@@jefeduh my love i would like to know to ship Chantilly cake.. Do you froze
I don’t even make cakes but I wondered how people ship food and here I am great video
Would love to see pics of when the cake reached.
What are the steps putting in freezer
Me too. To both comments
I sell cheesecakes. Do I follow the same method for that as well? I have people out of state who would like me to ship to them. How much is good for shipping? Also does cheesecake freeze well?
@@harlemking0810 That particular box from usps is a flat rate box, so it has a set price and you can just walk in and pick them up at the post office. You'll need to charge that price which is between $18-$22(they went up), plus the cost of the bubble wrap, plus the cost of the dry ice, and the charge for wrapping it in the clear wrap and also the boxing method. If you're paying yourself by the hour and it takes you 30mins to box it add 1/2 of your hourly pay rate. You have to charge for all the details otherwise you'll be paying out of your pocket for someone to enjoy your product and we dont want that. Cheesecake freezes well..Sara Lee has done it for years. This shipping method is roughly $30-35 easily.
@@GlamGail Simply put it in the freezer on the cake board, that's it. Make sure your freezer/fridge is clean and fresh with a box of baking soda to avoid your cake from picking up any food taste or foreign smell. Baked goods can absorb strong aromas for example, Opened chopped onions, bell peppers, seafood....just to name a few. Make sure everything is covered/closed properly to eliminate that.
OH NO ! You forgot to tape up ALL the seams on the Box. Twice I've ordered cakes that had to be mailed to my house. Both times the boxes were not sealed up properly and Ants found their way inside the boxes and even into the cakes wrapped up in Saran wrap. I also suggest putting the Cake inside a Freezer zip lock bag and not just using saran wrap. Plus sealing all cracks and seams on the box helps keep in the cold air when shipping out a frozen cake.
You cannot seal in up air tight due to the sublimation of dry ice would cause the package to explode potentially.
that could be deadly decision considering dry ice converts to gas as it melts and fully sealed box would essentially create bomb as it expands.
Too much wrapping will make the package combust in transit subscribe & like the video thanks
@@cancer0707 I always ship using dry ice. No explosion s so far..lol
@@carlhammill5774 such false information. I always ship with dry ice...never had any explosive cakes. Lol. Hysterical
Very helpful video thank you for sharing !
This is really healpful. ! Thank you for posting this.
Thank you for your expertise.
Thank you so much for these tips! I need to ship some cupcakes next week and I needed an inexpensive way to ship it. I appreciate you. Your cake looked bomb 💣 by the way. Lol #Newsubscriber
Thank you! Happy baking ❤️ get that global bag 💋
You can't just ship with dry ice there are special regs. As with storage containers, DO NOT seal your dry ice box airtight-the vapor needs to be able to escape or your package could explode. Go lightly with that packing tape.
Labeling for dry ice
For non-medical, non-hazardous air shipments in the United States with 5.5 lbs. or less of dry ice, simply mark the carton with “Dry Ice” or “Carbon Dioxide, Solid,” along with a note of the contents and how many pounds or kilograms of dry ice are included. If you have more than 5.5 lbs. of dry ice, you’ll also need to include a Class 9 diamond hazard label.
If you’re shipping dry ice internationally, IATA regulations apply. You will need to have a signed International Special Commodities (ISC) contract with UPS and a Class 9 diamond hazard label with the amount of dry ice noted on the label.
This is true. Dry ice is a solid CO2 (carbon dioxide)
Doesn't melt, but turns into gas (carbon dioxide)
If gas can't escape, it can explode.
I hope it never happens to your cakes- I appreciate your video
I shipped cheesecake from Florida to NYC.... UPS 2 Day Ground.... I used an insulated box and ONE frozen gel pack. It got there still cold. I froze the cherry cheesecake solid, wrapped it, then put it in the insulated box with the frozen gel pack, I then put the the box in the freezer until UPS came for the pick-up.
