I can't believe ALL this time it wasn't until the Last Dragon did I realize I needed to change the game name. The Mad Max DOF version came w/the name already changed and up until now, the main ROM folder was empty so I didn't encounter a conflict. This helped me see why BTTF was showing up on TLG...thank you!!
Good clear explanation , much appreciated. I'm running a cab with PinUp Popper installed. Without getting into too much detail why , my system is installed on the E drive rather than C , It seems the system path for the VPMAlias.txt file is C:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME. Is there a change I can make to my system somewhere to change it to E:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME ? My ROM directory is there and works fine but even having created a duplicate folder E:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME\VPMAlias.txt , the system defaults to the C drive. Would appreciate some wisdom :-)
Thaks a lot. It helped me with The Last Dragon (but still getting sound and music from BTTF together). In Mousin' Around I disabled the Ace of Speed DMD videos, but I also lost the original voices and music from Mousin' Around.
Thanks for the help from Thalamus with the table script I was able to make the music from Mousin' Around to play. About The Last Dragon, it appears to be like this, with sound fx from BTTF table. So, there's nothing to do about, I guess. John Memeo, you rock!
Newbie question. So I have the Halloween pup packs for Simpsons and South Park and would run to run those packs, but when I boot up those tables I get the original pup packs. The tables are Halloween but the packs are not. I know this is an easy fix, but any help would rock. Thanks!!
For the Halloween PuPs make an alias - like simpprtyh and rename the PuP folders to match. You need to make the cgamename match whatever alias you create.
hey @John Memeo i could really use you help mate. I cant seem to get 4 pup packs working on 4 tables. i have a cabinet i bought pre done but 4 games dont seem to work.
How do I turn off the normal ROM sounds for a table w/the PUP? My example is Galaxy Quest. I'm running the Space Shuttle table and Galaxy Quest so I need the sound on the SS table but not GQ?!
@@hawkeyez888 I have info on 2 lines to add to the table script I'm just struggling to find, exactly, where they go. It's to turn the ROM sounds off when starting the table and turn them back on when exiting.

@@mrbigdaddykool7648 That's correct. For nfl the line would look something like nlfbuf, nlf. With nflbuf being in the cgamename on the table script, as an example.
Am I missing when to use this or fubaring it up. Diamond Lady and Harley Quinn use the diamond rom. I want to use the full dmd puppack videos by Adam. So I edit Harley Quinn to use diamondhq since Diamond Lady uses diamond as the rom name. ( I made the fulldmd puppack for it and works fine) I made a directory in the puppack videos diamondhq put in the directory DMDFULL and put the mp4 file. Edit the HQ vpx file for cgamename as diamondhq. built the puppack in the editor. makes the 3 files. Run HQ vpx and get can't find the cgamename error. WTH am I brain farting on ?
@@hawkeyez888 Hello. Thanks. Yes I put that in it. Like now Wild Wild West V2.0 uses dvlsdre rom. I change the WWW to dvlsdreww rom, alias it to dvlsdrexww, dvlsdre and then get can't find dvlsdreww.
Why ya gotta call me out like this? BTW I've found naming the table inside the alias file helps you know which alised rom goes with which table/pack. So like in the script and pup-pack rename the table to Mando, then in the alias file you'd put "mando, cybernaut" you'll find once you have quite a few of these tables aliased, it's hard to keep track with what rom goes to what table if you just use the rom name and add a letter or number. **NOTE this method I'm describing might cause issues with DOF though, so be careful!**

Thanks, seeing it is often easier than reading and figuring it out :P
Thanks for this! This frustrated the hell out of me and I was avoiding asking the question.
Glad it helped! It's a fairly new feature as well!
Thanks John as always very informative and great work.

I hear there's some new features out there to do this. But it's really up to the table author to implement when they do these reskins.

If you're talking about the "sound" =0 line it goes under your Table1_Init sub. The other goes at the end of the table.
