A story from WWII was that if you attacked an unknown location and you got accurate, spaced shots, they were British; if a hail of machine gun fire, they were German; if there was a pause, then all hell broke loose with bombs, artillery, and mortars, they were Americans.

I will say, that even from a young age, my mother always told us, "Never start a fight. But if somebody starts one with you, then you damn well finish it." I think that pretty much sums up the American way.

Absolutely America rarely starts shit but they always finish it. It’s only ever a war when someone decides to shoot at them. Even terms of engagement are basically “wait till they shoot first” hell they actively handicap themselves by getting the lowest priced weaponry and weighing down their planes because, and I quote “you learn more from losing than winning” they WANT the enemy to hit them so they can scan for weaknesses. It’s why the US always loses at War Games yet are the most terrifying army.

It's a step beyond that too. If those aren't russian troops, why would they send planes after all? They couldn't overtly engage without causing a major escalation of conflict and that would have been a bad time because we were just fucking getting warmed up.

What binary said… plus… going against the F22 in an actual combat scenario.. is basically suicide. Like legit suicide. The F22’s radar could pick those planes up from 150 miles away with its radar and take them out before the raptor was ever seen. I saw this plane at an air show this past summer and I will confidently say it was the highlight of my summer seeing the most feared airplane in the world show just a fraction of its capabilities for the public.

One of my favorite lines comes from the movie Enders Game. A bully had been ...well, bullying another much smaller boy. Eventually it came to a confrontation where the smaller boy surprised the bully by fighting back with unexpected savagery and brutality. When the adults confronted the boy and asked him, "Once the bully was down and you won, why did you continue hitting him?" His answer, "I won that fight, but I had to make sure I won every fight after." Translation: Hurt your enemy so bad that the very thought of them ever striking back is too horrifying to even consider. An example was made of these Russian mercs.

I mean, does it make much difference? If anything that means they're supposedly more capable than the average Russian conscript.
The political significance I suppose is that technically the US and Russia haven't killed each other officially, which supposedly cascades into potential nuclear war. But it seems Russia knows they would lose regardless, and there's also some chance most of their nukes are no longer functional. They are apparently incredibly difficult and expensive to maintain, and we've seen how well they take care of every other piece of machinery. Still, the threat is still kind of real, and even if a small percentage work that's still a pretty bad day for the world.

    • @AbruptandOffensive
      @AbruptandOffensive Рік тому +1

@@EricLing64 makes a HUGE difference. One is beholden to national governance of the Kremlin while the other is a private company.
That’s why Prigozhin COULD threaten to pull his fighters from Bakhmut and Putin couldn’t stop them but at the same time Russian MOD forces have to do exactly what the Kremlin tells them to.
Sometimes they work hand in hand but at the end of the day Prigozhin can do whatever he wants with his soldiers.
And the most significant factor is the American military can kill thousands of Wagners and Russia can’t do anything about it and will actively deny Wagner like they did at Conoco.
It’s easier for Putin to justify Americans killing Wagners to the Russian ppl. He can’t explain Russian soldiers being killed by Americans.
So the fact that it was Wagners and not Russian MOD means Russia CAN NOT escalate or retaliate.

You asked a very good question, why did Russia keep its aircraft on the ground?
It’s because they knew who they were picking a fight with. US forces have in the past sometimes abandoned a position to avoid confrontation with Russian forces. The Russian commanders thought we might do that this time.
When that didn’t happen they knew at once any and all aircraft they send up they are going to lose, *and* that US forces would expand their counter-attack to include those airfields.
They knew that not only would they lose every plane they sent up, but they would lose every plane on the ground.
Keeping their aircraft grounded was the smartest move they made.

