My favorite mnemonic for remembering purines and pyrimidines: Pure As Gold (purines are adenine and guanine) CUT the py (pie) (pyrimidines are cytosine, uracil, and thymine)
Im doing PharmD now, and always find myself coming back to these videos to refresh some fundamentals. The amount of information you cover in 7 minutes while also being that clear is incredible. Thank you, Professor.
It is always my pleasure to get your videos, which i then use in class to sum up my lectures. Here in Uganda, my students like your explanations. Of course they like your hairstyle too!
I am just speechless of listening and watching this professor that has got so much in his mind to tell and another thing that just poped in was he might not a human, hahahah. Well done again Professor Dave ✊
Sir, i'm confused about your videos' contens because in my country we've already learned that in the high school. And i'm a med student in the university now.Can you explain whether Is this for university or not?Thank you for ur amazing explanation skills and graphics👏
Amazing videos, just wanted to clarify that how many nucleotide units does an average DNA molecule have? And also genes are loads of DNA molecules put together or certain segments of different DNA molecules?
@@ProfessorDaveExplains I understand that chromosomes are condensed chromatids and a chromosome is divided into segments which are genes. Is a gene made up of DNA molecules or are genes sections of various DNA molecules and not the whole of different DNA molecules? Is this right? (so basically genes are composed of not all but some nucleotides of various DNA molecules?)
@@ProfessorDaveExplains right so the whole chromosome is one DNA molecule but genes are only sections (a few nucleotide clusters) of that DNA molecule that makes the entire chromosome, right?

Sir how should we answer if we are asked that why is DNA our genetic material and not proteins
Because the dna codes for the proteins

millions of nucleotides per DNA molecule. genes are sections of DNA molecules called chromosomes.
