The reason why the first trick works is that, every time you switch weapons, it cancels the cooldown of the weapon you just used. Roundabout and Lobber have high damage, but long cooldowns. By canceling the cooldowns, you're getting a higher rate of fire than either weapon can do by itself. This is a common trick found in many games that have weapon switching. DOOM 2016 and Enter the Gungeon, for example.
You probably knew about this already, but if you make a second glitch guide, there's a way to glitch Dr. Kahl's robot into staying in the flying mode without entering the final section, it's happened to me, but I'm not sure how to replicate it. My best guess would be to hit it just as the head leaves the screen, but idk for sure
About the "Max damage" glitch: it has to use the lobber. The lobber does a ton of damage but it fires very slowly, but switching weapons negates the lag that is in between shots. It's the same for roundabout as it is also a slower weapon and switching negates startup/end lag
Nice. The weapon switch glitch is pretty similar to the MAlice cannon from "Touhou Eiyashou~ Imperishable Night" or the quick switch reload from some of the MGS games.
For the first glitch, the weapon switching one, if you change your shoot button to a trigger/bumper and you switch weapon button to a face button it makes it MUCH easier to mash. Right thumb VS left index finger. I use a Gamecube controller and have swap weapon mapped to Y and shoot mapped to L, so I just hold L to shoot while mashing Y to switch weapons. That makes it easy with a gamecube controller to jump by pressing A as well, since it right underneath your mashing finger so you can just glance onto it.
Another thing I haven’t seen mentioned is that if you don’t beat all of the bosses and go to King Dice’s Boss Fight there is a little extra cutscene telling you to get more debtors
I’d hate to repeat other people or not idk , but if you switch the button bindings of weapon swap and shoot, you can jam X(or square) a whole lot faster
So the "Max damage glitch" I think is less of a glitch and more mechanical exploit. What's going on is that it's taking slower firing shots (that do more damage per shot) and resetting the "reload" that's between shots. In regards to The Devil's Palm attack, I've tested and you CAN NOT duck under it. Depressing, but you can still use your dash to extend your air time for avoiding the attack.
A friend and i found one when we were in the tree run and gun where i accidentally froze the dragon fly and basically just fired, i was laughing my ass off as my friend just sat there in amazement because we were struggling so much on that level

