I’ve built a replica of this mustang on GT7 and the tricky part is traction and suspension tuning. Nobody has given a weight of the car so it’s priced too much for what it is. I made a 1:17 on big willow, still over 7 minutes on the ring. The suspension is the issue for the ring. Edit: So after updating the car with the more recent info; changed models to GT350R, reduced weight, shifted car balance to 50/50, maxed out engine to 801hp/510tqs, heavily increased downforce, increased traction control, 1 lap of the ring, 7:02.631. With a little more practice I’m sure I can get it under 7 minutes so… ford is right on the cars performance. It’s the pricing I don’t agree with but. Enjoy!

I really do think this thing can get into the 6:40's time range. The Mercedes AMG GT Black Series is 730 hp and 3600 lbs. This Mustang will probably be around the same weight, 800 hp, wider front tires, and a ton of downforce. The Black Series got 6:43 on the ring, this Mustang will most likely be faster, only slower than the Mercedes AMG One.
Remember the GT3 RSis expensive and hard to get. If this is just as fast or even faster, more accessible and slightly cheaper, with that V8 sound and that supercharger wining, and that muscular mean look. I think they can nail it!
I used to always want a Porsche 911S. I'm now seventy one years old. I'd rather have that Mustang, now. I have a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria with around 139,000 miles, plus. "Bessie Velma" gets me around. However, if I win Power Ball, or Mega Millions, I'm buying an F-550 four door crew cab, long bed dually, with the Power Stroke diesel and four wheel drive. While it won't go as fast as than Mustang or Porsche, it will haul a whole lot more nice things than those two cars combined. If I should win Power Ball or Mega Millions, I'll also buy a seventh wheel camper/trailer. I'll have a truck than can pull that trailer. You won't be able to pull such a trailer with either the Mustang, or the Porsche; but those diesel pick-ups today, can go mighty fast. You'll need a Porsche, or a Mustang to out run such a truck.
I bought a 2018 Camry SE in January, 2021. Great car! 39+ mpg combined. 0-60 in a little less than 8 sec. Just turned 100K miles. Every day driver. People still ask me if it's new! The only thing I do not understand is why you have to compare the new GTD, with it's massively more powerful supercharged engine, against a less expensive (starting price), much less powerful, NA powered Porsche. Porsche needs a new GT2 RS to give this new Mustang some competition. If the GTD can reliably maintain that power level, none of it's current 'competition' will be able to compete with it.
The GT3 RS is a street version of Porsche GT3 racecar, and the GTD is a street version of their GT3 racecar, so it makes perfect sense to compare them. While horsepower is important, Porsche has already proven when it comes to track times, hp isn't priority.
The Mustang GTD is an amazing machine, they have really come close to a Porsche GT3 RS, which is an amazing feat, however, the Porsche is the benchmark, the gold standard, a true racing car for the street, and each iterating gets better than the previous one. Porsche has a racing series that has allowed it to develop these cars into the icon that it is. That said, the GTD is going to be a halo car but too little too late. The only thing that comes into my mind that truly can compete with a GT3 RS it is a Corvette Z06 which has been developed through the Corvette Daytona/LeMans program with obvious budget limitations, however its bang for the buc are obvious. I hope that Ford develops a GT4 (amateur/enthusiast) program so the car can get better. Not taking away from the car itself just the 300k is lot of money. Car looks great lot of great technology for sure but for 300k should be best of everything. If the GTD blows the doors off cars around the same amount of money its worth it. But say if the new ZR1 isnt just hype really going to be all wheel drive 900Hp and faster than the GTD and half the price. Well then its just a lot of money but everything else will be to i guess. You guys fooled. These cars
Aren't that fast on street tires
Great! Another Ford Mustang with 800+ HP at $300,000 price tag! Obviously its for the elite class so only a few will be produced, and only a few people will buy it. Great for strait line, but will suck on curves and handling as usual. If you want a real street legal race car, you cant go wrong with a Porsche. Its already been proven, the GT3 RS smoked the 2023 Z06 and its three years older than it. I love Mustangs - I have one - but they aren’t meant for the track unless you heavenly modify them. The only one I would buy to compete against all these German beast would be the GTO!
This is a superstang, not a fox body......do your homework.
@@thorfinsky1427 Do your homework! Its a f-ing Mustang dude! There is no homework to be done. Its steals parts from the GT, its not even unique in the sense that every part was specifically made for the car! Superstang! What a crock of crap and your eating it!🤣
It can olny go fast in a strait line; afterwards it becomes soup in the corners! Porsche GT3 RS, and BMW CLS rule, no gimmicks here!🤣
!
Porsche 500k? =pass
Run it at the nurb ,franco champs lasarthe lets see how you score
It probably has great performance, but to me it is very very ugly compared to European designs.
I think it looks killer, and I'm sure it's going to be stunning in person! But yes, it's in serious competition - especially in the looks department. The GT3 RS is pure sex lol.
I like it better in the looks department and I'm saying this as someone who likes the form quality of German design.
In speaking in design the 2020 Shelby GT500, 2016 Dodge Viper ACR, C8 ZO6, and Camaro ZL1 1LE look better than the boring gt3
Ford admits that looks are secondary to the primary project. They know it's not the most beautiful car.
Wonder why they went this route instead of going GT
Gt more 918. This is appropriate imo
$300k for a Mustang is just rediculous in my opinion. I love mustangs but I would never spend that kind of money for a Mustang. That kind of money I would Def rather get a lambo, Ferrari, or sumthing along those lines
@adida9in1 This isn't for the typical Mustang enthusiasts who would like to buy a 40-50k GT & supercharged it to run 10's. This is built as a rare track focus street version of their GT3 race car to compete with the best in the world and I'm glad they did it! You have to look at it from that perspective.
@adida9in1 you're not paying for the looks of the car, you're paying for the performance.
Go big or go home.. They want to win at LeMans
Lite weight car could be worth the price I know light weight cost money but don’t know the weight. Idk about supercharger either because of heat soak believe turbos would been better option.
Really think ford should of tried to at least keep price down to the GT3 rs msrp at $250k. Again time will tell if GTD is the ultimate track car its worth the money probably. To bad ill never be able to afford one though 😂. One thing i can say fords doing right is buying the GTD right from ford no dealer involved. Or price would be up to $500k after dealer greed. Hopefully somthing will be done about all this greed going on. Im old fashioned but at this point like to see dealers go out buy all cars direct from manufacturers. Just have service garages around to maintain or do service work.
Hey great video very well put together thanks for all the information and sharing.
Keep up the great work
Well said! Time will tell for sure!

