since they recently release new (or a refresh model) wireless headphone WH-1000XM5, they might be releasing new tws named WF-1000XM5 anytime soon. Yeah, they're really bad at naming their product.
I'm convinced there's some issue with copyright or something when naming these things, I can't believe the same company that has PlayStation and Walkman has so bad names
Technically the tagline of Linkbuds are "Buds that you basically never need to take off and can wear for hours". With the original Linkbuds, its for having that completely-open design so you can literally hear people talking without taking it off. With Linkbuds S, its by having the lightest thing around..... I really don't blame anyone for confusing it though with Linkbuds name and trademark kinda linked to the former one.
Yea, I think Sony has mastered ANC. Sometimes I ask myself: Do I have ANC on? Because you really don't feel any noise or pressure when it is on. It's crazy what has happened in "such a short time" in the area.
@@oevolutiono6536 even on their older headphones like my WCH700N's the ANC is great. Maybe one day if they finally break I'll finally get a newer pair and see how far it's come
The Linkbuds are for those who work at Warehouses such as a Tesla Gigafactory (I used to work there) its good because you had to be 100% aware of your surrounds but those shifts can drag on so music helps a great deal. So basically if your pockets are deep enough, you can have each buds for different uses/environments.
I tried them for a day in at the loading dock where I work and can agree you can hear the forklifts coming for you but otherwise unless you are in a fairly quiet office environment they just don't get every loud and the battery life is utterly useless for a shift. I switched over the the WF-1000MX4's and while not perfect they improve on most of the Linkbuds issues but at the cost of hearing some of the stalking forklifts. Here's hoping I don't wind up like the guys Klaus took out.
I've been using true wireless earbuds for years now, and I'd love to see fit testing include push-ups. I wear them when working out and push ups and even other exercises where there is a lot of tension in the muscles of my jaw push out the earbuds. Plus it would be entertaining to see the LTT team doing push-ups during reviews. Win, win.
@fungalgrowth well, I still think they should because earbuds just tend to fall out of my ears whenever I do push-ups and what not. It's because it is at a weird angle and it doesn't help if I'm sweating aswell. Although, I don't know how they would test that lol.
The reason I love the Linkbuds is how they "hold" onto your ear, super comfortable and won't fall out. Wish Sony had made the same but without the hole, so you get advantages of a in ear earphone without having to jam something way into your ear.
@@Elemental-IT unfortunately, that's very difficult in practice. An open back and a closed back design have internal differences, like damping material, surrounding materials and thus the tuning of the earphone itself. As such, the sound quality would change and probably not sound very good in one of the modes
One use case rarely addressed in earbuds reviews is microphone quality for audio calls. True wireless earbuds are a relief for people with glasses, and I see more and more coworkers using them for Zoom/Teams… calls. Definitely top criteria for my next purchase.
From my experience I work in a machine shop and I can typically take phone calls while in the shop no problem but if I'm using compressed air I have to leave the shop area to continue the conversation. But overall better than my Bose quiet comfort and both pixel buds
@@bland9876 Probably talking about full over head headphones with mics for Zoom meetings. If you have it on for hours it can hurt from it pushing the glasses into the side of your head. Or in the case of the Logitech headphones, minutes. Lol
Very much this. I use the Jabra elite 75t, while they're not fantastic, the sound is much, much better than my laptop's integrated microphone. Heck, it even beats the really crappy headphone-mic my employer provides for us, and fits far more comfortably.
@@HoloScope the XM4’s still stick out a bit and are a little heavy in my own ears, but the sound quality is obviously fantastic. I’ve actually been using the Sony WF-C500’s for work in my shop (my sister got them on sale for me around the holidays). But I’ve been using them with the foam ear tips for the XM4’s which has helped block some noise and keeps the fit tight in my ears. I kind of want to try these from the video, but I would also do the same (use the foam ear tips) cause for me they hold up better then the silicone ones on most earbuds.
These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.
I've been looking at these for a while, and just picked some up for $115 on Amazon. They were the last black pair. I started in a new work environment where the sounds bounce and echo really bad, making it challenging to hear clients sometimes. I was also considering the open back LinkBuds just because I still needed to hear client's and co-workers at times, but felt they weren't quite what I was looking for. Then I remembered these with the Transparency mode, and hope it will help pick up their voices better, and cut out the echo and bouncing sounds. It will definably be a true test for these things. Also, being someone who likes their peace and quiet, the ANC is really attractive for the times I just want to mute the world. lol
@@kcchiefsproductions8687 So, I have been enjoying them. It has taken me some time to really figure them out, but they do work well, but not as well as I had hoped for the environment I work in. The ambient pass through is really nice, but wish the voice isolation part was better while cutting out background noise. Today I found setting ambient pass through to 4 with "focus on voice" on to work well. I do like how I am able to keep a conversation going with someone while having calm/relaxing type music going at a low level, then when the conversation is done just turn "ambient sound" off. I don't use the active noise canceling much, but it did work well in the test I performed. Battery life is acceptable, and with being able to charge an hour of listening time in 5 minutes is nice. The way I use them, the last me all day long, and more. The range is good, and I haven't had many drop outs or disconnects. All in all, I would recommend.
