I would definitely try them. And yes please do a review on their seafood night. Plus even without the discount their prices are great with lots of selections to choose from. Good bang for your buck.
Was in Vegas a few months ago... Our flight was canceled & the airline put us up in a hotel for the night.....it was the Southpoint. I always stay on the strip but after staying here, I would DEFINITELY stay here again. Buffet was great, hotel is nice, lots of food options. They also have a Bingo parlor (I won the $1000 coverall), bowling alley, lots of table games. This is a great place to stay. 10/10.
I am a local Nevadan from Reno, and we usually go to Vegas every year. We were so upset when the red rock buffet closed down and didn’t know about the announcement until we went to check it out back in September. But we instead went to the south point during brunch hours and it had some good variety, especially the carving station and desserts. We went on a Sunday, so they had a mimosa brunch special. Although I couldn’t drink due to being a minor, my parents did enjoy it and overall a decent local buffet being not too far from the strip.
I haven't been to Vegas since 92. Back then I'm not joking all food was dirt cheap. Most buffets were like $6. We spent more on breakfast at Mcdonalds then we did at nice buffets. We were getting lots of shrimp cocktails that were AWESOME and only 99cents. We got tons of free pop all day long. We stayed at the Imperial Palace on the strip and we walked all the way down to the ends and my feet for so blistered. Nothing but tennis shoes the next 3 days. LOL
Great review Ruby- you may not know but this is a Michael Gaughan property , his father Jackie had the El Cortez and many other properties in downtown vegas for many years. They were always focused on quality and value . Not surprised at how well they treated you and your good experience .
The pork ribs are my favorite. I very much appreciate that the South Point owners re-opened the buffet as soon as they could during the pandemic. None of the other "local" casinos have re-opened theirs except for the Rampart. South Point deserves a lot of praise. 💖
I've eaten there a few times. Good selection. Mexican food was decent. Also a nice strawberry shortcake station when I was there. Can't beat the value!
Mexican is my favorite food so I would like to try South Point. Then you brought up the Rueben...my favorite grilled sandwich. I need to try it. We may be coming to Las Vegas to see Jimmy Buffet at MGM Grand Garden Arena in March. May have to try that buffet...Haha! Thanks for the video Ruby. Prime Rib is the king. Yes Hors radish and au jus makes it so much better.
So many of the Las Vegas hotels have eliminated their buffets. Southpoint is one of the few breakfast, lunch, dinner buffets left. The hotel is off strip, 3 miles south of Mandalay Bay hotel. Buffet has long lines Fri-Sun, the casino floor that you wait in is very smokey, smells like a giant ashtray.
Episode suggestion: I’m a big sports fanatic, and Vegas is a HUGE sports town, with NHL Hockey, NFL Football, NBA summer league, possibly MLB Baseball. I often plan trips to Vegas built around sporting events. Can you maybe put together some of Vegas’s best spots to catch some sporting action? ie. Beer prices/specials, halftime give aways/prizes, viewing parties. Etc
I love that buffet. But I can never eat the amounts that make the all you can eat proposition worth it. The Coronado Cafe two restaurants over has amazing prices for really great quality food.
Used to drive through Vegas all the time en route to socal. If I stopped at all, it was at South Point. Easy on-off freeway access, didn't have to worry about strip traffic. Place was always clean, buffet was good value with wide variety. So, what's changed as of May 2023? How much is the lunch weekday buffet? Dinner? What's the resort fee there? Parking fee? Any other new fees? Anyone?
Love your videos. Could you do a video on one of the restaurants at The M? Or the buffet if there is one there. Mr Ruby is lucky to get to eat at all those places with you.
I'd prolly have me some disposable gloves when handling those serving tongs. Some people, don't know where there hands have been and they don't wash up.
I’m dying to get down there for a week at South Point - Your info is Super Great and Helpful to hear right now! How many HOURS were you SAMPLING there at the Buffet that day ? Seemed you went in while the Sun was up and then it got Dark out side LOL🎉. I was a day late to enter the Million Dollar Bingo Extravaganza for October. It’s coming again March 2023 so I think I’ll register this week end - but I need a Week preliminary RIGHT Now !!
Good tip on going before 4pm, but for $24.99, I would recommend going to an AYCE Korean BBQ, Hotpot, or Sushi restaurant on Spring Mountain instead nowadays. I hear AYCE after 10pm at Kogi is $16.99. Southpoint Buffet is not worth the drive unless you are really pinching your wallets for mediocre experience in Vegas.
A family of four can very easily incur a bill of $60 at MCDONALDS! When I eat fast food alone, it's always over ten bucks for swill. $24?????????? Man, I could eat all day!
