The one situation (for me) that wireless charging could come in handy is if your phone has reverse wireless charging and you run out of battery on your earbuds.
The airpods pro wireless charging really sucks, and I love wireless charging. The airpods pro take forever to charge wirelessly and get hot too while charging. So I charge my earbuds with wires while charge my phones wirelessly.
Another use for the linkbuds is the downside which you pointed out, you can hear everything outside which would make them the safest music listening devices for biking, scooting, running, anything where you need to listen for cars. I use mine for scooting and they're perfect.
Aftershokz are pretty darn good for transparency too since they’re bone conductive and leave the ears wide open. They are a bit light on the bass but so are the linkbuds apparently.
@@SimonWoodburyForget The linkbuds sound like a good option for environments where hearing transparency is important. I only know about the aftershockz because I have a waterproof unit I use for swimming, and interestingly the water bumps up the bass quite a bit!
Absolutely love the linkbuds s. My new daily driver and I have many sets of ear bulbs including the mark4 Sony and iPod pro. Hands down these are my favorite for everyday use
I own both the xm4's and the linbuds s and I have to agree, that the linbuds S make for a wiser choice. While the xm4's sound a little better they are overshadowed on a day2day use by the Linbuds S. Call quality is great and sound experience more than you can hope for from an in ear set!
I’ve honestly never even thought about wireless charging. You can pretty much only use it at home but earbuds are something I use when I’m anywhere but home and even at that you’d have to remain stationary in one spot to charge them . It’s so much easier to toss them in a case, toss the case in my bag, commute to work, and then use them after that charge.
Wireless charging is great if you have a Samsung phone, because you can charge the buds from your phone. However, I find that extremely niche and rather plug it in. After all it is more efficient.
I have a wireless charger at work and a double charger next to my bed. also when I'm travelling or have forgotten to charge it for a while, I charge them from my Xiaomi phone's reverse wireless charging
I have the mx4 and mow grass all day. Love the ANC. Took awhile for my ears to used to wearing them all day. Can’t beat the 8 he battery using the noise protection and music. Would really consider the the linkbud s for the smaller size, but question the battery life.
What people don’t consider is battery health. All of these products will face battery degradation, if the buds start with 5 hours of battery life chances are that over two years assuming one charging cycle every few days, the battery health will decline to barely acceptable range. This happened to my OG AirPods within a year as I used them heavily for workouts and conference calls, by the end of the year they would last for less than 40 minutes. The Beats Pro started at 8 hours and after two and a half years they were still holding for 3 hours or so. This is why I would never consider headphones with at a minimum 6 hours of battery life, anything less than that is going to be disposable in 1-2 years.
@@Victor-kh5rh on a related note, user serviceability is why I've stuck with my older WF1000-XM3 and returned my XM4. It is relatively easy to replace the XM3 batteries every year or two to restore performance. $20-$30 for fresh cells vs. $200-$300 for new models with relatively minor improvements
I mow as well, I actually don’t like strong ANC, so I have the WF C500s. I like to be able to hear, and feel things too while I’m working It’s saved me and my equipment a few times
so do you wear noise protection over the xm4s? what ones do you use? My earbud on the left keeps falling out all the time and im wondering if its my 3m ear protection.
I've owned two pairs of XM4's and while they're great earbuds, there were a lot of quality of life issues I had with them. I couldn't wear them for more than an hour as the design was too bulky for my ear and the foam eartips enver gave me a comfortable seal. They were either too small or too big and they had a tendency to come off in my ear when i took the earbud out (which is really uncomfortable and freaky). I need earbuds or headphones whenever I am out and about so i have always invested money into a good pair of earbuds and headphones, and while the XM4's are objectively a higher tier, I am finding that the Link Buds S way more comfortable to wear and with some tweaking in the EQ from another youtuber's review I am finding that these buds are fit much better and totally unobtrusive. I'm listening to them right now and I can already tell there aren't any pressure points and the seal is comfortable and effective. So yeah, I unreservedly prefer the Link Bud S over the XM4 so in retrospect, i'm kinda happy now that I lost one of the earbuds and had to replace it.