Special request when reviewing earbuds: Could you check if it is usable with a tuque (beanie whatever) that covers the ears? Is it comfortable? Does the touch control activate randomly? Etc. It's an information that is really hard to come by and to me it's a make or break "features" as a fellow Canadian.
As a side sleeper who can’t sleep with AirPods Pro in, this has my attention. Thought I’d try those headbands with tiny speakers in them but they just don’t sound great and are either too loose or too tight.
I find the flat back doesn't bother me if I have the right tips. The base tips were ever so slightly too small for my big ear holes, and it made them touch my ear more. The XL size tip is way more comfortable. I haven't had to mash my buds to get them to activate at all. I got them on a lightning deal for 128 plus tax, used a bday gift card, and paid a total of $36 after tax. Absolutely great buy.
Sony makes cool stuff, as someone who uses their phone i can attest, sony also has no idea how to name their stuff, this phone is xperia 5 3. Not to be confused with Xperia models 1, 5, 10, 1 2, 5 2, or 1 4. Edit: i recently bought a used sony A7 II. Obviously better than an A7, though nowhere near as expensive as the A7 III, A7 IV, or any of the A9 variants. I considered the A7R (I,II,III,IV) or A7S (I,II,III,IV) but I decided to go for an all-around camera.
how about you think like this. Xperia 1 first, Xperia 1 second, Xperia 1 third and so on, if you cant make yourself say Mk1 or Mk2. Its how their branding works on a complete product scale. Remember, Xperia now goes under imaging. And their Imaging division name product with Mk prefix.
I would love to see this compared to their flagship true wireless earbuds (WF-1000XM4 was current, XM5 should come out soon given over ear headset already come out)
Same, they look very similar! I wonder if you can use the same silicone tips on the xm4s as I struggle a little with comfort on the foam…all that aside…CUSTOM TOUCH CONTROLS SONY! No matter which default I pick I’m missing out on something!
@@robbbbo666 I’m using the silicone tips that came with XM3s on my XM4 and they work perfectly well! Well maybe except for that large sized tips. They kinda doesn’t fit into the charging case
I have both the XM4 and the Linkbuds S. I prefer the Linkbuds S all day. The fit and comfort are way better. The microphone is much improved. I'd never recommend the XM4 over these.
@@richparkinson9647 what about wireless charge, sound and ANC quality are these on par? Currently both have nearly the same price and im confused which one to choose.
@@Tyler_ThaTruth this is true, though I was referring to updates to the hardware, of which the only one I'm aware of is the recent addition of Magsafe to the pro's case.
I just might have to spring for these, when you guys reviewed the LG TONE FP7s I went out and bought them, I have loved them ever since. ANC is a big part of my life blocking out crowd and hvac noise, and they deliver with a pretty well with good comfort. A natural pass through is also very useful to keep my music on while being able to hear a conversation. Maybe I'm just an LTT simp, but yall have really changed my life with your product reviews. I genuinely thank everyone that makes these videos happen. :)
I suppose the "linkbuds" name might go towards more expirimental wireless earbuds rather than a cosistent design. Probably wrong but it'd at least make more sense, I think
As someone who has small ear canals & hasn't found in-ear wireless earbuds that actually stay in my ears longer than a few seconds, these ACTUALLY FIT MY EARS! 🥳
you can try 1more comfobuds mini ,, i got the same issue, but the downside of them you have only double tap and triple tap, no single other than that it's perfect for small ears also has noise cancelations
I just picked up the LinkBuds S.... These are so much better than Gear Buds I had long ago and sound better than the behind-the-neck Plantronics earbuds I have. These are definitely a win for the office and gym. They DO NOT have wireless charging. 4:12
I bought the regular LinkBuds a couple months ago. Their unique design actually hurt my ears when I would put them in, sometimes they wouldn't stay in, even though I like that they could play louder than my old Raycon earbuds which broke when I dropped the case, and then the right earbud blew out (became distorted and unusable) Thankfully, I paid for the 2 year product protection and was able to return them. But the store didn't have the same product in stock, so they upgraded me to the LinkBuds S at no extra charge! They are SO much better. They are comfortable, have good volume, and the noise cancellation is amazing. My only complaint is they don't always respond to taps/presses, especially if you're wearing gloves (which I have to do at work) I would prefer a physical button instead of something touch-sensitive. Not being able to quickly mute/pause your media can be annoying.