Went to the lobster buffet last Wednesday it looked great. That’s as far as I got get there early 2.5 hour wait line. I’ll plan better next time and maybe get to eat it.
I would like to suggest you put just little dabs of your choices on ythe plates. As you only do little bites, it seems vrry wastefull unless Mr Ruby eats the leftovers.
Eating at all these buffets must be hard to keep your weight down. You look like you don’t have to worry . I’m graining wt. just watching you eat 🤣 Lol Thanks for sharing .
When my former mother-in-law lived in Vegas, her neighbor would pick her up and they'd drive to South Point for the buffet lunch. They went everyday. That was their one meal for the day.
Vegas Buffets off strip Buffets used to be under $10 pre covid. South Point Buffet Lunch Price used to be $9.95 in 2018. I oddly wanted to move to Vegas in 2019 and then covid hit and inflation followed and home prices doubled. I think God was saying a big "NO!"
No. Not an old person's place at all. It's just a very nice casino with a wonderful buffet. So many great choices of food. Great service and atmosphere.
Hard to go wrong at South Point. My wife and I have stayed there the last couple of times in Vegas and the buffet is pretty good. Don Vitos is good as well, as is the Silverado. Primarily Prime Rib is next on the list to try. Expectating a grrat experience.
Primarily Prime Rib is GROSS.. the food quality is pretty lousy. Silverado Steakhouse is MUCH better quality. I've stayed at Southpoint 8 times since 2012 and Know the restaurants well. The Japanese restaurant named Zenshin Asian is pretty good but a little pricey. Big Sur Oyster Bar/Seafood cafe is also good and has good clam chowder and Fish-n-Chips. The Del Mar Deli near the sportsbook is decent for sandwiches.
Looks like a solid value for a buffet. Have heard a lot of good about it. Great that they have some solid Mexican/Latin offerings along with the usual offerings. Some buffets tend to overlook my favorite part of the world. BTW my wife is of Mexican heritage and this is just something we love in addition to all the other offerings at a buffet. Thanks for the video!
South Point has always a best value place. I agree that the buffet is by far the best value you can get. Can't wait to see your seafood night. I have stayed at South Point many times. Always enjoyed it. Thank you for the video.
I had the SP lunch buffet last week and it was terrible. And I mean everything. Carving station brisket, turkey, and ribs were dry and tough. Most things were not at proper serving temp The only tasty item I found was the garlic toast. That's pretty sad.
I love south point for the cheap breakfast specials! Their rewards and points also never expire compared to all other casinos. Do more Reviews of all the the events here!
Im not too interested eating at buffets.. everyone touches the spoons or tongs barehanded. Who knows where their hands been especially in this day of age
Thank you Ruby! You rock! I have eaten at the South Pointe Buffet and I thought it was pretty good, especially for the price. Actually I would like to stay there one of my trips to Las Vegas.
We live here in Las Vegas and come here occasionally. Last year on Thanksgiving, a group of us came here for the buffet and couldn't find the end of the line. It was snaked throughout the entire casino floor. We ended up leaving and ate at home. So glad I had all the fixings.
I have ate there about a year or so ago and they had white fish on the buffet for dinner and it was terrific. South point buffet is always a good deal. I just wish they would reopen the Silverton buffet around the corner that was my favorite of all.
Yeah, Red Rock Casino, Silverton, Orleans, Suncoast, Gold Coast all stopped Buffets. but Main St Station , Rampart ( limited times ) and South Point have Buffets now. It was FUN while it lasted at those reasonable prices. Boo Hoo.....
Not a good buffet , nobody I know likes this buffet. Surprised to see all the hype from Ruby. Didn’t even mention the menudo , which is probably their best item. The Mexican food other than menudo is god awful and sushi is as bad as it gets . Prime rib is so so.
Correction hush puppies was for slaves that was trying to run away for freedom hush puppies was to shut the dogs up when slave was trying to get away from the slave owner and master but I enjoy your videos
Actually they say that's a possibility but not fact. The most known story is the one she talked about. Cooks fed dogs hush puppies to not bother them while cooking.
In 09 while in Vegas I whent skydiving the instructors told me best price and working man not fancy Buffett was at south point I think it was because it was close to there work
before I watched the video I ate dinner. I knew if I didn't your video would make me hungry. Las Vegas is totally worth the trip for the food experiences. I would be stuffed all the time. How you manage to keep your figure is beyond me. Sorcery!
I would love you guys to hopefully check out some of the hotels and casinos in Reno and Carson City, or Lake Tahoe, particularly cause it’s during the holiday season and a lot of people come to visit during the snow months and has an awesome vibe with some of our amazing casinos in the area.

