    Hello Beaders!
Welcome to a new beading tutorial.
I've always liked gemstones and I have always felt sad I cannot use them in my beaded projects, other than in the stretchy bracelets or on wire-based ones. And the main reason is: the gemstones are heavy, and that's why is difficult to use them with any thread when you simply thread them on.
But if the gemstone is encased in a bezel, you can use it as a pendant or create multiple points of connection with the other elements in the design, and create a strong, wearable item.
Today we work on making a bezel around a gemstone - black onyx - using a combination of techniques: we create the bezel belly band with right angle weave (RAW) then we create on top of this base some peyote rows. The result is a stone that you can much easily use in your beaded projects.
    The chapters are as follows:
    00:00 Intro
00:45 What materials you can use
02:28 How to anchor the beads
03:47 How to create the right angle weave (RAW) bezel belly band
05:36 How to attach the RAW at the second anchoring bead
06:58 Beading the second half of the RAW bezel belly band
07:40 How to attache the RAW to the first anchoring bead
09:8 Beading the first row of peyote stitch with 11/0 seed beads
11:25 Beading the second row of peyote stitch with 11/0 seed beads
12:50 Adding the first row of [peyote with 15/0 seed beads
13:50 Adding the second row of peyote with 15/0
15:10 Bead the second side of the bezel

what if your stone isn't drilled and doesn't have a hole?

I dont have such a stone, so I didnt try it myself... But I guess you just make the beaded bezel around the bead (without anchoring the beads through the bead hole) and then make sure you close it well with the 15/0 seed beads rounds, especially if the stone is heavy... just an idea...
