What an awesome money saver...not to mention a great way to make custom colors. I would just make sure that if I was making a large quantity of items to mix enough powder for all of them at one time, otherwise it might be hard to match the color exactly when making more. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks for the great tips and tutorial using the mica's and inks to tint embossing powders!! I have been wanting do more embossing, I have only tried it once....I just forget about it...like you said it is tucked in a drawer!!! Don't worry about your little Gabriel's announcement....all the Mother's out here have been there....That age of innocence flies by so quickly....enjoy every minute of it....Hugs Patti
This is a great tutorial. I already have these powders and will definitely try this. Just in case you don't know Dollar Tree has small containers/with lids in their craft area that would be perfect to store the extra. I believe there are eight to a package for a dollar. Great value. Thank you.
Loved the tutorial. You wouldn't believe how helpful it was to me. I have only got white embossing powder because I was worried I wouldn't like it or the faze would pass. I bought a big container of it. Now thanks to your wonderful tutorial I can make it any colour I want. And I just loved how you were really enjoying what you we're doing but every time you little one spoke to you you were 100% there for him. That shows what a great mummy you are. I look forward to more of you fabulous tutorials. ❤ Glenne
This is super cool! I wanted some pink or red embossing powder for a Valentine card I want to make. So as I have had to be off work for two weeks and I can not justify spending any money at the moment I am now super excited to give this a go. I have refills for my Copicc markers and I am sure that should work too as that is alcohol ink. Thanks for sharing. Hugs Lisa G
Super cool! Awesome work! In really impressed by your natural ability to care enough that ya turn around the stamp (etc) to give your viewers the proper perspective! Not even too many professionals do this which is a pet peave of mine. GreatGREATGreat work! Thanks ~X🎨💨X~
Timing is everything, isn't it? I scored - scored I tell ya' - a brand new Versa Mark pad at the thrift store for 49c. Now I needed embossing powder but didn't know what color(s) to invest in, but now I see that I only have to purchase one container of clear powder and I can get any color I want. Thank you very much for this. 😁. From the Southern California desert, MK ♥️🌞🌵
I'm only finding this 4 years later, but love your idea. I have tons of Perfect Pearls and am definitely going to try this as I have wanted more "color" embossing powder. Thanks for posting this
Another vintage reseller that is also an artist/crafter. Cool. I know that Aaron makes great jewelry. I'll have to look through your older videos to see what you do. I actually have a separate channel for my art: Cyndi Duncan Arts. I find the vintage takes most of my creative time, though.
Very interesting ! Not sure where I will get mica powders here in Portugal, but will definitely have a good search for some in the shops and online ! I do have to say that as a Brit I am so SO jealous of you all with the Dollar Tree etc ... you seem to be able to buy so many cheap yet wonderfully useful items like sprays, bottles, jars, tubs etc etc. I really wish we had shops like that here in Portugal!
thank you for your very interesting video. i will try it right away. next time try to use a bery small spoon to mix it . i am sure this tip will help to make your powder smoother
Lol little ones say the funniest things when you least expect them to!! Anyway great video...the eggplant color was beautiful!!! Wonder if you could use Tim Holtz watercolor burst? Something to try!!
The condiment containers with the cover can be found in the paper plate aisle at Walmart. You get a bunch for around two bucks. Thanks for sharing this tip
This is so cool! I'm so glad you shared because now I can experiment with my pearl ex and alcohol inks to get a certain look I wanted for this special project I'm making. Thanks so much! Looking forward to more of your videos--LOVE them! Take care :)
Lindsay The Frugal crafter says you can use vegetable glycerine instead of the versamark if you want to save more money. Check her out, she can save you tons of money! There is also a recipe to make your own embossing powder from an observation guy on here.
Hey Alex its so nice of you to pass on the info, thank you! I will for sure give it a try, it is so neat on the different ways you can use all the different items to come up with something creative as this! :) TFS Lisa*
Just a thought. . .concerning the clumping of the alcohol ink. . .when it dries out and clumps are still left. . . perhaps try wetting the mixture with with a dash of clear rubbing alcohol. . .(???)
Damn. Thank you for this video. I think i will buy some more clear to mix with the pearl ex pigments since i will be having both the pigments and embossing powder
I just tried it with some sparkle embossing powder that I bought a while ago, and didn't really like cuz I was looking for clear and there wasn't any. and this sparkle powder didn't show up very well and I wasn't crazy about it. But I mixed it with some eye shadow I scraped up and it looks awesome! Plus I put quite a bit of eye shadow in it so it kinda doubled my amount of embossing powder. kool! thanx so much for your video! xoxoxo
Also if you stamp with pigment ink not dye ink, the pigment stays wet enough for clear embossing powder to stick to it then heat with heat gun. Such a variety of no mess colors with pigment inks. Perfect Pearls tends to leave behind glitter on the cardstock.
awesome! !! I had one problem though. It seems that the pearl ex got to the wet ink before the embossing powder. Also it left a purple stain on the white cardstock? what did you use to remove it? TFS
Thankyou so much for sharing i am brand new to any kind of embossing and i luv mixing things i have ordered my first powder off ebay it is the wow melt it powder could i mix that and use it as base to emboss like you have done or is it just for 3d items
Yes go the Mica, using cheap cosmetic mica from China, honestly works just as well if not better than lindys stamp gang embossing powder... 10 g $ 1.90 AUD free shipping
I wonder if you used mica powder with a splash or so of isopropyl alcohol with the clear embossing powder, if the results would be as intense as the alcohol ink colors??
Maybe people don't have a ton of different colored ink pads.. Or maybe looking for creative ways to use the supplies they spend money on and just sit in a drawer.
That's true. I'm just wondering if there is a difference in the look? I'm certainly not criticizing cuz I think this is really a great idea. I guess I'll have to experiment and see what the look is. I've never had coloured embossing powders or used them other than the usual gold, black, etc. I also didn't want to have so many colours that I would hardly use. This gives me a lot more ideas for options!
It was a privately owned store..... a “mom and pop” if you will. she has since closed. I just think she bought it in bulk and sold it per ounce, so I never knew the manufacturer was.
Interesting techniques -- I would be interested in knowing the person she watched for this technique , -- but it would be something fun to try -- thanks for sharing

