These cars these cars get alot of undeserved flack for being bad but my friend has a 2013 and his has been solid. He has never seen a mechanic unless it was for maintenance. Last year I borrowed his car and realized it had over 220k miles on it.
I'm impressed by the features they came with - The heated/cooled cup holders, touch screen with GPS, and rear DVD seem like pretty high end options for a car like this back in the day - Actually leased my wife a new Mercedes C350 back in 2008 that didn't even have those features.
@@GeeEm1313 I actually did a little research on them after watching this and they appear to be pretty mechanically solid from the owner reviews that I've read online - The 4cyl models seem to have the highest rating for long term reliability - Plus they're dirt cheap now which is music to my ears lol my oldest son is 17 and the wife and I decided to buy him his first car so I've actually been looking for one of these specifically.
Ill take the very first Mitsubishi based Avenger coupe. These Chryslers were notoriously unreliable. I worked for them. The 2.7 sludgemaster esp and its 41te based 4 speed auto... shame
I've been in the rental car business since the late 90's. These were ok cars compared to the Chrysler 200 that came out a few years later. We had several 200 that kill the battery with 2 days of sitting.
Dodge teams (Evernham, Petty, Penske, BAM, and Ganassi) ran the Avenger in NASCAR for 16 races, while the Charger ran the other 20, and was supposed to run the Avenger full time in 2008, but its reputation was SO BAD, by the time preseason testing started, so they went back to the Charger.
Ah yes the plastic fantastic interior Dodge Avenger. The ultimate car for those that can’t pay their bills and have credit problems. The suggested car for those that can’t drive or use turn signals.
while the stereotype sadly plays out for the first part as seen on all these cop cam channels, I interject that BMW drivers won't signal, and toyota drivers (and a large amount of honda ones) really can't drive well lol
Finalizing an 08 R/T in Sunburst Orange Pearl, beautiful looking and only 97k miles! 7k at dealer.. First car I'll have ever purchased by myself so wish me luck!
But you know what there are tons of them running around with really high mileage and happy owners who trade them for another Chrysler product all the time.
When equipped with the 2.4 these things absolutely eat the alternator and the 3 tensioner/idler pulleys and start making this horrible noise as the clutch for the alternator begins to shred itself to bits. I've changed hundreds of these over the years at my shop and you either got a really good one of these or a really bad one...no in between
I read all the negatives about this car but they are out there, ones with 200,000 miles on them and happy owners who will by another Chrysler product. I know an ass for every seat, but I am speaking facts. Many people swear by their Chrysler product.
I have a 2.4L SXT, and I understand all the hate this car gets. I personally think it's a decent daily driver. The looks do not match the power and the interior is not the best of quality. But to me, it runs and looks kinda neat. However I would've prefered the 3.5L V6...or literally any other Dodge for that matter.
How? Seemed like a reasonably priced commuter car. I don't see these in my area but I do like the exterior look and the features this apparently could be optioned with - Cooled/heated cup holders is something that would easily sway my Starbucks addicted wife lol.

One of the worst cars Dodge ever made. These had the garbage 2.7L V-6 and the interior materials were awful. The 3.5L was better, but those 6AT’s are garbage too. I’ve driven a bass 2.4L 4 model. Ugh, felt like a rental car. Radiates Big Altima Energy.
