It's going to be ironic if this is a hit and the old Pillars of Eternity games are seen in the same way as Fallout 1 and 2 are compared to the rest of the series.
Obsidian has made the point of saying that Avowed is “open zone” rather than open world, so I’m happy to hear that it’s open enough that Bruce assumed it was fully open world.
@@MisterZimbabwe It is if you want something with replayability. I went through Outer Worlds once and never picked it up again. Should've bought it on sale.

I have to say, I really love the way this game looks. I was very sceptical at first because I was expecting a darker game like in the trailer. Coastal, tropical settings for RPGs are quite rare. The only other game I remember doing that is PoE2 ofcourse and Rysen 2.
I'm intrigued because it's obsidian and that automatically means it's going to contain the one thing that's been lacking in every single recent Bethesda game: Good Writing
I couldn't possibly have as much faith as you. The writing in Outer Worlds was really lackluster, I couldn't tell you a single thing that happened in that game's story, and I played it twice. If you're thinking this just because you're under the impression that Obsidian wrote New Vegas, 99% of the team that worked on New Vegas is no longer at Obsidian, and Josh Sawyer seemingly has nothing to do with Avowed.

it was a 13 -16 hour game that had no real ending, all of the skills are pointless in such a short game. what was the point of any of it if its so short why have the skills at all? there was barely any loot in the game, none of it was good either. the outer worlds was such an over rated under cooked game, to imagine they wanted $60 for the release of it WITHOUT the dlc the game is legit 13 hours long.
I loved it for what it was, took me 25-27 hours because I take a while to progress thru the main story, I get side tracked a lot. I actually love a short sweet game, it’s like getting a movie with a hour and a half runtime. Not everything needs to be long, it’s preferred most of the time but it’s refreshing to experience a smaller scale story or game. It’s like listening or reading a short scary story after reading a long Stephen king book. It’s a nice palette cleanser
Skyrim's best competitor was Oblivion, Oblivion's best competitor was Morrowind, and Morrowind's best competitor was Daggerfall. Weird how every Bethesda game is significantly worse than the last before it.
I can't think of many first-person perspective games that have player mo-cap at all, maybe Cyberpunk but usually it's for third-person action games or NPC's
Man, this game looks great. I dont mind janky if the game is engaging enough, and it looks very engaging to me. Hope they release a collectors edition. Also, we have only seen the beginning portion of the game. im sure we will get those wow moments later
What I'm getting from these last previews is that Avowed seems to have stuff that both Starfield and Veilguard didn't seem to have. Or at least things that a lot of people have complained that are lacking about those games: good dialogue plus well rounded characters, and a nice classic open world, built by hand, to explore. I really hope this game is as good as what it seems now, fingers crossed.
I feel like the reason people feel like so many new games suck nowadays, is because companies are so hung up on making the cleanest and prettiest game possible. If the games fun and has content, it will sell and people will play it. Why do you think a game like Fallout or Skyrim has so many players STILL to this day? Those games and animations are janky has hell.
Cause it was supposed to originally come out around this time then it got delayed. So I think the studio just wanted to give the fans something plus extra marketing
I personally don't understand wanting to have realistic/real life style looking RPG games if I want something that looks like my eavyday life I will watch movies and tv shows.
