Loving the fact that we're sitting here now in 2022 having seen these 4 do something similar in The Power of The Doctor, seems appropriate to revisit Zagreus somehow 😊
For example, you can believe that the Sixth Doctor just bumped his head in Time and the Rani and regenerated into Seven. Then, you can believe that the novel "Spiral Scratch" happened, where he was weakened prior to his regeneration so that the bump on the head just happened to be the straw that broke the camels back. Then, you can also believe that the Doctor consciously commited suicide to become Time's Champpion, as detailed in the eponimous novel, or that a dormant Seventh consciousness...
Better them being a peanut gallery in his head than them being actively able to take control of the Doctor’s newest body like the Ten/the Eleven/the Twelve/etc was stuck with… Big Finish really should have called that time lord something like: Legion, the Collective, the System, etc instead of just using whatever number incarnation they’re on with a The in front of it…
What if all the "dead" incarnations of the Doctor actually just wandered around in the current Doctor's head. Just talking and hanging out. Commenting on the current Doctors way of dealing with stuff.
What if all the "dead" incarnations of the Doctor actually just wandered around in the current Doctor's head. Just talking and hanging out. Commenting on the current Doctors way of dealing with stuff. And now I'm picturing the flashback parts of Extremis with the seventh and eighth doctors providing commentary.
I think this is fantastic. Man I think Paul, Sylvester, Colin, Peter. All of the did a brilliant job, I loved the five doctor's reboot. My goodness hilarious. Shame they did not get a part into the 50th.
Supposedly in the Day of the Doctor novel/audiobook the time crash had all the Doctor’s iterations having tea in the Under Gallery after they saved Gallifrey…
Yes, exactly! And there are official novels (and one or two audio dramas) like "World Game" and "Helicon Prime" that actively encourage this theory by being placed in that very time slot. There are even old TV Action comics where the Second Doctor was banished to Earth but not forcefully regenerated until some time later ("The Nightwalkers"). This stuff is official, so at least it hold some substance and is "credible", canon-wise.
If that were the case, the Mary Shelley Ep wouldn't have been made. He was never in sync with fandom after his first 15 mins of fame with Open Air so the books, comics, and audios mean nothing to him

