  • In this video we are at King Of The Hammers 2023. Spectating at King Of The Hammers seems to be getting more difficult every year. KOH is the largest Offroad Race located in Johnson Valley California.
    King Of The Hammers is a wild Rockcrawling and Baja 1000-style race all wrapped into one. There are many setup spectating areas, but we typically try to go to the more remote locations. While in the area we drive through Hammer Town. Basically for this race, 100,000 people get together and make a city known as Hmmertown on Means Dry Lakebed. The main access is through Boone Road off highway 247. We typically boondock near Bessimeer Mine road and offroad when we want to spectate.

      I've been going for about 10 years as a spectator, film crew, and/or a racer. I agree that spectating isn't what it used to be, but the cars aren't what they used to be either. With faster cars and way more people, you gotta keep them off the track. People feel like they have to be 2 inches away from the 800-1000hp monster trucks to enjoy themselves. I'm dreading the day someone's throttle sticks at back door or chocolate thunder.

    Excellent thanks I made it to about 4 miles from Bessemer Road. For some reason the Google maps took me through some pretty rough roads. I got stuck! Fortunately I can get un stock. I’m just gonna wait for the day to warm up a little bit to figure out my plan, and then continue on. I made the mistake of stopping and starting the sand gets a little deep here. I’m telling A Polaris with a Subaru crash track wilderness. It was handling the ride, just fine until I mistakenly got hung up on a rock. It’s the perfect way to start king of the hammers!

    Teen Wolf Running the grill at COCO Thunder 🤡🤡🤡🤡 Good Times Brother. We were actually just over the rig further up Turkey Claw away from all the people and it as pretty solid. While I'm with you on the spectating is a little subpar compared to how it was back in 2010 or prior. It's pretty clear why KOH has everyone so far back for safety. If you take kind of a 10,000-foot view of the entire event. All the vendors, Sponsors, Medical staff, Restrooms, Media, the Races, live music,etc. It really is pretty impressive that they pull it all off. Especially here in CA.

      Yeah it's pretty wild that CA let's them do the event. I really wonder how long it will last. I guess I just miss the good ole days.

    Everybody seems using fully equip modified 4x4 but the wagoneer pretty much standards only few long travel suspension, I guess. I love that. The Wagoneer just like a senior citizen among a freshman college boys go for hiking trip. Proof as a legends. 👍🏼👍🏼 thumbs up.
    Its not the modified rig we are talking about but who’s the man behind the steering wheel 😁😁👍🏼👍🏼
    Best Regards from Wagoneer owner.

    JV is huge, I’ll never understand why people camp in hammertown. Cruising the desert with buddies between spots is my favorite part of the event.

    I’m glad I’m not the only one in bed by 8 pm… down with the sun, up with the sun 😂
    That is some intense rock climbing at the end, not sure I’d have the patience for that lol

    Can you recommend a place for me to set up camp along Bessemer Mine Road? Really appreciate the tip! You mentioned mile marker 60, but that was a destination, not your camp site last year I take it. Thx!

    Nice shots. Was that the 360 for the side shots from the Jeep in the whoops? Perfect camera for it if so.

      Yes! It works so good for that exact shot! No need to have someone follow along side us.

      @@AdventureEndeavor It took me a few times seeing that shot before I realized how you got it. It's so clean with no view of the pole at all. Nice. I also noticed you worked it out where there's no shadow on the Jeep from the pole. That shows for just a second in another shot. See, people notice the work you put in, man. Ha.

    We've been going to hammers for almost 10 years. When people ask me how it is, the first thing i tell them is we dont go to watch the race. We go for the $hit show night life.

    • @AdventureEndeavor
      @AdventureEndeavor  6 місяців тому +1

      Same, it use to be a lot better for spectators back in the day

    • @DABKOP
      @DABKOP 6 місяців тому +1

      @AdventureEndeavor absolutely. We almost stopped going when spectating went bad and prices went up. We just have so much fun wheeling and hanging out at night it's become a family tradition.

    This will be my 1st year going,just wanna check it out(Friday thru Sunday). Have a basic tent setup. Can you help us tent campers understand the place a bit better as far as bathroom/shower/food,what to bring to stay/sleep warm,some do’s/don’t’s,etc?
    Thanks for the cool video

      Don't cross the course, I would camp on the outskirts of hammertown. It's going to be very dusty, they have portapotties in town, have no idea about showers

    I completely disagree, they have multiple view areas in major obstacle areas, Jumbo TV's, Wifi, restrooms, food vendors, and live streaming. They could not make it any easier.
