I'm as big a fan of Prince as I am a Michael Jackson fan and one thing I love is that in 1995 they both did these huge medley performances on award shows; Prince at the AMAs, MJ at the VMAs. At this point, they were both veterans in the game, they were the same age, and they were basically closing sagas in their careers around this time. Plus they were both wearing their hair short in 1995 as well😂😂
MJ had a big head start, sliding around.. and not playing instruments? Quincy Jones and producers pushing him?.. with like only seven albums with his career?? Everybody is slowly figuring this out now. Prince was the one man tour d e Force who did it all by himself.. his way! That's why when people dig these archives up,.. it's just another one of the billion things Prince did. And 44 albums!.. when did he inhale??..
Lighten up, Francis! If everyone was as great as Prince, he wouldn't be special, would he? There's plenty of talent out there. Don't be a hater cause they ain't as good as the Greatest!✌️
Silence Dogood I’m not hating, I’m just disgusted that the entire music industry has shot to Hell and they don’t give a crap WHAT the “music” comes out sounding like. They are literally just manufacturing music with a familiar sound to sell records. That’s why all of the music today sounds alike, they’ve done studies on what sounds sell the best and then produce the music accordingly. They are literally microwaving “hits” based off of the stupidity of the masses who will flock to iTunes and buy the crap up like candy. We’re literally living in the age of processed, mass produced music or “McMusic,” if you will; to use a fast food analogy. And then artists with REAL talent are looked over or sidelined while whichever “artist” with the biggest plastic butt or the most drama gets all of the attention. For example, the likes of Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Cardi B. would have NEVER even been good enough to SWEEP the floors at these record studios back in the 80s/90s, much less RECORD in them! That’s what disgusts me. 😒
Prince was just to cool & smooth AF. I know Morris day plays the cool guy but not compared to Prince. The guy was the genius of our era with out a doubt.
It's all FAKE! Humans do the rehearsal... and Ai deepfakes the show. It's all fake! That's why you sign contracts. You have to lie. It's not real. All dances are computer graphics- just like music videos. Humans rehearse and animations does the rest. It's fake like Jim carey said. It's fake/.
He had all three women he was with all on strange at the same time. Poor Nona, this was after their brake up. Carmens a dancer and so is Mayte. Only Prince could pull those off.
Just love this man 💜 He was the best of the best! And anyone who knows anything about music and musicianship knows it! Miss him so much 😢 there will always be the haters out there … you know shit about him, so stop disrespecting his legacy! To real fans who loved and respected him, we will ignore the haters, like he did! Their hate is a sad reflection of who they are! Prince stood for excellence, love and kindness, everyone getting along no matter your colour, helping others and spirituality. If these are qualities you think aren’t important and hate, along with the man, then you aren’t worth even engaging with. The man was a genius! And a beautiful soul. Loved and missed beyond belief 😢💜
I love his voice!❤ Good performance, favorite bit was when they performed "Billy Jack Bitch". Also his mannerisms during his speech...😰😍*sighs*. Liked seeing Nona up there, she seemed so happy to honor him that night, you could hear the love in her voice. So cute when he kissed her. I feel bad about how he did her though. Weird how he performed "Eye Hate U" when Carmen was also there, and him and Mayte was basically re-created what they did in the video. Had all his women there that night. Love him.
Tellement de peine qu'il soit parti..4 ans déjà ,toute ma jeunesse et ma vie sont remplies de sa musique et de sa présence ,qu'ils étaient beaux avec sa femme quel gâchis, trop de peine de le voir si plein de vie
Man, I had the audio of this, recorded from my TV back from when it aired live. I wore that tape out listening to, what was at that time, a preview of tracks form the Gold Experience. I wanted to hear more and couldn't due to Prince's dispute with Warners.
That may have been part of the choreography. Mayte also did something similar in a VH1 (I think) performance of P. Control when she changed from a red outfit and came back in a silver mini dress.
He lips syncs this because the awards people didn't trust that he wouldn't do or say something that would surprise them. In Mayte's book she talks about how he's chewing gum to illustrate it as a big FU to the academy.
This performance is from the 22nd annual American Music Awards, not the Grammy's, so there was no academy involved. It's never been quite clear why he lip-synched, but there are several stories out there, but I don't think it had anything to do with the AMAs not trusting what he would say -- he'd accepted awards & made speeches at the AMAs many times before this. I even read that the lip-synch was his idea, partly due to the frenetic chaotic nature of this performance, but mainly because he was the rebellious TAFKAP at this time & was trying to distance himself for an award which was honoring Prince music.
03:22 They are SOOO jealous! Well, you can’t be this talented without a ton of haters. But my goodness, they’re on T.V., must they make it SO obvious? But he didn’t care. He was the baddest man on the planet and he KNEW IT! Just listen at those arrangements.

james owens III I still do! I waited at a MN record store, got the cd & The Artist never showed. Some say he didn't like this cd, & in fact, as far as I recall, a re-issue was done only sometime back...I love the entire cd...I think it's one of Prince's best/underrated cd's.💜
Oh how I love Prince. I have never seen him looking better than this.. What a sexgod.
Best of the best bad to the bone
I remember this performance!! Incredible!! The arrangement was good. That was Nona Gaye presenting; she was supposed to marry Prince, but he married Mayte instead. Nona was crushed.