@@korystephens3318 You are just salty because canon dosen't apply to you anymore.
@brigeboy95 That is true, but Big Finish are not allowed to use Aliens or characters created for the new series, and the other way round, so they'll never acknowledge each other officially. Big Finish sometimes does some sneaky references, for example in "The Kingmaker" the Fifth Doctor writes himself a note to deliver a letter next time he passes by seventeenth century England. The receiver then wonders who that "northern bloke with the big ears and the leather jacket" was.
I have to agree with Seven! His way of regenerating was way worse than Six! I mean, being declared dead and then regenarating into a morgue! Not very funny, is it?!
I see what you mean! It's a bit like people believing that the Second Doctor still experienced adventures after "The War Games" and before "Spearheads in Space!".
But if you count the novel and audio The Nightmare Fair the Sixth Doctor did get to Blackpool. Presumably the Doctor meant he didn't get to Blackpool exactly after Revelation of the Daleks.
@outofthegreenmist I believe it's the fact that they're aspects pulled from the Eighth Doctor's mind, thus they'd be aware of everything that's happened to the Doctor up to his eight regeneration.
@Richiepookinshoo They're all of his incarnations speaking to him from inside his own mind. Each individual personality seems to stay somewhere in the Doctor's subconscious, and, in a weird way, "Live" through him, although buried deep down. It's probably how each Doctor has memories of their past incarnations.
Well, maybe it's just after the phenomenal 2nd season of McGann's (a season that's even better than most tv seasons of Who, imo), Zagreus just seemed sort of, well, dissapointing. Maybe my standards were just too high, but really, on the 40th anniversary, did anyone really give a fuck about the eternal war between Goldilocks and the Three Bears? Sorry, that's just the biggest complaint I have about the story that always niggles me. But this part was certainly magical!
It's been a while since I listened to this, so I forget the context in which the other Doctor's appeared, but how could 5, 6 and 7 know about their future regenerations into their successors? Surely, it would be 7 who remembers the bang on the head, and so on? How could 7 remember regenerating into 8?
I was reading in either Seven or Eight’s tardis wiki page that Seven kept having a precog vision of dying while music from Madam Butterfly was playing… which is what Grace was listening to while operating on the Seventh Doctor… So it’s not impossible for Seven to have seen more visions regarding his death…
The Silence is actually Zagreus? could it be the power is coming back to try to claim its prize from the Doctor also this sounds like they are on the cusp of the time War because its sounds like Rasilon is desperate
@brigeboy95 Of course, I think BF is canon to the TV Series, that is, Classic Who. But there are so very few ties to New Who that the Silence just can't be Zagreus. Yet. Until someone writes an officially released story that they are the agents of the Lord of Anti-Time. There's a difference between making stuff up and stuff that's clearly linked together where you can decide whether it's part of your personal canon or not.
@KingLofiOne Though it hasn't quite stopped them from making some subtle references from what I've heard. As you can tell, I love the audio dramas. But, I wouldn't be opposed to some of the New Series Doctors or characters making appearances. The Ninth Doctor happens to be my favorite of them all, lol.
@doctorw2 Well, it won't be the Silence as the Big Finish audio episodes are not part of the TV series canon. That's how it officially is. However, that doesn't mean the audio plays are bad. I rather enjoy them.
@brigeboy95 ...took control over the Sixth in and made him regenerate so that Six in fact holds a grudge against Seven for effectively murdering him to be born and will one day becomeValeyard to take revenge on the Doctor, as detailed in "Love and War". You can believe all of it happened, some of it happened, or nothing at all. That's what Build-Your-Own-Canon means. It's not things like "I think Rose Tyler is the Rani in disguise, and the Silence must be Zagreus". There's no substance for that.
Sorry guys, can't upload any more. I've lost my Big Finish credentials (temporarily) and the computer containing the audio dramas has been rendered out of service...(Also temporarily), xD
Ah, this is a great moment, with all the 4 doctors featured on the cover actually meeting up, even in death. The ONLY part of Zagreus I actually like. I wonder why?
Ok looked it up, it seems it's reused recordings of some sort or maybe previously unseen recordings. There's no other way he could we included. I saw he was credited, which means some recording was re-used.
The amount of Audio Dramas he made more than made up for his lack of on screen time. However, I agree that the 8th doctor may have been my favourite TV doctor.
Dean Punk if you look back at the plans for what could have been the 8th Doctor TV series....Mccgann actually got a much better deal doing the audio dramas. His TV show's stories would've been the equivalent of an american reboot of key episodes from the classic series, just thought u should know, try and lookup the concept scripts :)
Loving the fact that we're sitting here now in 2022 having seen these 4 do something similar in The Power of The Doctor, seems appropriate to revisit Zagreus somehow 😊
I suspect that's where Chibnall cribbed the idea from if he listens to BF. Of course, this scene did it better. MUCH better.
Still this audio sucks.
when the sixth doctor says 'I never got to Blackpool' = the biggest in-joke EVER
Why I love Big Finish! You can get so many good multi doctor stories and not have to worry about what the doctor looks like, just genius!
dang3race2 I know, right? I literally closed my eyes as I listened and pictured the actors.
I love how sylvester had to roll his "r" when he said " I am Zagrrrrreus." Ah I love him
Love it when Colin baker said I never got to Blackpool, a great reference to his cancelled series
*laughs in Big Finish circa 2009*
You did, Colin, you did
We got something like this onscreen recently in The Power Of The Doctor.
"And I very much fear the moment's NOT been prepared for..."
CLASSIC!
"And I very much fear the moment has not been prepared for"

I don't get it?

Love The Sixth Doctor's reference to the Lost Season 23
Did the Guardians of the Edge thing in Power of the Doctor remind anyone else of this scene?

I love how Six and Seven complain about their deaths at the start.
My 4 favourite Doctors exchanging banter. What could be better?
"the doctor lives???"
"oh no he doesn't."
fucking savage
McGann really needs to come back for the Golden Age. It's been far too long.
What if all the "dead" incarnations of the Doctor actually just wandered around in the current Doctor's head. Just talking and hanging out. Commenting on the current Doctors way of dealing with stuff.
I'm pretty sure they do - it would be amusing to see/hear.

That would explain why 13 seems to be somewhat of a hodgepodge.

And then there's Power of the Doctor.
I wonder if Peter, Colin, Sylvester and Paul were in the studio togheter when they recorded this!

"Whatever will the critics say?"
*DAMN* that's good.
'i never got to blackpool....'
great line for the sixth doctor
I always wandered what listening in on the Doctors fever dream would be like.
The 6th doctor is soooo much better with some good writing, love Davison and McCoy with McGann.
I'd quite like his next regeneration to be similar to this, meeting his previous incarnations and all that.
Lol TUAT
Well we did get something similar of sorts on The Power of The Doctor

It's a shame McGann only had one on screen appearance as the Doctor. Imagine if these four men were on screen? It would be awesome.

At the end of any of the Eighth Doctor Big Finish Audios. Elsewhere, I'm unsure.
They'd have to get another licence from the beeb to do animations, because their current licence only covers the classic series on audio only.
