( pod hd 5oox) .both working device when i use separately.plz help
Do you know what determines the order of devices in Asio4all? I have several devices that have many in/out and I find sometimes the orders are reversed and hence all connections need to be reassigned in my DAW...........any suggestions?
This method also works wth Jack Audio Connection Kit for both Linux and Windows. My Question is, Is the length of the USB cable going to affect the recording? I wanna try recording a Choir and Chamber Orchestra this but not sure about the power consumption if long wires will have resistance which may affect the voltage powering the Microphones. I want to carry my Tablet, Powered USB Hub and Microphones. Nothing more. Less Load.
Thx for the tutorial, I'll try to record a podcast like this and let you know if it's stable enough to do that. Thank you again.
how'd it go??
And how was it???
How was it
Thanks you very much, me and my friend have been struggling with this for hours, and you've really helped us!
Hi 🙂 I can't selecect my mics. What do you think why?
Hello! I was just wondering where did you get your custom GonnaGeek light up box above your microphone. I like how professional it looks
my snowball mic doesnt show up, but my yeti does. why is that?
Can I do this with OBS for streaming
Did you use a USB interface or straight to pc??
Has to be straight to PC. ASIO4all wouldn't recognize separate mics if they were all coming in though one input.
Can this work on fl studio or audacity?
I’m trying to use ASIO to record 2 separate tracks with 2 separate mics. I’m running into the problem of not being able to find one of my two mics and unable to pick up sound on them. I have gotten to the point where you click ASIO configure to choose your mics, butwhen i choose both my yeti and snowball mic only the yeti shows up when i chose the first and last inputs. please help.
Were u able to find a solution
How's the latency?
Would it work on Mac?
thank you, I'll try this!
Would this work if I were to use my Digi 002 as my device?
Rather, use it as my interface and be able to utilize my 4 tracks and the adat 8 analog channels?
would there be a reason not to input them in stereo? why are you choosing mono?
You need two mics to record in stereo or there's no point.
EDIT: Two mics per track I mean.
Thanks!
Thanks for this! Doing my first interview on two mics and this solved my issue. Question though, when I playback what I've recorded in reaper I cannot hear it. How do I listen to my tracks?
I probably could have stated it a bit better, so my apologies. However, I don't use reaper but did it on the video just because I knew a lot of people do use it. Sorry that I can't help you out with that answer. -Stephen
@@GonnaGeekGear No worries. I figured it out. Have to switch back to wavout for playback.
Thank you for this tutorial. I am researching in advance because i jist ordered my first USB mic (maono AU-PM461TR).. i plan to use it for song covers. I am also a keyboardist and i cant afford something like a focusrite hence i opted for a usb mic first because my laptop can handle my keyboard and vsts well.
So with asio, can i use 2 usb connections at once? One for my keyboard and one for the usb mic?