Would you still recommend the upgrade? I’ve sony linkbuds and i think they’re very good but its a bit painful for my right ear. Touch controls are very good though since you can pause a song by touching near your ears and from what you say it isnt possible with linkbuds s
You can get adapters for this; I bought one in the way-before-time for use in airplanes. Essentially plugs into the headphone jack (with a fold-out jack for those double-pronged affairs on older aircraft) and pair with your headphones / earbuds. Great for watching movies wirelessly on a long flight. Though yes, it is extremely niche, and since I have not flown much, they have gotten almost no use in the past year or two.
I got this a replacement for my work mono headset. Let me tell you, these are amazing. I set them up on the Sony headphones app on my phone and then connected them via Bluetooth to my Windows 10 work laptop. By the time I plug them into my ears, they have already connected to the laptop & I can instantly start talking at the start of meetings. Everyone I’ve spoken to has said the mics are great. ANC & noise amp. modes both work by touching the left earbud. My only gripe is I wish the right earbud could be configured to mute in any application such as Zoom, MS Teams, or RingCentral - that would make these probably the best earbuds for work. Outside of work, they’re great of course. Very comfy, very lightweight.
I'm wondering how these compare to my WF-1000XM4's. There's $100 difference between them, but I'd really like a smaller, lighter earbud. However it's tough to justify when I've barely owned my XM4's for 6 months.
The more time passes the more I regret buying the mx3's, not because they're bad, but because I barely use them as I only would use them on the road and they're 1. Less convenient compared to my wired buds which sound just as good and 2. Expensive, meaning i'm paranoid while having them with me if I can't put them in my backpack in their case, while again the buds cost 20$
Can we take a moment to appreciate how good Linus looks nowadays? He really found his style, the beard looks awesome and he really has a confidence to him that's boosting him even more!
I think they grabbed the wrong numbers when looking up the battery specs. The 20 hours mentioned are the earbuds with the case. The earbuds last up 6 hours with ANC and up to 9 hours without ANC. The case is advertised to last 14 hours.
They make a lot of sense if you really think about the highlights. Good sound, good ANC, good Ambient. One of the smallest and lightest on the market, amazing comfort and at the same time still have great battery life (6 hours with ANC, 8+ without). The problem, as it turns out, is Sony's quality control. They seem to be prone to failures. One of the common ones seems to be the left or right bud developing a "blowing" noise while ANC or AMB is turned on. It sounds like you were making a phone call and the other side was blowing into the microphone. Another issue they often have is that the bass gets randomly boosted on either one of the buds. Had this exact same issue on two different pairs, ended up returning them. Seen a number of people complain about the exact same thing, had people comment back to me about having the same problems as me.
Yea my left ear bud developed the wind noise after 2 days, it disappeared after a full charge but it’s definitely not put me at ease with the reliability of these buds
Small (large?) correction, the Linkbuds S case DOES NOT support wireless charging. Which is like the one significant drawback of these things. Almost a dealbreaker tbh
5:20 small comment. headphones or earbud are not stereo. they are binaural which makes it a big difference on how space, depth and placement are produced and perceived.
On iPhone/iOS you can set a volume limiter to protect your hearing. Just go to settings>Sounds & Haptics>Headphone safety and then toggle on “Reduce Loud Sounds”. Then you can slide the slider to set the limiter. A good safe volume is 85db. Samsung has one but they frickin put a warning on your screen every time you turn the volume to “max” I.e the maximum limited volume. On iOS it doesn’t bother you it just acts like normal but the max on the volume slider is just 85db or whatever you set it to. Great feature and one of the things I really missed when trying to switch to android.
I still use cable, no problems with losing them. No problems with connectivity, sounds great and no "disturbing in the force". And people can hear you much better with the microphone.
I have the link buds and the wf1000-xm4s and the noise canceling on them is incredible but they hurt often but the link buds feel amazing if they could combine both, with like a diaphragm to let actual sound in or have noise cancelling there would no reason to buy anything else unless you an audiophile
Being totaly honest, i found the link buds S to be the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn, even more comfortable then the Apple Air Pods Pro's. That said, if you like to sleep with earbuds in, then the apples air pods pro's are more comfortable, but just during normal wearing, then the Sonys are better. Only thing I've had is a bit of connection issues and a few bugs with the software, but still definitely worth it :)!