Thank u.
both are amazing but at the end of the day its still a mustang.
I hear ya. People say the same thing about the civic Type R, Corvette Z06, ETC. But I can promise you it won't drive like any other Mustang...
You can promise? LOL @@johnnygt6039
That's why it's special and different, a super mustang...with the best materials and technology that super cars have...better than many...and completely made of carbon-titanium-magnesium. Yes, it's a Ford....a brand with more history....whether in terms of sport or as a construction company....with more awards and the most awarded
Awesome car but... 300k is just over priced. 150k tops. It's still a mustang.
I don't think the badge has anything to do with its price point. If it has the same or better technology as the Porsche, for example- the price point is accurate. Now, if it was basically a GT Mustang with some minor suspension upgrades, I'd agree with you. But where talking about a street version of their actual GT3 race car.
3 Hundred Thousand HUH?? WHAT MAKES THAT CAR WORTH 300,000. ?
Are you really that ignorant????
It starts at $300,000
Magnesium wheels are extra as well as couple other options.
The GTD has a long list of goods.
Too much
Are you kidding me. The c8 z06 has quicker lap times at NEVERA track in Europe than the new 2023 gt3 rs, and the 2018 gt2 rs. Also the c8 z06 set a quicker lap time at CTMP in Canada than a 2018 gt2 rs as well. The c8 z06 completely destroys the standard gt3 on every track it touches. C8 z06 competes with the gt3 rs, not the gt3.
Coming in hot! I appreciate you watching and commenting!
watch tracks with corners like hockenheim gp the standard gt3 is almost 4 seconds faster (gt3 1:45,8 vs c8 z06 1:49,1)

Z06 Z07 package competes with the RS. Non Z07 loses handily to the RS
I can't see buying a Mustang for $300k. IMO the Mustang is too long. The hood id too long and its difficult to see where the wheels are. Let's hope it doesnt break down like most FORDS.
Would you be able to buy ANY car at $300K ? If not, I think the question doesn't really apply to you. Alsoi - People who buy $300K actually take care of them. Have oil changes every 3k-5k miles instead of every 50k or 70k miles - when you do that you'll learn cars don't break down.
Most Fords break down ? Funny, as far as I know the Ford Mustangs Coyote V8 engine is known as one of the most robust and reliable engines ever made, super durable even while modified considering most of them have stock bottom ends and OEM parts while adding massive performance increase, best evidence is all the records they hold.
Actually, Ford wouldn't sell you a Mustang GTD, so you really don't need to worry about it.
