Curious why the (online) story didn’t contain instructions on how to set and which software version it applies too.
just update your iPhone to latest software and it's set
@@PSy84It's off by default.
I wouldn’t ever saving banking information. You just have to memorize that
it’s okay to be smashed off your face, but be sensible. In my wild uni days a few years ago, when I went out, I just took an old phone that could just make calls with no personal information on it (to call a taxi), an ID that is not a passport, a student card and some cash. I told myself, if you’re being dumb enough to spend all the money on booze, you can just walk home, or get a ride with friends. (This was in one of the biggest cities in the UK, so everything was within walking distance if you lived in the suburbs. Imagine it would be a different story in America).
The lady at the end said never store username/password in your notes. That's not true because the Notes App has a separate passcode/faceid for a locked note.
Saving password in notes is not a good idea. Keychain has features the notes app doesn't .. like encryption.
you can actually use faceID/ Lock Screen passcode as well for a locked note. A prompt is shown when a user tries to lock a note for the very first time, asking what kind of password they wanna use.
Exactly, mine only has Face ID. You cannot store all passwords or client numbers for instance in Keychain
She’s right. That’s still risky. Use the keychain instead
The way this scam works is the see you enter in your passcode then steal your phone. If you keep your passwords in a locked note they will just put in your iPhone password.
What is cloning phones and what do you do when your phone is actually cloned….
is it ok to put info in a LOCKED note?
When Sprint used to be a thing, all their phones couldn't be use anywhere in the world after reported stolen. They use cdma and no SIM card.
What if someone stole my iPhone and ask me for the password? I heard the thief can access quickly n blocked with another passcode
Why would you tell your password to someone who stole your phone?
@@alanharper23 the thieve took my phone and asked my iPhone password to unlock my phone on front of me ,if the thieve has a knife or a gun pointing me any options ?. Is happening in many places
@@Benvenjtos obviously if you’re in danger then give it up, don’t risk your safety over it. This Stolen Device Protection feature means that the thief can’t change certain settings even if they have your passcode.
So you’ll give up your phone and your passcode, and when you’re able to, log in to iCloud online (or using another device) and report your phone as lost. You can track your phone on Find My and erase the data too.
@@alanharper23I have an iPhone 15 pro max but my case has Android logos all over it. I drive a Challenger Hellcat and debadged it down to a GT. All of my buddies got their hellcats and phones stolen. I haven’t.
Well the idea is that they cannot remove your iPhone from the Find My network or change Apple ID password unless they wait for an entire hour and forces you to authenticate using biometrics again. If they are able to do that, chances are you’re being held hostage, and there isn’t much a tech company can do at that point besides providing ways to call for help (which iPhone does)
hope this feature also available in mac
Here’s a thought just don’t lend your phone to anybody
It’s not about lending. Do more research on this case and you’ll understand
Did you not listen it’s about people stealing your phone goofy
Touch ID … do iPhones have this anymore???
It's functionally no different from a security standpoint. They mention touchID in the story as a matter of fact.
iPhone SE 3rd gen and iPad Air
The SE 2022 iPhone has it, and the iPad Air, but the next Models will no longer have them.
Yeah I'll stick to android. Fingerprint sensor will never do this 😂
I've found no need for a "Can you hear me now personal tracking device".
This maybe the way Apple wants to protect your phone, but, I don't even use a 'lockdown' method for my phone. 🤷♀️ I find the whole process onerous, especially after setting a bio-metric method and having the system ask for a password to be entered every third use. Not worth it to me; of course, I am the one person in the world who doesn't use banking apps, so I feel fairly safe. 🤔
THIS is how you prevent theft. Stole my phone? congrats you got access to pictures and contacts. and twitter lol. Not my life savings
Fair enough but most people use banking apps and even in the App Store they got their login connected which is connected to a bank
Is this to get everyone to update software for Apple’s advantage
?
There's no such thing as a "apple's advantage" they slow y'all phone the older it is have said they do so y'all "gotta" buy the -new- same old bland iPhone the release. and these update patch vulnerabilities as with our Android security patches cause y'all really thing Apple things are "hack proof" i hope not.
Apple literally earns about 20 billion every three months. They don't need to force anyone to buy anything. Go see a doctor. @@M4TTYN
Touch ID? How about when you are sleeping and then make your finger tap on your phone? Someone can do that. Specially people you trusted .
buy face ID iPhone...simple
Same problem. What if they put the phone to their face while they’re asleep? I’ve opened phones like that before.
@@ulisesr614On paper, that shouldn't work. Part of the pitch for faceID was awareness detection.
@@ulisesr614face ID need awareness in order to unlock, phone not simply gonna to unlock by just putting in front of a sleeping face.
@@PSy84 if I have money.. sure.. but how can you buy it when they already have your money. I know it was me wrongly trusted those faked friends.. it's not the iPhone it's the choices to be surrounded by monsters. You won't feel it until it happened .. so bad trusted for the slogan of very secured phone and you thought it is really but then not at all.
I've owned around 50 iPhone.
Never had one returned.
You need 50 iPhones for what reason? I’ve owed all 42 different models. They haven’t 50 iPhones yet.!
@@DeepDishPizza The biggest lie ever sold was fine my iPhone. Lol.
@@Mr.EeToMyself Huh? You mean “Find my iPhone”? Learn how to spell before you comment.
Old news like a year old 😂😂😂😂😂
Half-week*
Well the update came out on 01-22-24 so I'm not sure thats a year
Android has had this for at least a decade lol..
Apple stays playing catch up!
Actually they haven’t. Nice try at trolling
@@M4TTYNandroid does not have this goofy
It can identify your particular butt smell.
This is the deal, many americans like me commute daily and arent near home so will we be prompted to wait an hour everyday? Cuz my kids text and want answers NOw lol
Reason why I can't stand 2FA. 4/10 I don't have the device with me that its asking me for, so I can't access my own content. This seems like an even more hassled version of that
Why would you have to wait an hour? You can send texts whenever you want.
@@Rocksteady72aThis only applies to your iPhone. There’s nothing extra to remember and you don’t need any other devices.
Rather than using device approval for 2FA, use a password manager that you can use across all your devices. Then you can use any of them to get your 2FA code.
@@alanharper23 oh ok... I just think if a company sells a phone for over 1k that you should be able to use it anywhere. Maybe you can type in more than one city as home
@@WolfWhispering wait, I think you might have misunderstood the feature. It doesn’t outright block your phone when you’re “away from home”. You can still use your phone normally anywhere you like.
All that changes when you’re away from home, is that certain settings require Face ID, and other more critical settings require a one-hour delay.
But you can still use your phone as normal. Those critical settings are not things you would regularly need to change anyway. Only a thief would want to change them quickly.
I don’t use my face cause police would open them it happened to me.
Hanging out in bars with access to $30,000 on the phone. Idiots…. Shouldn’t be hanging out in bars anyway, the drunks.
So if your net worth is more that $30k you should never go to a bar?
