- Hidden away in a small Belgian town lay the remains of what used to be a prestigious Belgian Automotive Manufacturer that went by the name of Imperia. The brand was known for building quality cars with very innovative designs and in 1929, they built a rooftop test track in order to design and build even better cars. Currently, the factory and test track are abandoned and out of use so we decided to stop by, take a look around, show all of you the factory grounds and test track while telling the story of Imperia. Enjoy!

Looks scary, but it seems like many people especially racing drivers and pilots where crazy back then. I like many things from the 1930s and this should be taken care of as a historic attraction.
Fascinating! I had heard of Imperia, but never knew that part of the factory was still there, let alone the test track. I might have a look down there, it's just about three hours away from me.
It would be worth the trip!
there was one more, Palacio Alcorta in Buenos Aires, but it was converted into apartments in 1990
Very fascinating, also because I'm from Torino.
Very impressive! Never heard of Imperia but I wil visit it because I like making pictures of lost places. One of my favorite Belgium Brands ( or assembled cars ) is the TE 2800.
for the dutch speaking people, there is a nice documentary about Imperia made by canvas. About 30 minutes with a nice presentation. You can find somwhere probably
That is interesting indeed!
Music is brilliant 🙂
There used to be another rooftop test track on the Palacio Chrysler in the Palermo Chico neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
Damn that's cool! Are there any articles or records of that? I did some research to see if there were others before making this video but never found something.
2:23 Watch tower - cum - water tower methinks.
Am I the only one really tempted to take a go kart around it? 😂
Incredible. I had never heard about it. How did you get to know of its existence?
The word goes around in the Belgian Automotive Community basically, we heard about it from a friend and then just started doing some research. Very special to be walking around there!
How were the cars brought up to the track for testing?
It looks like it's built into a hillside and provides level access. 4:11