How's the link s comparison with the x4 on good 🔊 bass? I have x4,and in comparison, my wb fx 700 blows it away.. my 700's charger quit after I had to purchase a new bud after losing one, which lead to buying the 1000mx4. Totally disappointed. I expected so much more, not to mention having to pay for an app to utilize a sound function.
Affordable does not mean cheap, the wfc500 seem to be a great choice given the price, stripped of many of the bells and whistles of the others, things you may never use so why pay for it, good sound, comfortable, great battery life, usual Sony quality build and if you loose them it’s not the end of the world, use them..abuse them and in a few years we’ll buy new earbuds anyway. What’s not to like.
I have the WCF500 and they do sound good. The problem is that you can find the same performance for 1/4 the price if you don’t mind going the off brand route.
@@Mn-fv2no The AKG N400NC TWS often go on sale directly from AKG for under $50 when available and easily outperform the WFC500. The problem is they quickly sell out! I also found a brand called LavaBeans whose performance is on par with the WFC500. They have 2 models. The E10 ($30) which have touch controls & 35hrs with case & the E11 ($50) which also have touch controls with wireless charging & a whopping 126hrs with case. Both offer good value that’s even better if you catch them on sale. I think that I picked up the E10’s for $15 and the E11’s for about $25.
@@Mn-fv2no I haven’t heard them. The only JBL I have heard are their headphones and speakers. I do like the general tuning so the Wave 200 may be worth a gamble.
I got the WF-C500 on sale at best buy for $68 a few weeks ago. If you can get these on sale, definitely a great bang for your buck. They sound great for the price (not bad at all), I listen to a lot of complex music, and while it is a bit muddy compared to the others, it's no slouch. The hissing is a slight issue but when actually listening to music, it's not very noticeable. They are pretty comfortable too. If you want an affordable pair of TWEs, keep these on your shortlist, especially if they are on sale! Great video too man, keep up the great informative videos 🤘
@@adamburke4738 I can't hear it at all when listening to music or videos. When I pause a video or end a call I hear it. It isn't terrible and doesn't ruin any listening, just a minor noise. Sometimes during calls I can hear it a bit, but most audio is louder than it. For the price, it's really the only negative
@@adamburke4738 Yep, honestly, just try them out, if they are bad, there are free returns from most places. There is an occasional slight beep too, not sure why or when, but it's not very frequent.
I'm a professional music producer/mix engineer and i had to go into the eq and boost up the highs a bit. That 2.5k and above needs a bit of a boost and that helps with the muddiness. Careful not to over do it tho. Originally when i put them on i was pretty disappointed, after eqing them they sound pretty solid.
I just bought the pair of C500s and at the first moment I was a little bit disappointed with lack of bass compare to my old Jaybird Vista. But then I changed the plug adapter for the bigger size (no I don't have elephant ears 😀) and modified the EQ within the app and they sound INCREDIBLY GREAT!!! 😱 What a nice surprise... And also much louder then the Vistas. Very happy with the purchase... And I love the mint color 💚
Is that the Jaybird Vista or the Vista 2 you’re comparing them to? I have the original Vista and am thinking of replacing them with C500s or Linkbuds S for daily use.
I always put sound quality first. But over time, using various wireless headphones, I realized that it is very important for me how comfortable they sit in the ear. Many headphones start to tire my ears, to the point that the ear cartilage can start to hurt. And, of course, the weight of the earphone and its size are extremely important, in this regard, because any action can cause loss or depressurization, and even if these are compact and lightweight headphones, this still happens from time to time. Therefore, my favorite here is definitely the Linkbuds S. However, the WF-1000XM4 really hold the bass better, and in general they sound a little better, they are quite possible to purchase if you do not listen to music for a long time, but only insert them at 10 minutes and listen to it in a relaxed atmosphere. Well, I would also like to add that, in fact, the review really lacked the WF-1000XM3 headphones, which are much more comfortable than their older model, but are still relevant and sound very decent, and probably not even worse than WF-1000XM4.
You have to switch it from "priority on stable connection" to " priority on sound quality" in the app for the C500. Go to the sound section to the "Bluetooth connection quality " option. And also turn off mono audio if you have it turned on in your phone settings
One downside of physical buttons in the wf500s is you can’t lie on your side in bed because you’ll either pause or turn the volume down depending which side you lie on.
