    i played a Suhr Classic T at Mesa Boogie Hollywood a few years ago and it was absolutely the best-sounding Tele pickup set I every heard in my life. Whether that alone makes it worth $600 USD more is for your budget to figure out. Both are fine guitars, but the Suhr set the bar very high for me.

    In the cleans I liked the Suhr over the fender as i found it offered a more "fuller" tone/sound. But in the distortion section of your video .. it was prettymuch a wash with there being little to no diffrences compared to the larger one in the cleans.
    Excellent job as always Bryan playing & editing !! :)

      I wonder whether that's the difference between the maple & rosewood boards. The suhr sounds fuller in my ears too, but it has a maple neck so more brighter

    Nice demo of two great guitars. The Suhr sounded quite a bit warmer and thicker to me than the Fender while still sounding like a tele. I thought the Suhr was definitely better sounding on the neck and bridge pickups but I liked how the Fender was a little quackier on the middle position. But if I had to pick one, I’d go with the Suhr.

    Nice video. I've never owned a suhr... but I've owned about five teles...squire affinity and cv... and fender performer, American pro II, and now an ultra. The ultra does sound brighter than my other two American teles... but not nearly as bright as the CV tele. It may be the ultra pick-ups that sound brighter the thinner body or neck compared to most other teles. In person the Ulta sounds quite good. I think my other American teles sound fuller and the ultra more focused. I think my others may sound a bit better clean... especially when using the neck pickup...is way clearer... but I much prefer the ultra in overdrive... the ultra almost sounds like it has humbuckers in comparison... huge difference in overdrive. For the look of take the ultra any day of the week... but for prices I'd take my others... the ultra is in another league in terms of looks, feel, and ergonomics... better than any other tele I've ever played.

    Hi there, I'm just wondering if you had the tone knob on the Fender on full bright. It is at that point, fully bypassed and may explain why it was a bit brighter than the Suhr. Both great guitars...

    To each their own but one thing that you missed is that the slector switch on the fender engages both humbuckers and the signal gets hotter and darker. But if you think this is a fair comparison then fine. I just think you're not doing the fender justice.

    someone said the suhrs have a bit of strat to it and i this vid was helpful. i do think the suhr is a bit creamier sometimes and a bit glassier others. thanks for the comparison. im gonna be a contrarian here and say i like the fender more cuz its more "tele". i already own a strat and dont need something similar
    before i get tag teamed, i just wanna say i have suhr pickups on more than one of my guitar (which is why im researching), and i think fender is a whack and old school company and i think suhr is much cooler company

    Both sounded good, but I would have to say the Suhr sounded more my thing. Hard to describe, but the Suhr had more authority about it ... less plinky, more creamy and a shade darker, but still very clear. Suhr wins here...not that the Fender doesn't sound great.
    I've played both and the Suhr is better made. Best fretwork in the business, probably the tightest neck pocket I've ever seen for a bolt-on. Also, there's a "transparency" with Suhr pickups, regardless of form.
    I've always lusted after a Fender Tele 52-spec black guard/ butterscotch. Also looked at some Nash teles with sweet Lollar pickups.
    Ultimately bought a special run Suhr Classic T with an incredible roasted flame maple neck and SSV humbucker in the neck. No regrets.

    I think the Suhr wins hands down. The Fender found much thiner and brighter, and the Suhr was fatter and fuller. However that all said... Its all going to depend on the situation and how the guitar fits into a mix. Rarely is it just going to be you and your guitar. Nice comparison Brian!

    I call foul on this comparison. There is enormous emphasis on the false harmonic throughout this video which the suhr’s pickup gain shows displays better based on the amp and EQ. In addition, the Suhr sounds like more of a rock/blues guitar here and I would never hear it as being able to do more… which of course is not true. And, I would not limit the pickup options while comparing them because at that point excluding versatility comparisons altogether. As a person that owns Suhr and Fender guitars, this is by no means a proper display. I can only say the Suhr makes this musician sound better at the his personal limited baseline.

    Random question but what are your thoughts about plekking or plekking guitars that are straight out of the factory?

    • @smeerdude
      @smeerdude  4 роки тому

      It really depends, most of the guitars are already plekked right from the Factory (Gibson) and any quality guitar direct from the factory would be setup so that only small adjustments would be needed not really a plekked job. if you bought and older guitar that needed a little help then I would say getting it plekked is worth it.
