Folks who’ve never worked in restaurants will NEVER get how complex and stressful this job is.
Your absolutely correct! Good luck out there friend
when im tripple sat i scream out yall see this? to my guests they laugh and their expectations drop down and i cruise through my tables with every guest telling me i can order when you are ready.its like they be all waiting on me and i apologize and collect my fat sympathy tips😂
That’s one way to handle it if it works for you 😂 good story 💕
I was always taught to treat it like 1 big table
How?
That's how I do it too. So if you had a table of 15 you would take all their drink orders first. Then go make those drinks, drop the drinks off then take their food orders. But when you get double, triple, or even quadruple sat I do the same thing. I go to table 1 take their drink orders then go to table 2 and take their drink order and so on with table three. I then bring all their drinks at the same time, just like you would with the party of 15. Then I take their food order.
But I've always found there is a minor downside to this. When you serve tables this way, there is a pretty good chance that all your tables will also leave roughly at the same time. And if you work in a busy restaurant there is a good chance that you will get triple sat again.

I have found success in talking tables into desserts. If you have 3 tables that are all wrapping up at the same time, you can probably convince one or two tables to split a dessert. This staggers them and prevents all 3 tables from getting up at the same time.
OMG!! This is the best simple, convincing trick of trade! Thank you!!
@@x.varnie well few different ways to do it especially if they all get sat at the. Exact same time. U can do quick greets basically welcome them and ask if they want water then do drinks table to table . Then the food some are more ready then others and some need time use that to ur advantage
I am serving around 15 tables at the same time
Thats around 60 people
It used to be stressful for me but I teached myself how to handle those with ease
If its super extra busy I would give one table the menus and say hi
I go to the next one and offer drinks
Then I get back... this is really complicated to explain but dont worry
Eventually youll become a master
Great advice. Portion it out between each table and increasingly add more attention/service over time!!!
:)
Thank you so much I'm gonna try this and see how it goes. I feel so bad cause I was panicking during service. You're awesome
I just started working in Waikiki on Oahu, it's crazy, there's a line out the door from 7am till after 1pm sometimes..this was helpful, thank you🙂👍 Thank god we have a hostess to control things at times lol
That was the best advice i have heard on getting triple sat. Thats how i always did it.
Thank you!!! Very helpful advice😊
I’m so glad to help
How come you don't make drinks for all three (or four) tables at once and then mention you'll be right back to take their order after you drop off their drinks? It's possible that guests may have to wait up to ten minutes just to receive their drinks.
Its easy for you to forget all the drinks that 3+ tables just ordered
Also you’re not putting yourself in a position where you have to tell a table who is ready to order that you can’t take their order right now
Great advice ! Real advice ! Thank u for sharing 💪
This literally clarified sm thank you
informative, concise and short❤️
Pro tip- run multiple table drinks on one tray works wonders for me every single night an example would be getting double sat and taking both drink orders and taking both at the same time
Loved this, I work high volume, mutiple sats with 4-10 ppl per table can get outta control
Thank you!!
Multiple sats with that many guests is incompetence on behalf of management and\or host most of the time
I worked at a place with 10 tables and there was only one server per shift on a Friday night. People all walked in at almost the same time and there was no hostess, busser, manager either, so it was all me. My boss told me not to send orders from more than one table. I made a lot of money, but it was brutal on my body. I work at a country club right now and it is so much better.
I worked at a 300 seat bar, one day I was alone no busser or anything and got 34 tables at once . Worst day of 10 years of serving experience . It was brutal , made awful money , a few tables didn’t even get a hello from me for over 45 min.
Thanks man i needed this now i have a better idea as to how to handle double sat and triple sat
Thanks cause I normally just clean but I’m trying to become a server now so wish me luck 🍀😊
Good luck 👍 🙂
Very awesome tip :) Thank you!
Glad it helped you!
