Same to you and your family! Have a great Christmas!!
Now, most of the Tsunami2 (and Blunami) do need resistors for LEDs. There are some boards, such as the BH1, BH2 and the KN1 that are pre-regulated for LEDs.
But the question is why do we "force' you to add resistors? This is because no two installs are the same, and not everyone uses LEDs.. But even between multiple users of LEDs, one will complain that the LED is too bright, then the next will complain that it is not bright enough. So if you add your own LEDs, then normally you know the resistor needed to get the brilliance you desire. And in some cases, you may want to use different values for different lights. A firebox light will be much brighter than a small walkway light. So, you get to choose. and the resistors are not very expensive so get a small collection of the various values and go.
I have used 1k primarily in most of my headlights, but 3.3k for number boards and I've even used a 7.5k to tone down the oil lamp headlight on my HO General. That allows me to adjust the light brilliance to match the purpose of the light.
The BH1, BH2 and KN1 are pre-regulated because they are specific to a model, where the other boards are more generic and can be installed into anything. So they need to be more universal..
I hope this helps. Contact us at Support@SoundTraxx.com for more details if you desire..