11:30 "It was like God-damned training day..."
I dunno about that. Even in the US Army Signal Corps we'd have damage to equipment and some minor casualties (minor injuries requiring sickcall, like twisting ankles or similar) during training. You could say our training is a bit harsher. But we do go off the saying 'Train as you Fight.' Better to have issues in training and perfection in the real thing.
But yeah, the Russians got torn up bad. As shown in the video most of their dead had to be ID'd by dental record or DNA testing. The US used to excel at stacking bodies. Now we just puree them, high-five each other, chest bump, and go back to playing video games and shamming.
Just think about that, especially if your government considers the US an adversary. You're just in the way of us getting back to our video games and goofing off. That's all our enemies are to us. An inconvenience. These Wagners were the best Russia had. They were less annoying than a cricket you can't find in your barracks room. But they made the most common mistake made, they mistook kindness and mercy for weakness.

It was basically turn around or die. And they didn't turn around...

First shots fired by Wagner, one Kurdish fighter mildly wounded. The US response:
    Reaper Drone- 2 missiles
    155 artillery
HIMARS - at least two full loads
    A130 Gunship with 105mm, 40mm, and 20mm weapons
4 Apache gunships with 16 missiles each and thousands of 30mm machine gun rounds
B52 dropping 500 lb bombs to take out all armor
F15 and F22 for clean up duty.
All except F15 and F22 in the first 10 minutes.
Now you really know, "Why you don't mess with the US military"!!! We simply don't believe in a fair fight. If you choose to engage our military, expect a response disproportionately larger than anything you can offer. Add in the "precision" aspect of our weapons, and you can see how hopeless the attack was at conception. In the US military, every bomb, and missiles are assigned a target, and it won't be long until that feature is in every bullet, so the lethality of US strikes is also disproportionately greater. That's two exponential factors on the US side in any conflict, disproportionate responses added to disproportionate lethality of the attack. Impossible for any foe to overcome.

You asked why the Russian planes didn't take off? That's because the only way for the Russians to have an airplane while the Americans are in the air is to keep it on the ground, camouflaged as a wreck or a truck or a haystack. This is because we know the second they take off, what speed altitude and direction they take, and route missiles to them before they even reach contested airspace. The combined air forces of the entire planet wouldn't make it a few days playing air tag with the Americans, and they know it. There just isn't a way to fight a plane that can easily and reliably shoot you down from so far away you literally wouldn't even know it existed except for the rather self evident fact that something blew up your ride.

This one example, Vietnam had Russian and North Vietnamese fighter pilots flying Migs, Iraq War in early 90's our tanks whipped Iraqs Russian made T-tanks. Iraq was even battle hardend. list goes on. Equipment wins battles Logistics win wars.....Neither China nor Russia has that mastered even after this many years.

Funny how in the last year how Western equipment is getting wrecked in Ukraine and billions of dollars wasted of U.S. taxpayers money on a losing cause. A few weeks ago Russia paraded Western tanks that they captured in Ukraine, and Russians made jokes online that Western tanks have finally reached Moscow🤭 Also Col MacGregor admitted that artillery and shells provided, the Ukrainians would waste in 3 days. Also I find it amusing how America boasts its military superiority but just one Sarmat 2.0, also nicknamed the Satan, fired at the U.S., it is literally unstopabble and can manuever and change trajectory which even Scott Ritter admitted, the U.S. doesn't have the technology to stop it and is the most sophisticated missile technology in the world. The U.S. isn't what they used to be and is being overwhelmed taking on the responsibility of Ukraine, Israel, possibly Taiwan in the future as well.

what nearly every country forgets is that American military will set up surveillance of ANY hostile forces near them and just wait. with the level of surveillance technology that America has, we can see the lettering on a postage stamp from space, so a drone in the air above a potential battlefield is going to see just about everything that moves, even bugs. there is NO WAY to surprise the American military on the ground or in the air. you'd have to dig massive tunnels and even then we have ways to sensing that as well. even under the ocean won't help. who do you think has the better sensors and stealth attack subs?? the American military usually knows about what's going on HOURS before the first shot even happens. we're just spending that time giving the other side a chance to pull out without being wiped out AND setting up our weapons for use...

It requires you to fight 2 theaters of war at the same time anywhere on earth. To explain the definition means the country needs to be capable of fighting 2 Ukraine/Russia wars at the same time on opposite sides of the world.
