I'm a bit too young to identify with this but a great song is a great song no matter what year you were born. My older sister was a Barry fan but everything I know or have read about the Ryans, suggests they were both just good, decent and down to earth blokes. RIP Barry and Paul and thanks for Eloise.

Absolutely brilliant. The melody, the arrangements, the intermissions during the song. Changes of rhythm, soundscape, strings that rock you between dreams and the reality of an unobtainable love... The drummer is a mad man on this recording as he really set the tempo in every sections of the song. To make this song so successful you have to have a great intro, and boy it takes off as the first few notes really catch you. The symphonic style, melodramatic and so grandiose very evocative of a story about to be told.... Genius.

@@noelworkman87 How annoyed the members of The Casuals must have felt, stalled behind Mary Hopkin and her Those Were The Days. A hard working band, The Casuals had their base in Italy for many years but had their English recorded songs released on Decca. They had other superb songs, like Sunflower Eyes and Fools Paradise but apart from a UK Top 30 placing with the decent enough Toy, Jesamine remains their finest moment.

Marty Wilde and Ronnie Scott wrote many songs together and some of them were given the pseudonym credits written by Manston and Gellar, Wilde probably being Manston and Scott probably being Gellar.

Loved the 60's. Have to say, I was a lucky young man, My parents split, But us kids had a great time, think, looking back, they were so consumed with their affairs, they gave us complete freedom, and we often stayed out till dark, We never knew their troubles, in depth, we were kids, But we loved them dearly.

I love seeing how many fans are still writing about Barry. I created a channel and page dedicated to him this year as I wanted to honour Barry and Paul Ryan and remember them fondly. They were such lovely men and their music lives on. There may be a 'new' album published soon as ( I shared it on my channel) Barry and Paul recorded a whole album in 1977 under the alias of "HERO". So we are all awaiting this album. I have all the relevant information about the album and also what happened on my channel, warmest regards, Tia