I'm confused. You said the link buds s are the most comfortable buds you've used, but then you say the airpods are more comfortable for sleeping. Do the sony's gradually become uncomfortable?
@@wheresmahat345 Air pods pro are more comfy when you are laying your head on a pillow and pressing them into your ears hard by laying on them, But if your just walking around with them in and not laying on them, then the Link buds are more comfortable. Even over long perods of time, link buds are more comfortable, at least for me.
Anyone seeing this comment: please don't buy Sony Linkbuds S. I was thinking that they are the great earbuds, based on review, but I have to say it is a piece of crap. Eveyone is saying that micrphone/call quality is top-notch, but it is actually the worst part of the earbuds. Immediately after starting the call, they automatically turn on Sidetone (like an ambient mode) and you can barely hear the other side due to wind/white noise + ambient sound around it. Interestigly enough, there is no SINGLE WORD about that from the reviewer. That makes them unsable in any environment except its own quiet room. It is imppossible to use them in train / open office / coffee shops / running...so please stay away from them and buy way better earbuds in the same price range: Nothing Ear 2 or Anker Libert 4 (4 NC) or similar price range Jabra models...
I picked up a pair of Linkbuds largely due to Linus' review, and I think they're great. I listen to my music loud enough that the ambient sound still doesn't reach me, which partly defeats the point, but I've always preferred the sound quality of open-backed headphones. And I don't know if it's the fact that they're open, or if it's just good engineering on Sony's part, but they're really comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Sometimes I don't even bother taking them out when the music is off, because it's easy to forget they're there.
It is a bit odd that they use the same name for a different type of headphones, especially as the original Linkbuds were named as such because they were something different from the mainstream. But I've never really understood why people have a problem with it. If you know what you're buying, who cares what they call it? Another great product, and that's all I care about.
What I love about the linkbuds is the way they sit in your ear, which is always a massive problem for me as things that go inside my ears don't stay there for long without causing great discomfort. Was really hoping these were gonna be basically linkbuds but with the hole closed up and maybe a much weaker ANC for obvious reasons. Sony just needs to learn to name things differently, as linkbuds literally makes no sense for this product, unless they're justifying it with the really good pass through mode?
they look identical to my XM4s, and i hate how huge they are. i hate the touch pads. they should just put the buttons on the ffffffng side, but i love the ANC and Ambient Audio. are they any smaller?
The linkbuds name is due to them linking with all your different daily activities, the slogan is “never off” meaning they have the best of all situation. You now have closed ANC or linkbuds S as some people need ANC which the regulars cannot do but have their own advantages.
i just tryed out wf xm4s and liked them for the most part except for how big they were and decided to return them. I got small ears so I definitely want to give these shot
I have WF-XM3s and although they still work fine, they are a bit of a _unit_ (both the earphones themselves, and the case). The small form factor of these does appeal to me.
The fact that Linus couldn’t still find a replacement for AirPods Pro almost 3 years after their release says something about the quality of the product
Or at least his specific needs, as he mentions the shape of the case being so paramount. As he has said, he basically lives with those things in his ears, and sleep with them in, even having backups on the night desk in case he wakes up in the middle of the night and the batteries are dead.
IMO, it's less of a quality debate and more of a manpower kind of thing. Apple, the trillion dollar company, obviously has MUCH more resources, manpower and TIME to perfect the engineering and understand what their average apple user wants. And honestly you should think about how the first apple Airpods didn't have wireless charging... when EVERYTHING had it. To me that shows how long ago the overall design was fully finalized and approved from when they released it. Next year or two, wireless charging. And they charge you more for it, almost as if you have to pay their engineers' salary directly out-of-pocket. Also, the only reason Linus can't find a replacement is the case size. That's it. Sony recently has been trying to perfect a certain niche of the market that Bose has, honestly speaking, been dominating so hard that they just became cocky and more Apple-like. The ANC market at this moment is going through a revolution thanks to companies like Sony, who already know how to make good audio, but are also implementing it where it matters; without forgetting to stay competitive.
@@rdvgrd6 have... you tried them on? this is a very, VERY subjective matter but honestly I do NOT enjoy bare plastic in or around my ear canal. They get nasty real fast, fester germs and trust me, you do not want to experience the pain of an ear canal infection. There have been earbuds that came out before the Airpods that were multiple times better. Sure might not be the same size but they also came out 4 ish years earlier (Bose had ones, bulky AF but had ANC 5 or 6 years earlier). And ease of use? No. Please tell me how you are basing your statements. I can list a dozen earbuds (including both the Airpods and ANC version) personally. But honestly I don't know what you are basing your statements on.