There is also a King Dice glitch/chest where if you stand to the far side of where he is going to plant his hand down you can actually stand behind it and deal damage to his hand
for the first one if you change your fire/x for your switch weapon/l1 and fire to l2 then jump/a to your lock shot button/r1 then you make the game a lot easier
The extra damage thing isn't a glitch, it was meant to be in the game. If you talk to the pirate girl on isle 3, she tells you to switch wepons as fast as you can for more damage.
The monkey glitch on King Dice is pretty easy. Just parry one of the cards the moment he hits the side of the screen. The timing feels pretty loose on it. So, it shouldn't be too difficult.
The reason it increases your damage is because it circumvents your shots cooldowns when you switch between them, and the reason lobber/roundabout are the best for it is because they're slow firing weapons that each have individually powerful shots. It's because weapons don't share cooldowns, meaning you can essentially get the full damage of two different weapons at the same time.
There is also a glitch with the monkey mini-boss on the king dice level where if you hug the edge of the screen enough, the monkey will glide off the screen, killing himself
you can also during the beppi the clown fight if you use invincibility special and jump on the clowns riding the roller coaster the game freaks out with tons of clouds everywhere.
There is Another glitch in the robot with the airoplane: in the second fase If You Don't hit the Head for ten seconds and If you destroy two bombs in one with the Head in the explosion, the robot never get the thrd fase and you can beat easly
You can skip 2nd phase sally by getting the secret phase and doing enough damage to get her to the 2nd phase and you will go straight to the 3rd phase.
If you are right handed, here is a good tip: Go to your settings and bind your switch weapon to right bumper and lock to left bumper. But that is absolutely your choice.
i have a glitch. me and my friend were playing cuphead and we found a glitch that was in botanic panic where you can hide behind the potato. you have to touch the potato and run behind him. then you find a spot you cant take damage from the potato.
You know I ran into a glitch with Sally Stageplay. I was fighting her and I dont remember what triggered it but during the first phase, she would stop moving and stand still doing nothing and when ever I hit her she wouldnt take damage. So We'd just endlessly stand there doing nothing. Just....just wanted to mention that.
Theres one for king dice too. If you super as hes about to start flipping out the cards from his hand he animation locks and once theyre gone he wont move he stays in the animation, its how i beat him completely by accident. Im pretty sure if you super at the right time on any boss they get animation locked like with the flower
I had a glitch happen recently at the Devil's final phase where I used my super beam and immediately got hit, and then I was just stuck in the jumping animation and I was invulnerable, so I just fired away while floating and flipping. I have no idea how to recreate that.
you didn't mention the run and gun glitch against the big bee at the end -- simply jump into him, take the hit, and then fly over and you beat the level without being him. Pretty cool.
The fast weapon swap isn't really a glitch it's rather more like a technique and in some way even an exploit since you are skipping the waiting time before you can take another shot... almost everything else tho are glitches/ heavy exploits
There are some bosses you can glitch by using your special during the phase change like the frogs. I saw someone repeatedly glitch the frogs on video, but he never tried to see if he could finish the fight. I ran into a funny one where I parried while doing a special (parry charm) and I was stuck spinning in the air.
the one with th monkey by King dice, I discovered right at my first fight against him. Just loose the memory game 3 or 4 times, and he flies away and you automaticly win... makes this fight actually a whole lot easier.
Another tip that isn't really a glitch or exploit is on Cali Maria you can circumvent the petrify beam blasts before the final phase by immediately flying toward her eyes when she winds up. Her body moves around to much so the lower section isn't protected, same with her hair. But right in front of her eyes there is a deadzone for some weird reason. If you can utilize this you easily shave time and difficulty off the run; the trick isn't even that hard to do it's just unintuitive.
For the rapid shooting, what I did was to make the weapon switch Square, or X on Xbox... and make shoot R2, or RT on Xbox, its a lot easier for me and doesn't really hurt my index finger that much.
I've actually come across a cuphead glitch in phantom express where on the board I parried the l'il thing on the left on the same frame when the ghost pumpkin droped the pink soap thing on the l'il thing on the right and the board went to the right than instantly went back to the left.

So the "Max damage glitch" I think is less of a glitch and more mechanical exploit. What's going on is that it's taking slower firing shots (that do more damage per shot) and resetting the "reload" that's between shots.
In regards to The Devil's Palm attack, I've tested and you CAN NOT duck under it. Depressing, but you can still use your dash to extend your air time for avoiding the attack.
A friend and i found one when we were in the tree run and gun where i accidentally froze the dragon fly and basically just fired, i was laughing my ass off as my friend just sat there in amazement because we were struggling so much on that level

There is also a King Dice glitch/chest where if you stand to the far side of where he is going to plant his hand down you can actually stand behind it and deal damage to his hand

for the first one if you change your fire/x for your switch weapon/l1 and fire to l2 then jump/a to your lock shot button/r1 then you make the game a lot easier
The extra damage thing isn't a glitch, it was meant to be in the game. If you talk to the pirate girl on isle 3, she tells you to switch wepons as fast as you can for more damage.
But it did get patched
She says to mix up your load out cause different bosses are easier with different weapons
The monkey glitch on King Dice is pretty easy. Just parry one of the cards the moment he hits the side of the screen. The timing feels pretty loose on it. So, it shouldn't be too difficult.