I agree that the video is great as it! That’s why I keep coming back 😅 but I will admit there were several dishes they walked past on the buffet that I was interested in and would like to see a review on.
Thoughts on South Point's Dinner Buffet?
Would you eat here?
Hey ruby I'm planning a bucket list trip to Vegas soon have you done Gordon Ramsey restaurant also do you know of a Maine lobster buffet
I would definitely try them. And yes please do a review on their seafood night. Plus even without the discount their prices are great with lots of selections to choose from. Good bang for your buck.
Thank you, we are going to Vegas this Month and are looking for a good cheap buffet to eat Thanksgiving at
Ate there many times. Use the Las Vegas advisor coupon to take even more off the price

I like that you go for cheaper buffet ,,not everybody can afford a 80$ buffet , especially when traveling on a tight budget ,thank you
We love Ruby, she is a good eater and never met a buffet she hated.
Scam

But who eats dinner at 4 in Vegas? Grannies? Usually I'm just getting up around then...🌜 looking for a cup of Joe!! 🤣☕

Yes would love to see the Friday Seafood buffet
We love it here... consistent over the last 9 yrs!!
Yes. A whole serious on Vegas buffet "Seafood" day/nights would be fun. And then the same for Brunch.
Buffet looks good for the price but I worry about the food freshness at any buffet. Fish would be a hard no. Chicken Parm tasted like pickles???
Would love to see you review their "Seafood Night" 😋😋.
Thanks for this - I was wondering if buffets were even around after the past couple of years. Thanks for the review.

I"m in VEGAS this week will check this out. Thanks
Ruby try the cheap steak and eggs breakfast at Ellis island too. Cool video and we luv this place. 🤠🎉👍
over and over again We go there at least twice a month. Best all around buffet including the seafood night. And Sunday Brunch the Prime Rib is Insane.

Definitely!! Always a good value.
Handle the serving spoons with a napkin people!!!! GO FOR ALL THE MEAT FIRST.
I never even heard of South point buffet but now I will definitely give it a try when I come back to Vegas
Seems like a good deal for 24 bucks. And yeah, I like the idea of prime rib being part of the buffet :)
Ruby, is there corned beef hash at the south point buffet?
the chicken parm might have brined that chicken in pickle juice. Supposed to make it pretty tender.
Very informative review. Also, now I’m hungry!
thats one of the fun parts of Las Vegas some of the hotel buffets
Thanks, like looking at all this food 😊
you have the BEST food reviews on you tube
Yes please please do the seafood night! When we go to Vegas and pick a buffet that’s my stop is asian and seafood! Yummm
now i want some prime rib... thanks!

The Deli at Southpoint is also delicious So Is their Cafe
Sounded they use pork like most places use chicken for their low cost protien.😊
Just ate there a few weeks ago...it was ok at best. Its worth the price but i would not go back
Yes, seafood night.