Bought linkbud s but the left side earbud is having touch problem that is the left side touch is not working after connecting later i returned the product and bought a new pair of linkbud s but its also facing the same issue
@@ES-qy2ju Yes, if you dont know anything about the linkbuds and only hear the name, its easier to assume the linkbuds s are slightly upgraded versions of the linkbuds. Instead they’re two completely different things for different targets. When someone doesn’t know what something is or does just by hearing the name, that’s a failure in branding. If I only looked at the linkbuds and saw they were open in-ear buds I’d assume the linkbuds s are the same open in-ear buds with slightly better audio, not a completely different device.
Man these things are great. Unlike the Sony 1000xm4 the microphone is amazing. These things re a 10/10. The only thing I miss from my Jabras is the multipoint connection. Also for the touch to listen (or any control) you don't have to push. You just have to lightly touch.
My biggest problem with wireless earbuds is the fact that my ears sweat or something, causing my earbuds after like an hour or 2 to slowly fall out. Does anyone have any comments on how these do over long periods of time in your ears?
have you tried foam tips for earbuds? I have the same problem when I'm hiking/workout out, but foam tips hold on better in my ears. They are consumables though since they deteriorate over time, but they are pretty inexpensive. How often you gotta change them depends on how much wax and use you do, so can't really give you a solid number.
This happens to me also and it is so aggravating. I have given up on earbuds for the most part and now use only over ear headphones. They are great except when you want to lie down and watch something. I have some WFC500 earbuds for those few times I need earbuds. You can find them super cheap on Ebay and they are almost identical to these Linkbuds S except they have physical buttons on them and no ANC.
Yes, besides sweating I also have a ear wax problem, my ears produce a crazy amount of it daily, so every single earbud I have starts falling out or getting a little loose after 30 mins or less, foam tips makes things worse for me as they get slippery with the ear wax, so I really have no choice, I have to remove the buds and clean my ear canals and put them back in constantly. It’s a shame cause I really like earbuds
I had this exact problem (I sweat through every crevices in my body) and the newer batches of spinfits solved it, it really grips into your ear canal without being uncomfortable
I bought the link buds. A lot of people complain about the lack of bass. You can't really do open back earbuds because the driver isn't big enough to push air like a subwoofer would do. Subwoofers are generally huge. So the lack of bass really pissed people off. The linkbuds S sounds like the product many would buy because they want that bass back in their music (aka heavy bass). I disagree with loudness damaging ears. I have the FiiO K9 Pro ESS driving my Sony MDR-Z7M2 (using the 4.4 balanced pentaconn connection) and this little badass dac/amp is capable of 2100mw at 32ohms. Which correlates to basically 2 WATTS of power (not sure how that correlates to 50ohms aka the z7m2 but still). That's pretty fucking loud considering cell phones are way down low in the 100's of mw range.... if not lower. I never really seen an actual milliwatt rating for cellphone output but im sure its really low. even going off my sony xperia 1 mark 2 the difference is night/day in terms of how loud it is. noise cancellation doesn't mean you end up listening to things quieter than usual, it just means you aren't bothered by outside noises. everyone I see writing reviews for wireless earbuds usually say they aren't loud enough. and i would generally agree. i dont really use my linkbuds for the loudness, just portability. if the linkbuds were 3x louder i would be happy.
I still love that I instabought FP8's after watching LTT video on them drunk. But sadly I had to get my pair replaced after 2 months (under warranty) because of hardware failure
I know Linus sleeps with earbuds as I often do now as well... I'd like to see an endurance test on all wireless units to see if they lived up to their battery claims. I'm tired of companies claiming 6-7 hours and the darn things lasting 2 hours after a few discharge cycles.
Funnily enough the best battery life I've seen were on a pair of $60 Soundpeats off Amazon that I got once when I just wanted a 'pretty decent' pair of true wireless earbuds. This was, what, three and a half years ago and they're actually alright for sound and the battery life is still more than seven hours (with the case I can usually go for 2-4 weeks between charges depending on my use, though I've been using my iPod EarPods a lot more again now with my Samsung)
Linus, I have the Airpods Pro, but I had problems with them staying in my ear (bought third party silicon 'wings'), and they failed regularly (apple just kept replacing them for free). In the end I got Beats Fit Pro. Sound almost as good as Airpods Pro, still have noise cancelling mode, stay in my ears.
Can the writers please remember/remind Linus that he literally reviewed the sony wf 1000xm4?! If I wanted anything from this review it is to show what the difference between them is, because they look and do the exact same thing on paper. Also funny how Linus, again, sais he hasn't found anything to replace his airpods with, when the wf 1000xm4 video is literally called "I'm ditching my airpods pros".
