    imagine thinking you're about to eat and suddenly you're pulled up into the sky unable to breathe and a giant creature stars painting your body with ink, covers you with paper, wipes off the ink, then throws you back down. the other fish will never believe them. it's the equivalent of humans saying they were abducted by aliens.

    I prefer the traditional black and white images with no background.
    However I did like the idea of flicking ink onto the paper. I imagine this would provide a visual reference to stop the image floating in space.

    One Piece chapter 818 introduced fish printing to me for the first time back in 2016. Now that I watched this, I think I've been waiting without knowing for this video to drop ever since.

    Why they don't use edible pigment?

    • @ROANOKE01
      @ROANOKE01  3 роки тому

      Good question! Some artists do use edible squid ink in their gyotaku, though rarely. Sumi ink however, made of soot and animal glue, has been first choice since gyotaku began, so in keeping with the traditional method that is what is primarily used.

      @@ROANOKE01 thank you for replying. So, the fish become inedible, or they clean it again?

    • @ROANOKE01
      @ROANOKE01  3 роки тому

      Most gyotaku artists will wash the fish afterwards, making it perfectly safe to eat.
