I live in the northeast. It’s been my experience during power outages that up to 3 days is a nuisance. The beautiful people start losing their composure day 4 or 5. They want someone’s head on a stake at that point. I am the only person with a generator and solar panels on the rear of my home in my neighborhood.
I also live in the northeast. A few years back we had some ice storms that knocked power out for my home for about 4 days. Our daughter was in college at the time. She and I drove to Mass from NH because our son's complex had power. A hot meal, a hot shower, her term paper on that first night and the next day our power at home was back on. We have a wood stove so our home was warm and my husband kept an eye on things. We put all our food in huge cooler son the back deck and lost very little but further up north, those folks had no power until just after Chrismas. You are right. People started freaking out over the inconvenience of having no power and not knowing how to live without it. We are in for a world of hurt!
One thing I never see discussed on any of these channels is instruction how to build a wood gasifier that can fuel a generator. My family runs a sawmill and we use a gasifier to heat a big pole building. Why is this option not discussed?
veggie garden planted. we continue to prep. and update items. I have used my Jackery mini to watch TV an run fan during 2 recent black outs. (only 3-4 hrs.) we have water stored to use before we can get wells hooked up to gen. grid down will be tough but we have survived many days from ice or hurricane. think about toilets. water. 1st aid. cleaning and bathing. security. bless all. prep on.

Great channel thanks JR I think that when and of the end is going to be a lot worse than most people will be expecting can most people shoot someone for stealing a chicken or tresspassing looking for food and supplies that that own. A mistake that I have made in the past but not no more when they said I'm coming to your house when something happens cut them right off and say that's not a good idea or I already have my team set. It is about us and not them. Prepare now rotate your food stock know how to love off the land and cook. Stay safe and watch out for the boogie man.
Good points and this kinda points to the futility (for lack of a better word) of stockpiling anything: It's a finite, non-renewable resource. In the event of a total collapse civilization will essentially restart and I don't think anyone is REALLY prepared for that.
Anyone ever read the novel Alas, Babylon? Written in the late 50's. It's a nuclear war story, things pretty much collapse, and the story focuses on how one town works at getting by. First story I ever read of this genre. One woman, mother of a main character, dies early on as she is diabetic and her insulin spoils without electricity to keep it cool. I don't know how meds have changed since then, but that scared me.
A trailer with a generator, water pump and water tank on it will be vital since it can be taken to collect water from clean sources, used for fire-fighting and taken to sites where welding jobs are required. With a bit of foresight the trailer can be designed to hitch to an animal-drawn harness.
You wanna see how a modern society would devolve into a local survival scenario just look into how Sarajevo survived after it was surrounded and cut off for one full year during the Yugoslavian civil war in the 1990s. How people improvised to survive sniper fire just to get water and their neighbors turned on them and murdered them for a bad of sugar or lighter fluid.
@@ronnieettienne6335 yes I heard awful stories too including that some civilian police officers called in and didn’t report for duty. Instead they chose to stay home and protect their families instead. When push vibes to shove even police officers will look after the survival of their own families first before patrolling a violent city and protect others. That’s why I wouldn’t rely on the police or anyone else to protect me or my family. It’s up to us to really protect ourselves if society collapses.
Hi, this is the 1st time I watched you. Thank you very much for this video, because I have friends that "try" to prepare, however, they can't think as deep as what you are cover. Example, I have friends that say, "I have a gas generator, so I'm good". They don't understand that no power, no gas! No power, no water and sewer. You covered it, sir. One ADDITION to think about is 'sewer back-up" . I have Cherne plugs or pipe plugs to stop the sewer from backing up into your home. People should have plugs from #1. main sewer drain, #2. Showers, #3. Toilets, #4 tubs and overflow, #5 Toilets. This should cover backup. If people have a little money, think about doubling this for an unfortunate neighbor. Thank you again. This is a great video! ❤
This is a scary scenario for me as I live among liberal zombies in the state of Rhode Island. Most liberals don’t prep so it will be utter chaos. 😳 I’m adding ornate iron window bars to my house for extra protection. Do you think gvt will come to our doors to confiscate our supplies? I live in a small space so I’m not able to hide much. I never answer my door so I’d be too scared to open it to gvt officials especially since some people might pose as gvt officials. God help us! Excellent video, as usual!
I am not a home owner. But I hear you need to have a set of bars prepared for a emergency fire scenario. Front door might be unaccessible. So u need to b able to remove a set of windows irons from the inside. Or your home has two doors. Bars are excellent tho
@@jamisonbernhardt3310 Yes, good point! I am having one big one that I’ll be able to pop open. I have three other exits close in proximity too as my house is small.

@@SR-zg1pk Already locally - even in not rough areas of London - schoolkids are looting shops in large groups, and of course there are stabbings between teenagers almost every day. The roads are getting more and more potholes. Maybe my perspective is skewed because I moved back to the UK 4 years ago after living 10 years in the Netherlands so yes it does look more run down and less well maintained in most cities in the UK anyway compared to NL. We're definitely in slow decline.
@@simonh6371 I'm not following the Ukraine War very closely, I didn't know if it spilled over into other countries...I'm n9t sure of any of this but it seems like we are All headed towards a grid down.