@@yotravssportsbag374I shipped chocolate covered strawberries a couple years ago and in the middle of NC summer. My ice packs melted before delivery. It was a disaster. But I’m not comfortable using dry ice
Thanks for sharing this informative video.
No problem subscribe & like the video thanks
You mentioned about wearing gloves when handling the dry ice. Does the dry ice burn the recipient when it arrives and they unpack the delivery?
Yes, your always supposed to include some sort of notice to make the recipient aware.
The dry ice will be melted by the time it reaches your customer
But as it thaws the frosting will.stick to the plastic wrap.
Excellent demonstration!☺️👌🏾
Thanks for sharing this!
How to ship a caramel cake and where to buy dry ice
how do i ship the little lunch box cakes in the small take out boxs
Can you please post the video of this cake when it was unboxed. I would really appreciate that.
Thank you! Great information.
Thank you for this video. I am thiking about shipping cakes for my business and was looking into where I can get dry ice. Where you get dry ice and how do you store dry ice at your business? How long does dry ice stay frozen during shipment comparble to ice packs which normally melts in 48 hours.
IF YOU'RE IN AMERICA, KROGER'S GROCERY STORE, WHOLE FOODS, AND FEW OTHER GROCERY STORES...(BE SURE TO CALL FIRST BECAUSE THERE'S BEEN A SHORTAGE)...IT LAST 24 HOURS BEFORE MELTING, IF YOU'RE PUTTING 5 LBS IN...BUT IT WILL STILL HAVE SOME CHILL FOR ROUGHLY 3-4 HOURS AFTER MELTING IF BOX IS SEALED TIGHTLY...YOU CAN ADD MORE IN CHUNKS OR BLOCKS FOR LONGER TIME, BUT YOU'LL NEVER FULLY GET 2 DAYS....
Thank you for this video! Very informative!
Thank you!!! I am going to try this!!! :-)
This was very helpful thank you
Now Sis where do you get your sturdy cake boxes from since you didn't like Walmart boxes?!?!
Excellent...thanks for ur clear video.. how long it will support to balance the cake....???
Thank you this is very helpful 👌🏿
Thanks for this video. My mom lives in Connecticut and wants me to send her a cake but I live in Texas.
Did you ever ship? How did it go?
This was a very helpful video
Tyyyyyyyyyy!!!!
Hey Sister I loved 😍 your presentation... and you helped me out a lot Girrrl!!! ... and your cake looked marvelous! But most of my customers love my Caramel Cake topped with Pecan Pieces... but Caramel does not freeze...! I was trying to put plastic wrap around it like you put on your cake... and as soon as the plastic wrap touched it... it stuck to it right away!!! I pray Yah bless your business... a million × + !!! Much Love & Success to You! Signed: CAN YOU HELP A SISTER OUT!!!🤔😮💨😵💫
I think it might be best to put the caramel in a glass airtight jar. Then they can put the jar in some warm water to loosen it & add it to the cake. & package the pecan pieces separately too.
Great video. TFS!
Do you have put a UN-1845 form and a "Shipper's Declaration" form as well?
UN-1845 is for surface, This package isn't legal without a class 9 DOT hazardous material label and a shipper's declaration attached to the box in triplicate and marking of the contests on the package. I think the civil penalty for this is at least $5,000 but I'm not sure. Could be a criminal case if this gross negligence results in a plane crash.
Dry Ice should never be just thrown in a box. It still thaws and will make your box wet. I couldn't help but chuckle with the throwing of the dry Ice into the box. That dry Ice has to be in a Styrofoam container inside plastic bags. You can't just put a lopsided cake in a box and dry Ice thrown on top. Lol. Omg! I thought this was a joke.
Can you do a video about how to package a cheesecake??
Where do you buy the ice ?
Should we pack a dry ice warning because it can burn, right?
How was a the out come my sister and I are trying to deliver to our family across the states..
How and when do you remove wrap from cake once it arrives
First thing first you definitely want to get it into the freezer or refrigerator immediately once you get it!
How much is the cake and the shipping? Do you have discounted shipping? Thank you!
