Minnesota Vikings always break our heart, but I’ll be damned if we don’t have some truly magical and fun seasons.

this will be wordy....don't bitch about it, you were warned and I am bored tonight and that's all on you.
The famed Purple People Eaters were DOMINANT to....more on that latter...
It's only a blast when ya win it all. There are zero trophies for having a blast, but in Minnesota, I guess one has to settle for less and be excited about it given their history of failures.
That was a bit harsh but unfortunately Viking fans get a bit too giddy over entertainment vs results.
I've heard everything you said before...4-0 is nice but they've not shown enough yet when it matters most.
Great starts aren't unheard of up there, neither are bad finishes.
I'm sure fans thought the Vikings were dominant and different in the 70's and despite 4 Super Bowl appearances they went 0-4 setting the standard for futility which is shared with the Buffalo Billlls.
And those 15-1 Vikings were...ahem...different to, and most certainly DOMINANT....they were destroying the league until
they faced the Falcons who apparently didn't get the memo or gave a damn and instead the it was the Vikings who were eliminated.
And they were different and quite dominant with Brett Favre who had an incredible regular season, one of his finest, until that train also crashed into the station against the Saints who weren't impressed either...
yes, been there and seen that before time and again.
Do ya see the pattern yet?
They're 4-0 which is the best they can be after 4 games, a job well done, but let's see where they are at after 17 games...then if they make it to the playoffs, which is never a long term problem in Minnesota either, let's see what they can do with that opportunity, for a change which has been a long term problem for almost half of a century.
It feels different because ya really want it to be different, and frankly I don't blame anyone for feeling that way.
It's been 48 years since the Vikings won an NFC Championship, I'd want it to feel different to because teams can go even longer winning absolutely nothing, just ask the Cardinals, Lions & Browns who are enjoying 77, 67, and and 60 years of winning absolutely nothing with some seasons sprinkled in that were allegedly a "blast"
History cares little for blasts unless there is a Lombardi Trophy attached to it, which is why so many fans hated the Patriots during the Brady Era...they reminded just about everybody else how horribly inferior their teams often were....
which is what the Chiefs have been doing since Mahomes arrived, fans are becoming tired of them now, but it's not their job to stop themselves...it's the other team's job to stop them.
...and oddly enough it was Tom Brady who has given those Chiefs their only hiccup at the Super Bowl level, but I do digress...
I'm sure many Viking fans are wondering if they'll live long enough to see that first ever Super Bowl championship team in Minnesota. Anybody 50 and over should be very concerned, history is not in their favor because it's a trend...
62 years so far...with zero world championships and 48 years removed from their last Super Bowl appearance as NFC Champions. That's a poor resume.
Darnold is right about one thing, they're not being taken very seriously, nor should they be taken very seriously.
      They haven't earned it yet.
Your QB is Sam Darnold not Patrick Mahomes, let's see how he ranks at season's end.
Cautious optimism....very cautious optimism might serve you a bit better, but hey....you do you.
But I'll level with you on three things....
      1. I think there is a very good chance that the Vikings will be going to New Orleans in February, 2025....as spectators, of course.
      2. On the bright side, the Vikings do have an amazing-looking stadium, so ya got that going for ya.
      3. Just to show that I'm not the Grinch who stole Xmas from the state of Minnesota...If they somehow manage to win the 2024 NFC Championship Game; I'll actually root for 'em as long as they're not facing my team.

Flores went prevent in the second half which gave up big chunk plays, not a fan of that. I would have liked to keep them struggling versus letting them back in and to hang around but i get it. You don't want to put schemes on film if you don't need it but whoa, it got pretty close

Probably a result of the powerful cushion, but it got scary when GB started getting things dialed in. Maybe a tad too much confidence that his guys could get it done under any scheme. Aside from an absurd special teams play, and a really bad call on that “interception”, and the second half would have been quite different.

    • @HollowLumi

I viewed as a ripple effect of sorts. It was painfully obvious KOC was trying to force feed Jones to get a TD to rub salt in their wounds and it wasn't working. Offense kept going 3 and out and the defense was basically living on the field for the entire second half. They were GASSED and couldn't keep up with anybody. The pressure totally evaporated and Love picked them apart with ease. Crazy how fast bad playcalling and fatigue can snowball.