The Sony WF-1000XM4s are still the best. I tried a lot of wireless earbuds and the XM4s quickly made an impact the first time you wear them. I just hope they will make a miniaturized version of it but obviously the LinkBuds S was Sony's attempt to do that but fell a little short.
I got the linkbuds and tried them for 2 weeks wearing them 8 hours a day and they wore on my ears so much that after a week or so my ears were tender to touch. Comfy for short duration but in my experience, it was harsh over a week or two
Wearing anything 8 hours a day will wear on your ears. Why would you be wearing something for 8 hours a day, basically 1/2 of your time awake? Your experience would be more valid and understandable if you had another pair of earphones you could be wearing for the same length of time but with less symtoms.
I own the Linkbuds and I love that I'm always aware of my environment. And yes, they do connect to multiple devices at the same time. You can turn this feature on and off on the app. Maybe an update after this video was released.
I first bought the WF-1000XM4 but, I do home office and I literally wear my headphones all day long (more than 12 hours daily) and they always run out of battery so I also bought the WF-C500 to use them while the WF-1000XM4 are charging again and I have to tell you, the the WF-C500 are way comfortable than the WF-1000XM4 at the point that now I only use the WF-1000XM4 when I want to hear some music or when I need to have the ambient sound feature enabled other than that I rather use the WF-C500, in terms of sound quality there's no comparison between those 2 they're far away from each other but I don't mind to see YT videos or having zoom meetings wearing the WF-500 they do their job.
Sony's WF-1000xm4 is my choice for the best sound quality. However, Sony needs to address the issue where transparency mode is interrupted when a loud beep is detected in the environment!! I never had this problem with the WF1000-XM3. And the dramatically poor call quality is also a shame. But out there they are the best sounding earbuds with the best bass, sound staging and ANC. When combined with a Sony Xperia smartphone which supports Sony's proprietary 360 audio the XM4s provide the best achievable listening pleasure in my opinion.
@@howardslack4890 No, you absolutely can't, because your voice gets distorted. So the other party had great difficulties with understanding what you're saying. Sony should definitely address this issue ASAP.
This is an intended feature of their transparency mode in order to protect you from noise levels that can damage your hearing. The airpod pros have the same feature, as far as I know they're the only two buds that have this feature.
I cant confirm the hissing on the c500 I bought then for the 10 Hours without the need to charge since I use the all day long and dont want to have change them to charge.
Have the C500 and XM4's. I have never experienced any hissing sound at all and have had them for several months. Maybe you have a defective pair. The reviews on heard on them no one mentions any hissing noise either. The XM4's are very uncomfortable with all the positives there are very big in your ears.
@@rachonlepatron1720 the sound quality is good. You just have to get the right fit. Makes all the difference and they have 10 hour battery life. They are small and very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I have several pair of earbuds from Apple to Beats to Sony. These are not bad at all.
I hear no hissing sound at all on my C500. They have better bass and are more comfortable than the XM4. XM4 have a great crisp sound and I don't care about ANC or any of that. I have the overhead WH-1000XM3 for ANC. For me, the C500 are the better choice and I'd pick them even if they were more expensive than the XM4.
But the hissing complaints are just too common. That even if it's "just a bad pair", those bad pairs exist in large numbers. I was planning to buy these and had my heart set to them. But now with the hissing reviews, I am afraid.
Just recently bought the C500, it's my first wireless earbuds. I've been in the professional concert/festival/events industry for 30 years now and honestly, my hearing is pretty ferked now, right ear is worse than my left. They sound ok to me for watching pootube etc on the go but too quiet to actually rock out to some music. For watching a video on my phone in a bar, they are great, can't hear any hissing myself.
I just got the c500 for fathersday. Mine are dead silent with no hiss. I also have sennheiser mw1, liberty 2 pro, liberty 3 pro, soundcore life q30 and the spirit dot core. The c500 sounds the best to me. Balanced, clear, great separation, clean bass, most comfortable and great software features. Nice review. I’m a sub.
I was hoping for a refresh of the sport model earbuds but looks like the linkbuds S are the new midrange possible sport variant. I honestly don't care about wireless charging on my earbuds as I don't use the power share feature on my phone. I just plug into a battery bank
My main concern when purchasing one of these Sony earbuds was wireless charging. I would have loved the Linkbuds S if they had the feature. I am happy with my WHX1004 but was pricy, I wanted something more slim and discrete too.