Thank you so much for your video ❤
Your welcome! Glad to help
The kitchen gets mad when I go through and put in table food order after order. They prefer we send the order and then give them a minute or two before sending the second. That’s when I drop silverware. How do you go about prioritizing over big parties vs having ten other normal sized tables? I get stuck on a big party while three smaller tables are sitting with their drinks, and then waiting for me to put in the 25 top order 😤 should I take care of the smaller tables first? Since the big tables are usually parties and having conversations?
Its tough sometimes you just have to use your judgement with big parties. 1 thing to know is they usually hug and greet each other for a long time before settling down at the table. So that gives you an extra few moments to prep for them or check on your booths
When I hear “surge your getting a big party in a few minutes” I instantly go pour 6 waters with no ice cuz most likely they will need waters with alcohol or just want water. That way I’m half way done with making their drink order before they even order it (sometimes making the drink order is the most work for the table). I also will visit my small booths before I do any long intro or order taking from the big party cuz they will take a lot of my time and the little booths will be waiting.
So give the party time to settle in and use that time to get ready for them. With the kitchen I usually tell them while passing through “hey guys get ready in 2 minutes I’m putting in food for my 12 top” so they can be expecting a big order
If it’s a 25 too depending on how fine your restaurant is they shouldn’t give you more than a few tables on top of your party 25 is a lot of work for one server. I handle it every Christmas 25 tops one after another soon as one party leaves they clean and seat another 25 but it’s great money
If I am in that situation
I just go in the kitchen and ask to prioritize the smaller orders.
It is really not that complicated.
If a cook starts dramatising just remember, hes a drama-queen
Thanks! This has helped
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
You are right to keep going back to them
Even if you fumble on a table in the beginning I’ve learned it’s best to finish strong and confident even saying “thank you for your patience” helps. Finish strong no matter what
Thank u for this
I kind of do this exactly the same but if my drink tray is big enough to take out for 3 tables I do so. Then after that I go to the first table and do what you do. Might try this out next time I get slammed
Bro thank you!
Of course!
You are so much help. What do you do to handle being sat at 3 tables at a time, and the first table is ready to order their food and you just delivered your drinks. Because once they order their food, i have to bring out salads, soups, and bread out to them before their food comes out. But i still haven't dropped off the drinks at the other tables!
Thank you for watching in your comment is wonderful you keep me going.
If the table is ready to take the order early write it down. Write the food and drink down at the exact same time. Then go tend to your other two tables get their drink orders written down. Then go put the food order in your computer and all the drink orders for all tables then go Bring out drinks table by table .
Thank you!
My issue is not with the new tables but when triple sat, my previous tables are now suffering and need to cash out , have me process their card etc, prebus, ..the new tables stress me because of the existing tables. 🙁 Any advice? Great video, btw. Thank you. 🙏
What if you have to grab bread before greeting the tables ? How does this change the order of trying to get to all 3
Thanks man
Excellent video. Experienced bartender and server here but I'm currently at a place where I'm the bartender for the restaurant and have a section of up to sixteen tables. I'll have a line of other servers telling me they need drinks and I can't seem to get to my own tables. Can you offer advice?
There is no real advice for that. Your section is simply way too large. I would talk to management and be like "I need a server in my section"
16 tables is simply insane for one person and to also make drinks for the rest of the restaurant is just crazy. I'm also a bartender. I don't have a section I just serve the people sitting at the bar. So 15-20 people max and even with that small amount I have to work fast to keep up with all my customers and all the drinks my coworkers are ringing in.
Just curious if you're still working there and if anything has changed?
