That is quite easy in a unimog I have a 416 myself and I drive it a lot in offroad conditions as a service truck for heavy equipment had it for more than 15 years now and I have driven more than 150000 km with it . It has a hookloader and 8000 kg hydraulic winch with 75 meter cable and radio remote so it's good truck for offroad recovery .

Unimog, the universal mobile Gerät, ie a tool. The wheels are more a necessity to allow it to get where its on-board generator, the engine, is needed to power virtually any kind of powered tool.
It's not comfortable, fast, or luxurious. But hell, it's gonna get wherever it needs to be. Eventually. Under its own power.
The only terrain a unimog gets stuck in is deep swamp which reaches the portal axles. Everything else is more or less a nuisance.

I always found Unimogs cool little all terrain trucks. This one doesn't need its throttle pedal, that thing crawls over everything slow and easy while idling. It's made to drag agricultural equipment, military use, in construction work and is also used a lot as hi-rail vehicle in Europe too, for maintenance of way and as an industrial switcher to move railcars. It can do this because it was designed to do, hence the great power on the wheels.

This is the benefits of a purpose designed vehicle. Unimogs have portal axles with gears to lift the diff casing well above the centre of the wheel. They also have a chassis which will flex, as well as centre diff locks like most 4wds plus front and rear lockers. This means or four wheels will continue turning as opposed to losing traction if two lose grip as with a centre locker

in case you're wodering, that winch is not used for the unimog to pull itself. It's used to pull the horizon closer to the unimog

Centre Locker and Rear Torsen would make that UTTERLY unstoppable .

the Unimog did not have a center differential. But Front an rear locker.then why do you want middle lock and rear torsen?

    • @johncunningham4820
      @johncunningham4820 Місяць тому

@@mady383. Did you actually WATCH the Video ? They said it THREE TIMES . No Lockers .
Furthermore , with the Power-steering working poorly , if at all , it would be Un-steerable with a Front Locker engaged .
      It's a 10,000 lb Truck . Locked Diffs Self Centre like a Mother - F'er . You do the " Math " .
      I stand by what I said .

@@johncunningham4820only the latest Unimogs have a center differential. With a lock, of course.
But they ALL have locks at the front and rear.
and they can be switched on and off individually at any time.
So why do you think that the Unimog needs a locker for the center differential when it doesn't even have a center differential?
And why do you prefer torsen at the rear? I think diff lock ist better.
So the question is not whether the mog needs locks. But why this one doesn't have one.
Or maybe they just didn't use them?
And why don't these guys even tighten the V-belt so that the steering works again?
by the way. The Unimog does not have a 4-speed gearbox but a 6-speed gearbox.
1+2 the lever has to be pushed all the way to the left against a lock. If you don't know that, you won't find the gears. They are very slow. 4-6 are normal gears.
There is also a reduction gear, so you can drive extremely slowly. So not 8 but 12 gears.
They drive at least 3 low. Why.
And the power steering works. otherwise he could never steer like that. The V-belt only slips when things get hard. easy to repair.