Me too. I got the XM3 and looking for new ones and thinking to buy the Linkbuds. Case is smaller, More light, got ANC and Got IPX4 so I can use them while sweating and raining
Sony just released a firmware update for the Linkbuds S and the WF-1000XM4 that allows for multipoint connections. I'm able to switch my Linkbuds S between my phone and computer without issue now.
These Linkbus S are so comfortable compared to others and fit really well for all gym moves. I would have liked wirelees charging but battery life is so good i rarely charge them!
Battery life is awesome for commute or workout sessions and I think that's really where the linkbuds s shine. I use them at work and have transparency on at all times and only squeeze out 4 ish hours before it starts warning me about the battery being low. They disappear in my ears but I can only get about one extra full charge from the case (just charging the right earbud from empty brings it down to 50 so I imagine charging both from empty would downright kill the case. Furthermore the software experience is less than stellar. While it supports google assistant you have to use the right earbud and you are unable to use the left one standalone which is a bit of a deal breaker for me since the one earbud only takes me 3/4 be of the way through a shift. I love the earbuds but they don't quite suit my needs. If they stayed in my ears while I was sleeping they would be amazing sleep buds since they are small enough that they don't irritate my ears when laying on my side
I bought the c500s years ago and everything has survived with hard use. They can be very bass heavy, but their app has a decent customizable EQ. Mine does not hiss. Bought a pair of linkbud S, not as heavy on the bass but do sound pretty good. Very comfy. Just adding some more opinions onto the video
I went from Samsung live buds 2 to Sony buds pro 2 and now I’m on the Sony 1000xm4 , the sound is good but more comfortable the memory foam is just best !
I had XM4 for 6 months, they are excellent, but one side stopped working and they did not wanted to repair them in waranty. Worst after sale repair center is sony from experience. They pretend they were not taken care of, but they are mint state. I am avoiding sony now for new toys, and I am considerring swapping all my cameras/optics away as they just stop repairing during legal waranty (2yr in France).
There's a brief mention to the transparency mode that I wish would have been discussed in greater detail. Because the linkbuds S had better mics for call quality, does that also mean that those same mics on the "S" buds are better for that mode?
For me, if I need to hear my surroundings, I put one earbud in as I use the Bose soundsport free(I think that's their name). Would you recommend an upgrade from these to the linkbud s
I am going to buy a pair of earbuds but I couldn’t decide which one to buy I am using iPhone but I am still thinking of xm4s or momentum tw3s instead of airpods pro because I think they are better and at my country Turkey pros are more expensive(not that much) I will use them while sleeping too
C500 has a much better bass than the XM4. And they're more comfortable. So it's a better pick for me. I'm thinking of getting the transparent LinkBuds to use in bed. Can you tell me if they are small and comfortable enough to lie down on the side with them?
XM4 are available for $200 right now in my country, while the the Linkbuds S are not available at all. Considering that both ANC and comfort (I prefer small eartips on my Jaybird X3) are top priority, what's your recommendation? XM4 or should I wait for the Linkbuds S?
Kinda dumb the WF-1000XM3's weren't included in the comparison. They're pretty old by now, but they can be gotten for $100 or less these days and still offer sound quality almost up there with the best wireless earbuds have to offer.
The XM3's aren't being produced anymore so if you buy them now, they would've been sitting for a few years. Batteries tend to become unreliable sitting idle for that long.
Hiss on 500? I’m not paying 250 plus for ear buds. On a budget the 500 take the win in my point. Auto pause isn’t a big deal. They have enough batter to just have in your hand until pausing. But sound is great on 500 and the links are a joke. My opinion
I'm tossing a lot between MT3, and Linkbuds S, for me comfort is most important, with sound quality coming in a close second. all other features I don't really care, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I've got first Momentum model and i found they have a great sound, good comfort, but Case battery and earbuds eats the charge like they're always turned on. I know battery is better on model 2 and 3, but I don't know if i want to change my older momentum tw with new momentum ones. I think New sony linkbuds S could be a nice choice if u found uncomfortable the larger TW 1000xm4. Sony says these new linkbuds s are the smallest and lighter tw with anc on market.