tfs, nice way to save money

amazing video
What is the powder you are using to blend.
Great idea :-)
We don't have embossing powder in our country, can I use fine glitter insted?
do you think coloring white instead of clear would give a more opaque embossing powder?
kim ryan it just might!! 😉
Thank you! 👍🏻
What is the type of clear emboss powder you have. All I ever find are expensive tiny jars
You can get the little containers at Big Lots, 10 for 1.00
I wonder if you used mica powder with a splash or so of isopropyl alcohol with the clear embossing powder, if the results would be as intense as the alcohol ink colors??
You could give it a try! :-)
where did you find that powder, how much costs?
Thanks for the tips. But how do these compare to colored ink with stamp then emboss just in clear??
Maybe people don't have a ton of different colored ink pads.. Or maybe looking for creative ways to use the supplies they spend money on and just sit in a drawer.

I was like " GASP" when he just popped in and decided to share that bit of information with me.. 3 yr olds.. what are ya gonna do?? lol
Can you do this with any brand embossing powder
Yep💗
Don't go buy containers, I have some. You said you can use eye shadow I also have some mineral make up stuff in many different colors if you want it.
Great tutorial. Ruth down under
they have little containers at dollar tree like 10 for a dollar
What happens if you mix embossing powder with acrylic paint?
Good question 🤔
try TKB trading for mica powders and metallic powders for mineral make up and nail polish
Thank you
I'm lucky...i can buy embossing power where I live for $1 an ounce!!
I know it’s YEARS later, but what brand of embossing powder do you get for that price?
It was a privately owned store..... a “mom and pop” if you will. she has since closed. I just think she bought it in bulk and sold it per ounce, so I never knew the manufacturer was.
cookbook800 thanks!
Wonderful information tyfs

Leonie
Clever thinking. Could zoom out and could see better.
good UA-cam
You can use those ketchup containers at McDonalds, free.
Interesting techniques -- I would be interested in knowing the person she watched for this technique , -- but it would be something fun to try -- thanks for sharing