Linus is the writer haha. And this is not supposed to be a review, just an unboxing/first look. And yeah, the title of the xm4 video is clickbaity, but on another video he said he felt the xm4 too big and uncomfortable to use while sleeping, which is his main use.
I'll stick with my buds pro sleep with em forget they are there no stem small carrying case I mean for some reason the newer ones buds 2 extra the case is alot bigger but the pill looking case is small I love em
Man I really wish these had more battery life in the buds and case. Imagine 10 to 12 hours per use on the buds. And like 50 - 54 hours total with the case🤤
@@rustler08 it's not as terrible as earbuds with only 4 - 4.5 hours yeah. I just really like earbuds with lots of battery life per use. I don't have any of Sony's earbuds and would love to have some but wish they had lots of battery life. I have their headphones. Now I just need some earbuds that are just what I'm looking for.
"i don't wanna remember a stupid dance for every device in my life"... Product-Devs, are you writing this down ? Also make them stay relevant for longer #RightToRepair
Anyone know if the batteries are easily replaceable? Honestly struggling to pull the the ~$200 dollar trigger on something that effectively becomes trash in 3-4 years when the Batts die😞
7:23 ac for ear protection was the whole point for me. I Work in a shop running embroidery machines and it gets very loud. ANC is so a god send, Instead of blocking out the noice with more noise. Idk how many people have Gone shooting with these but they are a game changer there too.
They are one of the most underrated earbuds on the market. I've had so many earbuds, but when I think of the best in overall sound and value, these are the ones I always think about.
curious how comfortable they would be to sleep in, they seem to recess fairly far so it seems like they wouldn't be too bad but who knows depending on the pressure of laying on it.
My gf just got me a pair of these for our anniversary. I actually really like them. The speakers seem better than my air pod pros. Also every time I drop my air pods the case opens and they go flying. I don’t have that issue with the link bud s’s
Do headphones like AirPod pros that use active noise cancellation cause tinnitus? I read on Amazon they do but other places they do not. The Amazon was just a review
That software feature of detecting what you're doing and adapting the noise cancelling isn't new at all, it was always in the wh 1000xm series (at least from mark 3) and the WF1000xm series also has it but I don't know when it started
charging port is in the wrong spot. I still haven't found a replacement for my anker soundcore liberty 2. sound is just so much better than anything else I've tried and they are so comfy!
Linus, i would strongly advise for you to test the Huawei Freebuds Pro. I kown Huawei is not as big in North America, but i promise you, there is no better alternative for the Airpods pro, i would argue they are even better in some ways, ie: connectivity, colors, noise cancelling, to name a few.
At this point I’m pretty convinced the marketing department at Sony is just messing with everyone when it comes to their product naming.
Either that or that have taken a look at what apple do and thought "Challenge accepted good sir".
since they recently release new (or a refresh model) wireless headphone WH-1000XM5, they might be releasing new tws named WF-1000XM5 anytime soon. Yeah, they're really bad at naming their product.

Yea, I think Sony has mastered ANC. Sometimes I ask myself: Do I have ANC on? Because you really don't feel any noise or pressure when it is on.
It's crazy what has happened in "such a short time" in the area.
Btw great Vid.. As always.

@@aslan4312 Sony WH-1000XM3
@@oevolutiono6536 even on their older headphones like my WCH700N's the ANC is great. Maybe one day if they finally break I'll finally get a newer pair and see how far it's come
Interesting that you don't notice any. The pressure effect is quite noticeable to me on my WH-1000XM4
Well not anymore I guess
I tried them for a day in at the loading dock where I work and can agree you can hear the forklifts coming for you but otherwise unless you are in a fairly quiet office environment they just don't get every loud and the battery life is utterly useless for a shift. I switched over the the WF-1000MX4's and while not perfect they improve on most of the Linkbuds issues but at the cost of hearing some of the stalking forklifts. Here's hoping I don't wind up like the guys Klaus took out.
Way to "subtly" say you worked at a gigafactory
Lame I'm allowee both earphones in at work no pass through
This is why I use the Galaxy Buds Live, I like to be aware of my surroundings and they don't block everything out
I've been using true wireless earbuds for years now, and I'd love to see fit testing include push-ups. I wear them when working out and push ups and even other exercises where there is a lot of tension in the muscles of my jaw push out the earbuds. Plus it would be entertaining to see the LTT team doing push-ups during reviews. Win, win.
most in-ear testing probably includes chewing tests by now since we've seen complaints about that for years
@fungalgrowth well, I still think they should because earbuds just tend to fall out of my ears whenever I do push-ups and what not. It's because it is at a weird angle and it doesn't help if I'm sweating aswell. Although, I don't know how they would test that lol.