Good review, I purchased my XM41000 for $180.00 this Holiday Season. Great Sound. Still getting used to fitting ear bud tips securely in my ear. Your ear bud tip looked destroyed did you order additional ear bud tips? Where from and how long was delivery?
I have the Google Pixel buds A Series and the right earbud has been problematic since the most recent update. Prior to purchasing the Google Pixel 6a where the Pixel Buds came with them, I was actually looking at Sony earbuds since I have never had issues with any of the company's audio hardware. Since my Pixel buds are having issues, 7 months after purchase, I am looking at Sony earbuds again and I have added the LinkBuds S to my wishlist.

Hey Mike, I've bought a pair of Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds and they have a horde of issues. But the most disappointing one has been the microphone quality for me. I've sat in a completely quiet room in my home, and even then the other person on the call is not able to hear me. My voice gets completely garbled on cellular calls. And apparently, on apps like WhatsApp/Telegram, MS Teams, etc I am just legible enough. Would sincerely request you to put the microphones to a better test. While purchasing, I had known that they don't have the best sounding mic out there but for a $250 TWS Earbud, I atleast expected them to work.
The C500 are perfectly affordable and good quality for any audiophile. I'm on my second pair I love everything about them from the physical button commands, auto pairing to being able to EQ music on the connect app. They last me about a year when using everyday. My only issue is that me being ADHD mad, at work, I will put one down and forget where I put it 😅 like I need an around the neck cable version so I can take them out my ears and not lose them 😂

Sound quality = wf1000xm4 is alot clearer. Clearer HD sound is better than increased pitch. You can separate the different sounds instead of hearing a louder microphone. Comfort I prefer the wing tips. Noise cancelling is not a priority. (Bose stayhear tips are most comfortable) with 3-party manufacturers you can create same feeling Hate earplugs, especially foam. *Wf1000xm4* only annoying thing is pairing. Holding fingers. Easier to pair through smartphone. (Already have 2 pairs = free with Xperia purchases)
I got the expensive one..the 1000xm4 is good sounding with some eq, amazing app and options but my ears are hurting. I can use them like 30 minutes then is way too painful.
About the foam tips of the wf-1000xm4 - they will always wear down very fast. The durability is poor and I have worn down 3 pairs already within just a year. They are great soundwise, but way too expensive in my opinion if you order them extra. And one more point - I think they are one of the contributors to the WF-1000xm4 superior ANC performance. I have run mine with regular tips and the ANC then is significantly worse. The foam tips alone block a lot of noise. If Sony figures out a way to make those more durable - that would be a nice little advantage.
They're really good bro, especially with silicone. Obviously some sound come thru but you can hardly hear them, and u don't get that pressure feeling or weird sound so very good.
Mow grass and weedeat for work 8hrs a day and can hardly hear the equipment while playing music at only 75% volume. Getting the right tip for a good seal is critical. I have to use a large on one medium in the other.
had linkbuds for over a year now and I use them almost every single day, such a good piece of technology. Sadly I lost a pair and had to buy another, thankfully I found the pair I lost and now I have two pair! LOL
I have an iphone 13 and an HP laptop so not alot of apple devices. Please help me decide: sony linkbuds S or song WF - 1000XM4 or airpods pro or airpods 3rd generation? I care about call quality and comfort the most. 90% of the usage will be with my phone
Which are best for my line of work? I’m in the landscaping business. And I have small ears. I had the wf 1000 Xm4 and they were really good but I want to know which is the best?
Your mic test is not really very standardized. However, the XM4 sounds the best while the Linkbud S mic that you like sounds like you are attenuated through a swimming pool :) Maybe if you setup a fan and a boombox playing some jet engine noise for all 4 mics, the comparison would have been more meaningful.
@Carl Gunderson Yeah, because they previously used fast-charging via cable and switched to slow wireless charging, which produces less heat than fast cable charging but still more than slow cable charging.
Hear me out Tozo NC 9 are just $60 on Amazon. Has a variety of colors long lasting battery time and usb c accessible. If you aren’t lazy the not having wireless charging won’t effect you. I could afford $100-$200 for headphones but why?! I just think it’s irresponsible but live your life. I love my Tozo Nc 9 highly recommended them, give them a shot.