Your Ph8 no I do not discount anything. Shipping costs more with the ice because of its weight
Can I also recommend taping all he sides of the mailing box to create an insulation for the cake?
Carrine Todman-Lewis yes that’s a great idea
that could potentially be deadly. Dry ice converts to gas that expands if sealed. Sealing all sides would essentially create bomb for postal workers and recipient of box.
@@carlhammill5774 i was thinking the same. Dry ice needs ventilation so an explosion doesn't happen
not a good idea. Dry ice can explode if all sides are taped closed. Need proper ventilation.
This is very informative. However, I’m not sure where the reference to dry ice came about since the initial discussion was on mailing a cake and it is not being packaged with dry ice.
Is it frozen because of the icing
How much do you add for Shipping? I’m
Not a Professional Baker but I do have requests to ship. I’ve never done this before . I don’t want to cheat myself or someone else!!
Does the dry ice cause the cake to ‘dry out’?
Candice Hodge no it doesn’t. Make sure to send priority because more than likely the ice will melt completely before it reaches its destination.
Priority which is how many days?
@@25stakes25 priority also can take 3 days. I was thinking of overnighting but that's gonna cost an arm, a leg and half a boob.
Denise how much does it usually cost to ship a cake priority?
What type of boxes do you usually use and where can I find them?
Dry how long work?
Could you use gel packs instead?
Yes tried it.. Restaurant Depot in Atlanta gives them away for free if you’re in Georgia. but It will work fine as long as the gel packages are placed where if they melt the condensation won’t melt your cake
Have you ever shipped a two tier cake?
No but if I did I’d ship them in two separate boxes with instructions to your customer on how to stack them. Mail carriers these days are not the most gentle when it comes to handling FRAGILE boxes
I was wondering if you can do one on a smash chocolate heart
Sure
@@jefeduh thank you I want to start my business doing those and I would like to ship too but I’m not sure how to package them
Thank you for sharing. I have a cake plastic container the ones used in the store. Do I freeze cake and wrap it and put in plastic container? Thank you again.
What buttercream do you use?
Why not packing peanuts?
Have you ever tried using ice packs?
Patrese Evans yes sometimes I use both dry ice and ice packs depending on how far it has to travel.
How long it will work?
will i need to freeze a praline pound cake ?
Regina Holmes yes
Hi good evening i am in the process of learning how to ship baked goods and i was wondering where can tou find dry ice ? Also to freeze the cake how long did it take and also have you ever had any bad reviews for how the cake tasted once received
I get my dry ice from Publix. Or Kroger here in Georgia. I freeze the cakes between 12-16hrs depending on the sizes. I haven’t had any bad reviews. I actually get repeat customers more through mail.
What type of shipping do you usually use? Like how long does it take & how much does it cost
Bri Chloe i use USPS priority mail. It takes 2days to get to the customer. Shipping usually costs $20
Blu Diamond thank you! Gonna try this next week. Just to make sure, if I have a one of those disposable plastic cake domes that cakes usually come in at stores, I don’t need to plastic wrap the cake, correct?
Bri Chloe sorry for the late response. Yes that's correct. But be sure to use plenty bubble wrap to secure the placement. Mail handlers aren't the most gentle people in the world. And be SURE to have the post office add the fragile sticker to the box. I may have forgot to add that to this video. Also glad I could be helpful. Be sure to share and subscribe!! HAPPY SHIPPING! 😊🍰
Do you have to inform USPS that there's dry ice in the box? Does this affect costs? Want to ship Frozen homemade cheesecakes. Thanks!
B Jenkins did you ever try shipping your cheesecakes? If so, what method did you choose?
I am surprised you didnt use styrofoam to hold cold in better. Also, If you use frozen gels packs you would need to seal them because they would leak.
Carl Hammill mine don’t leak at all.
How is the icing once it arrives?
Deuce and Nett Gambia I’ve had no complaints of any real damage. The writing on top is made from melting chocolate. I knew that wouldn’t travel well had I used regular icing to pipe