About Sony's line of products, IGN would say:
"It has a little something for everyone"
Guess you are a fan of videogamedunkey I supposeLol
The reason I love the Linkbuds is how they "hold" onto your ear, super comfortable and won't fall out. Wish Sony had made the same but without the hole, so you get advantages of a in ear earphone without having to jam something way into your ear.
@@Elemental-IT Perhaps one could be 3d printed
Would you suggest them for running too?
I tried them and you def gotta have the ears for it.
My ears were too small for even the smallest of the little rubber retainers.
How are they for sleeping
As a person who wears glasses I don't know what you're talking about. I've never had any problems with the cable before involving my glasses.
@@bland9876 Probably talking about full over head headphones with mics for Zoom meetings. If you have it on for hours it can hurt from it pushing the glasses into the side of your head. Or in the case of the Logitech headphones, minutes. Lol
@@JamesBTurner93 oh ya some headphones do that. The ones I own don't but I have used some that do squeeze your ears and glasses.
Very much this. I use the Jabra elite 75t, while they're not fantastic, the sound is much, much better than my laptop's integrated microphone. Heck, it even beats the really crappy headphone-mic my employer provides for us, and fits far more comfortably.
Not a word about sound quality. In a sound product review. Wow.
As someone who owns both LinkBuds and WF-1000XM4s, these just.. look like mini-1000XM4s.
I thought this was just the next WF earbuds and Sony is just trying to fix their naming schemes
Really disappointed they didn't compare the two. That's all I wanted from this review, cause we already know everything else he could say about them.
Which ones do you like better? I have the xm3's but I didn't like how massive they were, they look so big on my ears and they stick out about 2mm
@@tj3827 Gotta keep in mind, these aren't really reviews, they're just quick glances. =)
The Linkbuds S look just like the XM4, but lighter and slightly smaller.
@Carl Gunderson wtf that's good as, the size of the buds were my only gripe for the xm4s
are they actually smaller? they look identical
@Carl Gunderson Half??!! really? thats impressive, i might buy them just for that, despite the fact i already have the XM4s
Also, being someone who likes their peace and quiet, the ANC is really attractive for the times I just want to mute the world. lol
Hey Timothy, can I get an update on how they have been working out for you?
Special request when reviewing earbuds:
Could you check if it is usable with a tuque (beanie whatever) that covers the ears?

I genuinely thank everyone that makes these videos happen. :)
Do you still like the LG Tone Fp7s? Or do you just need a second pair of buds for some reason?

If these had Qi charging, they would be perfect
@@Mep001 Yes, the LinkBuds S are way better, and they don't hurt
Speaking of special features I'd love for the case to be able to be used as a wired headset for devices without blue tooth.
That's such a good idea, albeit for a very niche usecase
LG tone free fp9, same as the fp8, but they trade wireless charging for that exact feature.
Always a minute after I decide to order, I read a comment with a good case against buying.

Most of the reviews I've read today say the LinkBuds S don't have wireless charging, so maybe that was an oversight in the video?

I don't think that link buds s support wireless charging does it?
Nope
I really hope that Apple improves the ANC on the AirPods Pro 2. It feels like it’s super behind compared to the competition.
Not even
As someone who used both the XM4 and the Linkbuds S, Airpods Pro ANC is still superior to both, tho XM4 is very close
I thing it’s still one of the best

Dude. They're ribbed for your pleasure. The joke is right there.

Yes, if you dont know anything about the linkbuds and only hear the name, its easier to assume the linkbuds s are slightly upgraded versions of the linkbuds.
I returned the xm4s for these. Way smaller and comfortable
Man these things are great. Unlike the Sony 1000xm4 the microphone is amazing. These things re a 10/10. The only thing I miss from my Jabras is the multipoint connection. Also for the touch to listen (or any control) you don't have to push. You just have to lightly touch.
4:00 all other review note down that the case do not support wireless charging so I think that was a mistake?
Yeah idk about that
My biggest problem with wireless earbuds is the fact that my ears sweat or something, causing my earbuds after like an hour or 2 to slowly fall out. Does anyone have any comments on how these do over long periods of time in your ears?
You should replace the silicone tips with comply foam (or similar memory foam tips.) It'll make it much easier
have you tried foam tips for earbuds?
Imagine if you actually talked about the sound.