XM4's are probably the best for people with huge ears. I myself have medium sized ears and I had to refund XM4's, since they were getting uncomfortable real quick. They're just too big, more precisely they're nearly 50% bigger than LinkBuds S. LinkBuds S turned out to be amazing when it comes to comfort, but the sound is less full and overall worse. I wish that they released a model that has both the advantages of XM4's and LinkBuds S, but maybe technology just isn't there yet. Anyways, Sony earbuds are pretty damn good for their price and it mostly comes down to comfort and how much someone is willing to spend on them. I'm very happy with my LinkBuds S overall and they get the job done when training/working.
I bought the c500 on my vacations. I only heard the hissing when I came back home and I was listing music in a silence place. In a occasional listing I don't notice. It has a very good sound for the price. Really like how they sound.
I recently purchased Linkbuds S and I’m quite unpleasantly surprised by its Noise Cancellation (or the lack of it).. I find the passive noise cancellation on my Sennheiser CX 400 buds to be more effective than ANC on Linkbuds S..
I had the same impression at first but then my gf tried them and couldn’t hear me. I try again with the correct tips (doing the test of the application) and pressing a bit more in my ear and finally ANC was good
@@38Victor38 Thanks.. I’ve been using the ‘default’ tips (L) which are fairly comfortable. I used the larger ones (LL) yesterday. Yes, cancellation was significantly better with these, but they were not comfortable since I had to ‘force fit’ them into my ear canals due to their larger size. Also, I’m not sure if Noise Cancellation improved naturally because of better isolation due to larger tips.. In summary, I feel that Noise Cancellation with the tips I’m comfortable with is subpar.

I like to be able to hear, and feel things too while I’m working
It’s saved me and my equipment a few times
so do you wear noise protection over the xm4s? what ones do you use?
I expected so much more, not to mention having to pay for an app to utilize a sound function.
wich UA-camr gave you the right eq?
Affordable does not mean cheap, the wfc500 seem to be a great choice given the price, stripped of many of the bells and whistles of the others, things you may never use so why pay for it, good sound, comfortable, great battery life, usual Sony quality build and if you loose them it’s not the end of the world, use them..abuse them and in a few years we’ll buy new earbuds anyway. What’s not to like.
I have the WCF500 and they do sound good. The problem is that you can find the same performance for 1/4 the price if you don’t mind going the off brand route.
@@arthurhaywood2184 like what brands can you tell me
@@Mn-fv2no The AKG N400NC TWS often go on sale directly from AKG for under $50 when available and easily outperform the WFC500.
@@arthurhaywood2184 thanks man i will look it out how about jbl wave 200 do you think it good i almost bought it yesterday but i waited to ask someone
Thinking about getting the C500. Is the hissing fairly loud when not playing anything or is it quiet?
@@adamburke4738 I can't hear it at all when listening to music or videos. When I pause a video or end a call I hear it. It isn't terrible and doesn't ruin any listening, just a minor noise. Sometimes during calls I can hear it a bit, but most audio is louder than it. For the price, it's really the only negative
@@Anthony32126 awesome. Thanks for letting me know.
@@ldmendoza94 it's the original Vista. Both Sonys should be good choice and they're currently on sale
Currently on sale for $29!
Agreed, the c500s if tuned sound very powerful. Brain melting bass if you want
I've been eyeing the c500 for a few weeks now. Price is affordable and battery life is decent. Think I'll pick them up at the end of the month
And also turn off mono audio if you have it turned on in your phone settings
ty i'll have to give this a try
Does that stop the "hissing" he's talking about?
One downside of physical buttons in the wf500s is you can’t lie on your side in bed because you’ll either pause or turn the volume down depending which side you lie on.
None of the reviewers i seen mentioned c500 hissing sound except you. And quality content right here, i am glad yt recommend your videos. Instant Sub
The Sony WF-1000XM4s are still the best. I tried a lot of wireless earbuds and the XM4s quickly made an impact the first time you wear them. I just hope they will make a miniaturized version of it but obviously the LinkBuds S was Sony's attempt to do that but fell a little short.
