This day and age Basketball is all about 3pts shooting or shooting, I miss the 80's and 90s and early 2000s basketball, where people played defense and drove the paint, and made it exciting with block shots and crazy dunks on breakaways

I see no defense being played at all no ball pressure, half ass closeouts, no rim protection, no communication, and no boxing out hence that dead body in the middle of the video when dude got punched on 😂. Out of 320 G League players McClung is #2 in stats (with Cam Whitmore, who was a 1st round #20 pick, at #1). That's impressive. He's not even a two-way right now! I can't see how he won't be called up for good with a standard contract before very much longer.
I could see McClung being another Austin Reeves type of player.

I hate today's game. McClung gets the ball at the three line, and everyone is frozen. No cutting, no picks. Everyone waiting for the guy with the ball to make a move. It's such a one dimensional game compared to how it used to be. Extend the three point line out two feet. Get rid of the side three pointers by extending the line. That will force an inside and middle game to appear again, and a much better game.

yeah I agree with you on getting rid of the corner 3, it's ridiculous to have such a shorter shot from there be worth the same as a regular 3 on the wing or up top. That would bring back some offensive variety and make the game more watchable. Allowing a little more defensive contact and eliminating the foul baiting stuff offensive players are allowed to get away with now would also help a lot, but the league will never do it - the only people who care about that stuff are actual hardcore basketball fans and we'll watch anyway, Silver and co. are more interested in pulling in as many casual fans as possible (and from a business standpoint I can't really blame 'em)
I'm confident they set things up the way they did for a reason or two. No doubt veterans and coaches had input into the G-league setup.

Yeah I agree. I love the NBA but there is no under dawgs or unique players anymore. I loved the game when you had muggsy bogues, earl boykins, spud webb, Allen Iverson, Jeremy lin, etc..... Seems like the game has evolved to metrics which doesn't take into a count peoples will and heart. Shit they should create another league where it only has 6'4 or smaller players. I think it would be more fun to watch.
If the nba don't give him a guaranteed contract. He should go over seas for a high paying team. Dominate there then charge more money when the nba is trying to get him to play for them

Mac makes already good players look very good to great. His team was well staffed with players that love being set-up for great shots. They also feed Mac the ball as they know is likely to score or feed back to them for good shots. It is so damn far past the time for the NBA to give him his full contract for years long play. DO It! Note: Orlando Magic,... find him a spot. He has proven his worth for years. Many of the NBA players know he should be NBA playing so I am asking them to step up and shout it from the top of the back board. You know it would be a slam dunk winner.

Williams and McClung complement each other. I like Williams as a shooting guard and I like McClung as point, or both men as combos. I like their whole team. They don't rely on a big man. They have three guys 6'7 and the two guards at 6'2 , and they're kicking everyone's ass. Speed kills.

I wish you wouldn't use the word "dominating". Mac is playing very well but has cooled off from his hot start, likely due to his calf injury, but he is still firmly in the top 10% of players. Still not what you would call "dominating", but very, very good and a legit NBA prospect. If somebody would just give him a chance I think he would be a solid NBA player. Potentially a Jalen Brunson or Fred VanVleet type player or at the very least I think he could be a Seth Curry shooter off the bench. Somebody saw potential in them and gave them a shot, why not Mac? He's got the numbers and the athleticism but for some reason there is a bias against him.
I'm not sure if the basketball is terrible or if these players are THAT good but, does anyone play defense these days? From this video, it looks like an open gym. Not a professional basketball game.

I honestly at this point just don't get it the only thing I can think of is straight up they hate this dude cuz he's white I can't think of any other reason why this man is not in the NBA. Too many college and NBA coaches rate the prospects they see based on the player's physical appearance. So, Mac McClung is going to have to do more than score 25 ppg. to make an NBA regular season roster. He's going to have to show that he can create for his team as a point guard. And he's no point guard. So.........Europe?

He has had try outs with multiple NBA teams and each and every team has deemed him unworthy of a roster spot. That should tell you something. He is an average shooter with less than average playmaking ability and below average ability at the defensive end all in the body of point guard that can’t ably play the point. With all of that knowledge about him what exactly would he bring to an NBA roster?

Everyone here forgets how much of a defensive liability he is and how often bench players rotate in and out of the league. Mac for sure isn't competing with starters for spots. He can at best get min like Dellavedova on the Cavs. He's defiantly better than a player like that but it doesn't look like he fits as some 6 or 7th man.

Mac moves his feet on defense as well as anybody I've seen, he's got quick hands, explosive leaping for surprise blocks which is all you can ask for a guy his size. All those right around 6 ft. players are going to get shot over or posted up on, they just have to play effective defense on the perimeter guarding other small guards and be productive on the offensive end to make up for it and Mac deserves a chance to show he can do that on the NBA level.