The reason it increases your damage is because it circumvents your shots cooldowns when you switch between them, and the reason lobber/roundabout are the best for it is because they're slow firing weapons that each have individually powerful shots.
It's because weapons don't share cooldowns, meaning you can essentially get the full damage of two different weapons at the same time.
There is also a glitch with the monkey mini-boss on the king dice level where if you hug the edge of the screen enough, the monkey will glide off the screen, killing himself

you can also during the beppi the clown fight if you use invincibility special and jump on the clowns riding the roller coaster the game freaks out with tons of clouds everywhere.
There is Another glitch in the robot with the airoplane: in the second fase If You Don't hit the Head for ten seconds and If you destroy two bombs in one with the Head in the explosion, the robot never get the thrd fase and you can beat easly
You can skip 2nd phase sally by getting the secret phase and doing enough damage to get her to the 2nd phase and you will go straight to the 3rd phase.
If you are right handed, here is a good tip:
Go to your settings and bind your switch weapon to right bumper and lock to left bumper. But that is absolutely your choice.
i have a glitch. me and my friend were playing cuphead and we found a glitch that was in botanic panic where you can hide behind the potato. you have to touch the potato and run behind him. then you find a spot you cant take damage from the potato.

You know I ran into a glitch with Sally Stageplay. I was fighting her and I dont remember what triggered it but during the first phase, she would stop moving and stand still doing nothing and when ever I hit her she wouldnt take damage. So We'd just endlessly stand there doing nothing. Just....just wanted to mention that.
Theres one for king dice too. If you super as hes about to start flipping out the cards from his hand he animation locks and once theyre gone he wont move he stays in the animation, its how i beat him completely by accident. Im pretty sure if you super at the right time on any boss they get animation locked like with the flower

The PREY gloo elevator OoB glitch was also adopted pretty quickly. Got patched tho, don’t know the speed runs now.
I had a glitch happen recently at the Devil's final phase where I used my super beam and immediately got hit, and then I was just stuck in the jumping animation and I was invulnerable, so I just fired away while floating and flipping. I have no idea how to recreate that.

you didn't mention the run and gun glitch against the big bee at the end -- simply jump into him, take the hit, and then fly over and you beat the level without being him. Pretty cool.
Not a glitch, this is intentional for pacifist run. You don't have to even take a hit if you dash above him.

The fast weapon swap isn't really a glitch it's rather more like a technique and in some way even an exploit since you are skipping the waiting time before you can take another shot... almost everything else tho are glitches/ heavy exploits
There are some bosses you can glitch by using your special during the phase change like the frogs. I saw someone repeatedly glitch the frogs on video, but he never tried to see if he could finish the fight. I ran into a funny one where I parried while doing a special (parry charm) and I was stuck spinning in the air.
the one with th monkey by King dice, I discovered right at my first fight against him. Just loose the memory game 3 or 4 times, and he flies away and you automaticly win... makes this fight actually a whole lot easier.
Another tip that isn't really a glitch or exploit is on Cali Maria you can circumvent the petrify beam blasts before the final phase by immediately flying toward her eyes when she winds up. Her body moves around to much so the lower section isn't protected, same with her hair. But right in front of her eyes there is a deadzone for some weird reason. If you can utilize this you easily shave time and difficulty off the run; the trick isn't even that hard to do it's just unintuitive.
If you save an ult for that part you can dodge the beam, ult and then pretty much be done with that phase with a bit more damage

on the 2nd run n gun on the startoff map when you hit the menu button in the game on xbox, ps4 it respawns your teammate but it requires 2 player
For the rapid shooting, what I did was to make the weapon switch Square, or X on Xbox... and make shoot R2, or RT on Xbox, its a lot easier for me and doesn't really hurt my index finger that much.
4 years later, DLC just announced, and I'm wondering if any of these glitches were patched out.

The switching between weapons to maximize damage isn't a new idea. Speed runners use it on Contra III for SNES as well.

I've actually come across a cuphead glitch in phantom express where on the board I parried the l'il thing on the left on the same frame when the ghost pumpkin droped the pink soap thing on the l'il thing on the right and the board went to the right than instantly went back to the left.