XM4 are too big, uncomfortable, and not secure enough for exercise. Deal breaker.
The xm4 are really good but they hurt my ears , I'm going to return them and try the linkbuds s
Change the foam tips..use silicone tips ..then there will be no uncomfortable issues
@@alejandronuno9829I've done the same, they are perfect now
I still remember the first time I put them on. It was amazing.
I got the linkbuds and tried them for 2 weeks wearing them 8 hours a day and they wore on my ears so much that after a week or so my ears were tender to touch. Comfy for short duration but in my experience, it was harsh over a week or two
I felt that for the first week, now I don't have any fatigue or soreness at all.
You think with such good ANC that you could make a clearer phone call in loud environments
I've found the same with airpods pro. People can barely hear me with the airpods pro, so I revert to the regular airpods for phone calls
I'm on the fence between the Linkbuds S and the Pixel Buds pro. The multi point on the Pixel buds pro might be enough to sway me.
I’ve had my XM4s since launch and I love them 😁
Same.
I cant confirm the hissing on the c500 I bought then for the 10 Hours without the need to charge since I use the all day long and dont want to have change them to charge.
I don`t understand the obsession with wireless charging. Plugging something in every 3 days doesn`t seem like that much effort.
I was waiting for this review. Excellent review. Thank you
Thanks for your kind words!
Have the C500 and XM4's.
I have never experienced any hissing sound at all and have had them for several months. Maybe you have a defective pair. The reviews on heard on them no one mentions any hissing noise either.
The XM4's are very uncomfortable with all the positives there are very big in your ears.
Is the sound quality much different ? Ive got the xm4's and im looking for a cheaper pair wuth good sound for work
I also have the c500s and have never heard a hiss. Also, I know they're officially $100 but are always on sale for $70-80
@@rachonlepatron1720 the sound quality is good.
I’m a sub.
Just got Sony linkbuds S few weeks ago for only 99$ ❤ and my god they're worth that price and some more 🤩
I was hoping for a refresh of the sport model earbuds but looks like the linkbuds S are the new midrange possible sport variant.
Great comparison as always Mike. I still love my Xm's but I'm considering getting the Linkbuds S
Me too. I got the XM3 and looking for new ones and thinking to buy the Linkbuds. Case is smaller, More light, got ANC and Got IPX4 so I can use them while sweating and raining
Sony wf-c500 best buds I personally use custom settings for next level sound and bass quality here is my setting -8+2+2+3+5 and clear bass +3
Sony just released a firmware update for the Linkbuds S and the WF-1000XM4 that allows for multipoint connections. I'm able to switch my Linkbuds S between my phone and computer without issue now.
Same for the regular Linkbuds as well
Thanks for this I was searching for this feature
These Linkbus S are so comfortable compared to others and fit really well for all gym moves. I would have liked wirelees charging but battery life is so good i rarely charge them!
Should I buy the c-500 now or wait 2-3 months to buy the linkbuds S
@@emirobinatoru wait
How is mic quality? Thought of buying this
Battery life is awesome for commute or workout sessions and I think that's really where the linkbuds s shine.
Brillant comparison! Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!!!
I've had the 1000XM4 for few months now, my first wireless earbuds. I've enjoyed them thoroughly though I am not a heavy listener.
There's a brief mention to the transparency mode that I wish would have been discussed in greater detail. Because the linkbuds S had better mics for call quality, does that also mean that those same mics on the "S" buds are better for that mode?
I have the linkbids s and honestly they are so crisp in my opinion in this modem I've never been disappointed
Excellent comparison Mike!
Hey bro,
How are you.

So detailed !! i love this ! amazing review
For me, if I need to hear my surroundings, I put one earbud in as I use the Bose soundsport free(I think that's their name). Would you recommend an upgrade from these to the linkbud s
I am going to buy a pair of earbuds but I couldn’t decide which one to buy I am using iPhone but I am still thinking of xm4s or momentum tw3s instead of airpods pro because I think they are better and at my country Turkey pros are more expensive(not that much) I will use them while sleeping too
Xm4 has better sound than iPod pro
C500 has a much better bass than the XM4. And they're more comfortable. So it's a better pick for me.
I'm thinking of getting the transparent LinkBuds to use in bed. Can you tell me if they are small and comfortable enough to lie down on the side with them?