Yeah, personally I have not seen a single product last up to their claimed battery life
Funnily enough the best battery life I've seen were on a pair of $60 Soundpeats off Amazon that I got once when I just wanted a 'pretty decent' pair of true wireless earbuds. This was, what, three and a half years ago and they're actually alright for sound and the battery life is still more than seven hours (with the case I can usually go for 2-4 weeks between charges depending on my use, though I've been using my iPod EarPods a lot more again now with my Samsung)
@@Gavin-dj3kn Anker soundcore liberty 3 has pretty dam good battery life. I use it for 7-9 hours for work
Linus, I have the Airpods Pro, but I had problems with them staying in my ear (bought third party silicon 'wings'), and they failed regularly (apple just kept replacing them for free).
Short circuit does not do reviews especially if its sponsored. Its just an unboxing
@@lucasgomes6096 funny thing about that is saw an LG ad for them on FB using a pic of linus laying down with them
I'll stick with my buds pro sleep with em forget they are there no stem small carrying case I mean for some reason the newer ones buds 2 extra the case is alot bigger but the pill looking case is small I love em
When are the xm5 earbuds coming out
Yes, I’m sure Linus is up to date on all of Sony’s secrets.
Tomorrow
This are the xm5's, just renamed
kinda reminds me of the WF-1000XM4 . I loved those things I bought the black and white. Do a comparison between the linkbuds S and the WF-1000XM4
Man I really wish these had more battery life in the buds and case. Imagine 10 to 12 hours per use on the buds. And like 50 - 54 hours total with the case🤤
I mean sure, but 6 hours is plenty usable.
The SleepBud II's are absolutely minuscule and they are still sometimes hard to sleep in
first lol :P
I don't normally do this, but I clicked on the video 8 seconds after it was published. That has to count for something
@@polaris3c0 congrats!
Sorry, but as I see you're not first, my comment says 9 minutes when I refresh, while urs says 8, I'm surry :c
yes I'm here 5 min in
"i don't wanna remember a stupid dance for every device in my life"... Product-Devs, are you writing this down ?
Also make them stay relevant for longer
#RightToRepair
Anyone know if the batteries are easily replaceable? Honestly struggling to pull the the ~$200 dollar trigger on something that effectively becomes trash in 3-4 years when the Batts die😞
Now which one should I go for? WF1000XM4 or Linkbud S?
I just bought these because the call quality is better on these then the xm4
7:23 ac for ear protection was the whole point for me. I Work in a shop running embroidery machines and it gets very loud. ANC is so a god send, Instead of blocking out the noice with more noise.
Idk how many people have Gone shooting with these but they are a game changer there too.
I'm actually super happy with the Soundcore Liberty pro 3. I even bought them for my mom as a gift
They are one of the most underrated earbuds on the market. I've had so many earbuds, but when I think of the best in overall sound and value, these are the ones I always think about.
I had the 2s, is the ANC good on the 3s
@@msquirrel1 Yeah I was surprised how good the ANC was. Gives you a really clean sound to whatever you are listening to in noisy places.
@@JorgeHMartinez thats not what I wanted to hear! Now I’m seriously thinking about getting them!
curious how comfortable they would be to sleep in, they seem to recess fairly far so it seems like they wouldn't be too bad but who knows depending on the pressure of laying on it.
I got these a couple of days ago. They are fantastic.
0:40 Why should i ca....
"Wow these are pretty light"
lol
Love these! They crush Air Pod Pros in everything except MAYBE pass through
Mom can we get sanity?
No, we have sanity at home.
Sanity at home: 2:50
I found the Airpods Pro 2 the most uncomfortable pair of earbuds that I have ever used
But can you disable the built in Alexa?
Yes, you can also substitute it with Google if you prefer
Dear Editor.. Thank you for spending the time on that wicked Canadian "Eh" image, it made my night, I really needed the laugh it gave.
The name not being alphabet soup is already a major improvement for Sony
I agree with Dankpods assessment of wireless earphone cases. The over all size doesn't matter, it's the thickness of the case that matters
where every you go to buy them it says it doesn't support wireless charging
That software feature of detecting what you're doing and adapting the noise cancelling isn't new at all, it was always in the wh 1000xm series (at least from mark 3) and the WF1000xm series also has it but I don't know when it started
charging port is in the wrong spot. I still haven't found a replacement for my anker soundcore liberty 2. sound is just so much better than anything else I've tried and they are so comfy!
Are these the follow up to the wf-1000xm4, since the wh-1000xm5 just came out?
Linus, i would strongly advise for you to test the Huawei Freebuds Pro. I kown Huawei is not as big in North America, but i promise you, there is no better alternative for the Airpods pro, i would argue they are even better in some ways, ie: connectivity, colors, noise cancelling, to name a few.
I trully recommend them ( i have no asociation whatsoever, was just trying to find a cheap airpods pro alternativa haha)
I just had a crazy stupid idea. earring stud that's a small magnet that wireless earbuds span onto so the don't fall out.