ToonieMama Was she related to Marvin Gaye by any chance?
Isaiah Johnson his daughter
@@isaiahjohnson4450 His Daughter
He should’ve married Nona because she would’ve gave him beautiful babies. He crushed Nona, so the karma was Mayte not being able to produce healthy babies. 1 that was born unhealthy and 1 miscarriage. :( But that was his fault so. 🤷🏽♀️
@@ariana336pm The molar pregnancy was her fault it literally depended on her eggs with genetic make up of her eggs were not healthy so it caused his DNA to be duplicated Her genetic material in her eggs were inactive
Miss the excitement of a new album, the prospect of a UK tour, will never not miss his creativity!
That Keytar definitely dates this performance! Damn, Prince...I’m at a loss for words. He was just, for lack of a better word, incredible.
I loved prince since 1983 I was twelve purple rain movie came out I was hooked for life loved him to the day he died still loving him now 2021 forever fan RIP dear beautiful man music legend prince
I remember when i first heard of prince's passing, strange but true, it was just breaking dawn and i decided to sit at my bed room window, just as i did an extremely overwhelming sadness took too my heart
Plus they were both wearing their hair short in 1995 as well😂😂
Mj had a 15 year head start almost
plus mJ was the much better dancer lol. Much better
Closing sagas? how
MJ's career lasted for long after and he's still the most popular deceased artist ever, MJ's medley was a blockbuster, no one knows this even happened
I was gutted when I got the news. Such a genius! RIP
Humble genius💜the greatest contributor to music the world over.
Among so much things, he wore clothes like anybody in this world. A dandy. My ethernal love...
I have never seen this before. It is awesome! Thank God for real artist and may he rest in peace.
Back when you had to have talent to be on an awards show. These new “entertainers” or whatever the hell they wanna call themselves DISGUST me!
The thing is it doesnt come from hear there here to be famous and make mone
Me too smh its like they just said we want acts with less talant as possible.
@@sirpoppinchuck So true.
Who do you think came up with Morris day cool concept ...... PRINCE
He came out the ground jamming hit them splits so slick ....I love you Princie
Roshun West that's not how you spell prince name
@@jenniferdaniels7370 One of his nicknames 😆😂
AWARD SHOWS WERE SO INTIMATE THEN. TODAY THEY"RE ALL ABOUT STAGE EXTRAVAGANZA INSTEAD OF TALENT.
No, they're more like illuminati rituals.
with a camera cut every 1.5 Seconds.
It's fake/.
Can we take time to acknowledge Carmen Electra with the moves on point I see why prince had her dancing along side of him
the choreo is iconic af
He had all three women he was with all on strange at the same time. Poor Nona, this was after their brake up. Carmens a dancer and so is Mayte. Only Prince could pull those off.
On June 7 th is his Birthday.
Gold experience.
I love the dance, so fun!
looking Fresh my man. xox
I sereously appreciate that Prince is and was cool.
Forevermore.
Oh how Prince loves to Dance!! I catch myself in position at 6:13 quite often.
Just imagine Vanity rocking with Prince
I LOVE THE PRINCE VIDEOS N SONGS MORE THAN ANY HE IS OUR ROCK IL HIM N MISS HIM VERY MUCH
The entrance is absolutely legendary!
I'm sitting here excited like it's live and my first time seeing this. Lol. I love this man so much!😊💜💜💜
Coolest entrance to a stage ever
That reverse split is just total badass!
The gum chewing 😂💜
I remember watching this when it came on and losing my mind lol.
Love this beautiful man! Love and miss you Prince!😍😍❤❤👍👍
Mayte! The most beautiful 💕I love Prince forever 💕💕💕
5:45...this shit right here 👌 Still the greatest of all time 💜
Man, I had the audio of this, recorded from my TV back from when it aired live. I wore that tape out listening to, what was at that time, a preview of tracks form the Gold Experience. I wanted to hear more and couldn't due to Prince's dispute with Warners.
The artist formerly known as Prince.... has left this world and is living in the afterlife!!!!!
I love this man!!!God Bless him
Funny how Mayte stands in front of Prince and he tells her to "Go."
Yes he definitely had her go far away from him forever
@@SaffariRosemayte has some serious issues, she ain't that great of a dancer to me, no one is checking for her
That girl messed his his head up
Where is the time stamp that he tells her to go? 9:12?
He says coo? She nodded
That shot to the frozen audience is hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣
He knew he was the shit! 💜🥵
09:33 Little Richard in ‘Da House! I’m sure that he was so proud of Prince!
Lol Prince was little richards son & MJ was the jamesbrowns one ...nd still both so inspiring.. bruno mars ..lenny kravitz.. thats what we are ...
Great artist Mr. Purplicious himself 💜☔
3:21 = Carmen Elektra's top coming off. You can tell when they cut back and she's running off the stage with her arms across her chest. LOL.
Christopher McCaleb Thank you. I was wondering why he was lip syncing.
Love how he chewed gum, so sexxxyy!!
I read her book. HE was his own man. It's just too bad these celebs now are carbon copies of one another.
Isaiah Johnson You're sexy.
Omg I love prince he was one smooth brotha
Broke my heart!! In straight half!! Hard to 4get at that time, but easy to lose your memory of it. I guess it's the past now. Right? C-o-o-l!!