Would you please consider adding chapters or timestamps in your video descriptions?
XM4 are available for $200 right now in my country, while the the Linkbuds S are not available at all. Considering that both ANC and comfort (I prefer small eartips on my Jaybird X3) are top priority, what's your recommendation? XM4 or should I wait for the Linkbuds S?
XM4. Just bought them today habibi. 220$ on sale here
LinkBuds are way more comfortable
Thanks for reviewing these earbuds, bought the Sony Linkbuds S after watching your video, loving it
Kinda dumb the WF-1000XM3's weren't included in the comparison.
My opinion
Absolutely fantastic video. So thorough and to the point.
The Bose QuietComfort earbuds are reaaaaaally comfortable. The ANC is also great. Imho they really honour their name: they're quiet and comfortable.
Still having connection issues with my Jabrq 7 Actives so might consider switching to one of these.

I used it for 1 year already and the form is still good and I'm still using it the best mx4
The C500 are perfectly affordable and good quality for any audiophile. I'm on my second pair I love everything about them from the physical button commands, auto pairing to being able to EQ music on the connect app. They last me about a year when using everyday.
My only issue is that me being ADHD mad, at work, I will put one down and forget where I put it 😅 like I need an around the neck cable version so I can take them out my ears and not lose them 😂
Which model has the best bass response. Im currently using Jabra Elite 7 Pro. They're ok, but the battery life is fading on them.

The Linkbuds S stuck uncomfortably dee in my ears so I returned them. Now I consider buying the xm4, but do they have the same intrusive fit?
As an all around package, my favorite pickup has been the 1000xm4's.
Excellent explanation Brienn! Covered all aspects. In my opinion link buds s is budget buds with ANC, comfortable.
Sound quality = wf1000xm4 is alot clearer.
Clearer HD sound is better than increased pitch. You can separate the different sounds instead of hearing a louder microphone.
Comfort I prefer the wing tips. Noise cancelling is not a priority.
(Bose stayhear tips are most comfortable) with 3-party manufacturers you can create same feeling
Hate earplugs, especially foam. *Wf1000xm4* only annoying thing is pairing. Holding fingers. Easier to pair through smartphone. (Already have 2 pairs = free with Xperia purchases)
I wish the LinkBuds fit in my ear. I did like them but they kept falling out, even with the largest tip. I guess I have to get the LinkBuds S
I got the expensive one..the 1000xm4 is good sounding with some eq, amazing app and options but my ears are hurting. I can use them like 30 minutes then is way too painful.

in my country the wf1000xm4 and linkbuds S cost the same, i dont know what to buy
right, if only xm4 mic isn't such shjt I would definitely pick xm4 no brainer
About the foam tips of the wf-1000xm4 - they will always wear down very fast. The durability is poor and I have worn down 3 pairs already within just a year. They are great soundwise, but way too expensive in my opinion if you order them extra. And one more point - I think they are one of the contributors to the WF-1000xm4 superior ANC performance. I have run mine with regular tips and the ANC then is significantly worse. The foam tips alone block a lot of noise. If Sony figures out a way to make those more durable - that would be a nice little advantage.
I had the c500 never heard of no hissing I love these things for the price can't go wrong
The Box Said it is made for iPhone & iPods i have a dilemma if will it work to Android phones? 🤖 Because the review for voice call is very good.
I would really like to know how good the ANC is on the XM4's with silicon ear buds before I would consider them.

Recently bought the Linkbuds with the Donuts on them, its been great so far :)
I changed the tips on my Linkbuds S and all the darkness disappeared. I now use the Acoustune / Kbear 07 tips.

The foam tips on my xm4's broke after a month so Ive just stuck with some spare crappy tips that fitted them
Wireless charging would impact the battery's lifespan, it's better to slowly charge via cable to keep the cells healthy.
@Carl Gunderson It's not about the speed, it's about the charging efficiency. Wireless charging generates access heat, which is bad for your battery.
I have the C500 and I like them but they are a bit too big for my ears (I have small ears) great value for money still
I bought the c500 on my vacations.
Not sure I like the sound with the C500’s. You mentioned there are better ear buds at the same price point? Thx
