Hi, Does anyone know the song that was used on the culture show last thursday when Mark Kermode was at Cannes...it was an instrumental song...thanks :)
@villarreal20 ~ nah, it's just rapid synopsis in combination with a restless mind. i'd be curious to see how much sleep he gets, i imagine him having problems shutting down the thought process.
see lots of paul mason hate remember 1 paul worked hard got zizic on the bbc, and dispite his open radicalism he has to ask zizik questions he can't just say you are such a hero ...
yeah he is great, people just take him too literally or misuse his stuff as arguments for their shitty ideologies all the time. if your username indicates your age you should be proud of yourself bro, not many people listen to people like zizek at the age of 14. i highly recommend this movie about him /watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=U0jxclqEJD8, its a great start to understand him better.
Zizek is like a sort of unpretentious Baudrillard, who actually makes sense wheen you read him. As another unashamed Marxist I find his persona a nice break from the people who are frightened to state their views for fear of being marginalised, but imagine him being a media flash in the pan whether he likes it or not.
Zizek is someone who builds off of the philosophy of the 20th century and provokes to get his readers/listeners to think in different ways. (that's what the stalin thing is all about) you should probably get that, or at least should speak with people very familiar with his writing to publish anything about with any depth whatsoever
Thanks for the link, and you're right I'm fourteen :), I am a lot more politically interested than my friends, especially in Marxism and the russian revolution
Stopping on the very surface of his bombastic comments (his style is partially forced by the laws of the media today, he wouldn`t be heard otherwise) to draw conclusions is exactly what I would do if I was on the opposing (ie right ) side =)
If you don't like the 21st century adjust marxist Slavoj Zizek, you could try reading Das Kapital, it soothes along step by step of the capitalist way of producing our material goods, idea built on idea, clam and steady until you reach the end of the book and say "Communism must win".
The arrogance and almost racist approach where they play some vaguely "slavic" accordion folk music with and introduce Žižek as some sort of new-age hack who lectures on dozens of topics and is a totalitarian stalinist (although the segment is totally cut out of context), is so typically British. I cant imagine they would dare to use the same tactics for some intellectual from India or Asia. But the Balkans? Sure - ha ha, funny music starts.
fascinating. capitalists always talk about the free market, and how it leads to individual freedoms... but in the context of capitalisms reality, it's an obscene income disparity that has the majority begging for philanthropic gifts by the very few who control all the money.
The culture show missed a trick here, as they without a doubt should have had Mark Kermode interviewing Slavoj. Kermode like Zizek is a "Communist" and a film critic and has his own bumbling persona. The result would have been not so much an interview, more a range of tangents and humorous ones at that. Humour is something which Paul Mason utterly lacks.
with this sentence you destroyed him. especially when you said moron. please stop there, otherwise thousands years of philosophy will crumble and the world will lose its meaning. have mercy.
"So how did a bearded Slovene philosopher become world-famous...?" That's so rubbish. The presenters look and act like market traders, not cultural observers.
Zizek: the most quote-out-of-context vulnerable thinker of all time.
The end of the interview is fucking awesome!!!
This program really misunderstands what Zizek's all about.
A nice discussion between Zizek and Peterson about animated movies would be pleasant.
"The elvis of cultural theory" tag is utterly ridiculous.
Hi,
Does anyone know the song that was used on the culture show last thursday when Mark Kermode was at Cannes...it was an instrumental song...thanks :)
@andylimn what would an equivalent on the right look like? Examples?
Yeah, that Stalinist comment was taken wayyyy out of context. If you watch that documentary, Zizek was obviously being facetious.
Zizek is the Kung Fu Panda of philosophy
Then digital essential is always on koks?
How often does he use the phrase "ideology at its purest"
I love SLAVOJ ZIZEK
Why do they keep saying 'controversial'? What exactly is controversial about him?
hahaha it cracks me up to see Zizek at a junk yard partially discussing philosophy and partially commenting on old thrown out porn
What was his full quote and what was he talking about? Is he a stalinist?
@villarreal20 ~ nah, it's just rapid synopsis in combination with a restless mind. i'd be curious to see how much sleep he gets, i imagine him having problems shutting down the thought process.
Maybe the Mayans had a premonition of the movie 2012.
I love this guy. There is something very odd, yet amazing about him. I'm very glad he's not a stalinist.
Lol. All those clips of him taken out of context
see lots of paul mason hate remember 1 paul worked hard got zizic on the bbc, and dispite his open radicalism he has to ask zizik questions he can't just say you are such a hero ...
this guy...
See you either in hell or in communism! hahaha Brilliant :D

you got the most natural Guy Fawkes (Half)face ever :D

"i want a third pill" haha
"i want a therd pill"
@jeffgurdy you've got to understand a bit about zizek to get the joke
Stopping on the very surface of his bombastic comments (his style is partially forced by the laws of the media today, he wouldn`t be heard otherwise) to draw conclusions is exactly what I would do if I was on the opposing (ie right ) side =)
nono, you misunderstand him: he thinks it's necessary to be evil and therefore love.
oh slavoj
LOL This is a funny ending, and he is very right. "Communism will win"
Thanks....*BOOM!*....
0:59 cocaine?

WTF @ 4:25-4:27?
@Aaaarchangel He says:"If you are a right-winger you will say: but they are the same".
"See you in hell...or in communism!"
Slavoj Zizek = BAD ASS

Zizek is one of the world's greatest bullshitter, right up there with Rasputin.
the dumbing dumbing dumbing down show
See you in hell or communism. The best line ever.
BUT THEY ARE THE SAME !!!!!!!!! :P :P
It is shitty, but, mainstream TV though, at least they show him at all.

The Culture Show is a dumbed down show. Explain everything in simple terms....
yeah that almost caused me to stop watching this
"I think hes a disgusting creep"
Bbh
he shouldn't wear orange, it makes him looks like a prisoner. Just saying.
with this sentence you destroyed him.
especially when you said moron.
please stop there, otherwise thousands years of philosophy will crumble and the world will lose its meaning. have mercy.
ZIzek was dying to provoke an angry response in his final childish comment, and when he didn't get it he was reduced to saying it himself.
Hey, just checking in 10 years later. You still mad about this or have you moved on?
"So how did a bearded Slovene philosopher become world-famous...?" That's so rubbish. The presenters look and act like market traders, not cultural observers.
Don't love Zizek, he thinks it's evil to love.
2a7la jajook
Zizek is Zizek. Interviewer is lame.
Totally thirdpilled