What happens if you get 10’tables at once , during brunch when everyone wants to make up their own menu? I’m having a hard time figuring that one out even after years of experience
My friend is back at Claim Jumper and has said this happens to her. The management focuses on to go and deliveries well she asked to manage 13 tables at a time with no hostess to control the seating
Happened to me before , if ur the only server they understand and just fuckin run i did it with no expo , no hostess no bartender
@@IamPowerSurgeOfficial no fuckin way she must be Wonder Woman Nd Mother Nature herself 😂😂😂🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 I just did a 9 hour shift 7 by myself nd multiple parties 😂😂 great money but lord 13 at once the start of brunch my mind is freakin out for her 😂😂😂
@@philipcordeiro9396 how were drinks made?? Did management hop on bar im prayin for you 😂😂😂🙏🏾🙏🏾
Go home? Kidding...but that sounds ridiculous! Even quintuple is VERY rough
This is very helpful, but I did exactly that today and I still had a table walk out on me 😢
What about my other tables? Every time I work it seems, I get triple/quadruple sat while I have 3-4 more tables. And I work at AYCE so those tables still need care. I always collapse
Pace yourself if you still in the game
Yeah, but you forgot about the other eight tables that were there before those three tables were seated
I wish they had used the proper, grammatically correct version of "you're" in this video title. Punctuation aside this was a super helpful video!
Thank you for that I just realized it’s the wrong “your” glad you enjoyed the video!
When and why did you stop serving?
I went to Thailand just after holidays 2018 and didn’t return after. When I returned from the kingdom my claim jumper store was slow and soon after closed 😭
Do you send the 3 orders at the same time ? I'm starting in this but i think that if at least 2 of those tables are ready to order and u send the 2 or 3 orders at the same time the kitchen can get mad :/
You should always punch the order in asap after you take it. Nobody in the back of the house should blame you fot that or get mad
It doesnt mean anything that the chits ring through at the same time. They make the orders first come first serve one at a time no matter what
Hey thanks for your comment! I totally will send two or 3 orders in at the same time the kitchen at least knows what to make and starts it. I put in the apps and hit send then i start punching in entrees that way soup and salad are on the way before I even put in entrees. I’ll take 2 or 3 orders without going back to computer if I have to. It’s better to have the orders and the customers know you prioritize them than for the kitchen to get angry. Our kitchen is well staffed with awesome cooks we can handle 20,000-30,000 in sales in a night with a good crew
@@IamPowerSurgeOfficial thanks for sharing your knowledge with us, i'm trying to get better at serving cuz i have the customer service but i'm missing some skills to get shit done as fast as possible, i swear that this video helped me a lot, thanks dude wish you the best 💪😎🍻

Just out of curiosity, which restaurant did Sean train you at? Wondering if it's my husband.
It was at Haus of pizza in Costa Mesa over a decade ago. Sean was one of the best managers , servers and trainers I ever met

Well wait til they put you in the party room on a shift 😂😂😂😂
This year I actually really missed holidays at Claim Jumper. They used to give me parties of 30 one after the next! Each group would give me $80-120$ tip! Xmas and thanks giving I used to make 300$ on a 8 hour shift 💰😎💰
@@IamPowerSurgeOfficial Dovthe parties typically stay long? Because 8 hours only 300 with those checks probably in the 400s-1000s maybes my guy where is the love ??? Dat should be doubled most likely ya tip out is what kills you but I feel like you should be clearing at least 500-600 I just did 533 tonight on a 9 hour shift 7 by myself Nd I shoulda did more had some walk outs they seen the business Nd my managers had to take like four tables but I coulda did at least 600-700 i never give robot though when I serve we come to eat and enjoy I always put myself on the other side ya know. However you can still be efficient too lol balance my guy I believe the days you have time you’re probably waaay better than me but I feel as the hospitality industry we tend to lose the hospitality because of the money Nd time we can make it in
I clicked your video to see a SUPER waiter carrying a *HUGE* tray. Very disappointed. 👎
The guy in the picture is a badass
@@IamPowerSurgeOfficial Is that you? I would like to know the technique to handle a large tray.
Clickbait
It could be very informative but you are repeating yourself a lot
Sorry I was newer at speaking on camera back then