@@Joseph-vm3sp Tbh I'm not following it closely either, neither side are stupid enough to give away tactical information by telling us what's really happening. However trust me if it did spill over you'd already know as apart from Belarus (a Russian ally) and obviously Russia itself, it's bordered by NATO countries, so we'd already be at war if it spilled over into one of those. But Putin isn't going to do that obviously. As to where we're headed, I've been prepped for grid down for years now. Prepper channels in the UK have warned of this but it didn't happen this past winter. In Germany & Austria the msm warned of the possibility and for years now their govts have advised people to prep for a few days without food and power etc. Back to asking where things are headed, I've heard it said by white Africans (can't remember if it was SA or ZIm) that the first sign of decline is potholes in the roads and there are plenty here in London. When I lived in SA 20 years ago there were power outages during storms. Now their infrastructure is so overstretched they have something called ''load shedding'' which is rolling power blackouts, so every day the electricity goes off for 6 hours at different times depending upon the region. That's where I'd say we're headed rather than a sudden blackout lasting days, the authorities know that that would result in large scale rioting and looting.
According to people that repair small engines stabilizers not really going to help because gasoline absorbs moisture. Six months as the pretty much standard Time for storage. 😢
I started prepping a few years ago nothing on the large scale just 3-6 months worth of food and medicine water and then I watch videos like this and over time I realize I don’t think I would want to survive this kind of ordeal on a long term for some bullets and once the 3-6 months runs out I’m taking myself out. Growing stuff is not an option for me and I’m not going to survive a total collapse past 6 months either way….neither will over fifty percent of society. If not more….so not to sound like a Abby downer but realistically it will be over for most of us so live everyday like it’s your last hug your family and enjoy what you can now because tomorrow is not promised to anyone
Gardening is good way of providing or supplementing one’s food supply; however, a lot of people live in HOA/POA communities where gardens are not permitted. I'm still watching this but I just had a couple quick critiques one of which was based on another prepping channels analysis of communications networks that would remain after a grid down situation. That would be the fact that this individual and myself think that a lot of ham radio repeaters would not remain up for that long because they're going to require power generation and you have to be certain that these repeaters are run privately are all going to have long-standing power generation to be able to keep these repeaters up and running. My second critique was the mention of raising small game animals for meat and the mention of rabbits and chickens came up. I just wanted to mention the rabbit protein issue because this is something that I've known about for a while and it's actually something was known about during the days of the settlers and that would be that you cannot really survive long-term on rabbit meat because rabbit meat is not bioavailable as a protein source to humans that well meaning for every amount let's say a pound of rabbit meat that you consume you're only going to be able to absorb a very small percentage of that as actual protein because it's just not amenable to human biology versus other carnivores like dogs or cats. This is something that used to be called rabbit fever where people that were trying to subsist on rabbit need a loan would eventually succumb to protein deficiency and start to have some very severe health problems including confusion and some cognitive issues as well as other problems with the body like your body being forced to engage in glycation which is taking protein to turn it into sugar there by robbing your body's protein and muscle mass of valuable connective tissue.
If you want to see how a total collapse looks now in present day you could find any info on Mogadishu Somalia. I was deployed there in 92-93 it isn't pretty. The city was run by a warlord. Neighborhoods by sub appointees and people did not cross into the others. They used to be more modern and I believe to this day they are still in a 3rd world status, 30 years later. It could be quite a long haul.
I would love to know about this as well. I have tried researching solar, but I am clueless..to many choices, to confusing...so expensive.. I know gas generators are loud.. :(
There are many possible scenarios causing breakdowns of the modern world. We're more vulnerable because of reliance on technology as well as natural phenomenon from solar storms, asteroids and volcanic eruptions.
In a total society break down, only the Amish and some other very rural communities might survive. A Bad Pandemic is the only thing that could end civilization. A big nuclear war is not going to happen. I enjoyed your show.
Food for thought ! I learnt a few things I didn’t know! Good advice! I believe 2024 is going to every much increase the probability of a near or total collapse of our infrastructure! Now is the time to prepare . The old saying is so apropos,” better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it!”. Now , I’m sure most of you that I’m sending this are doing just that ,preparing ! , but I think a few are thinking , “ Na! Not going to happen !” Well , hopefully your right ! But things are looking like the world economy is headed to a total collapse, we’ve seen how here in the US things got with the election in 2020 and the plandemic , it put many crazies at work destroying communities! So think about this if you haven’t ! Get ready!
Don't forget jails & prisons will fail also, with ~2 million prisoners nationwide being released virtually simultaneously, depending upon the speed of collapse.
Some counties in Texas are already corrupt so a collapse would just make things much worse. I was in jail after I broke up with my ex-boyfriend and tried to leave the property that he and his friends were holding me hostage at and I was arrested for just holding a knife to deter the people who were abusing me and were trying to kill me and I got arrested and none of them did. They only have statements from the three of the people who were abusing me and holding me against my will and that's it but I'm still going to be sentenced to 5 years of prison with a first degree felony conviction against me unless by some miracle something else happens. My attorney kept trying to get the sentence reduced since they have absolutely no evidence to convict me and the DA won't allow me to have a trial, which is completely against federal law and is unconstitutional. Yet when the UNITED STATES District Attorney looked into the corruption of the county, they stepped back and said "Nope, no way. I'm not dealing with this." Which just shows how corrupt the legal system is in the entire country. I have been diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Median Acruate Ligament Syndrome (which I have to have surgery for), several TBIs, binocular vision syndrome, an inner ear disorder, and PTSD from the physical injuries that I sustained from my ex and his friends who accused me of a crime that never happened after I decided to break up with my ex-boyfriend and leave the property. I have a lot of medical issues because of them yet the county refuses to press charges against them even though I have documentation from my doctors on when the trauma started, what the diagnosis's are, and how I'm unable to work, walk for more than 5 minutes, and stand for more than 15 minutes before my autonomic nervous system starts to shut down and before my brain starts to flood (become overstimulated) to the point that I lose consciousness and can die.
Wow Emma, I am so sorry for what happened and is happening to you. I will have you in my prayers tonight. I know they are just words but I am at a loss for anything else to say......keep your chin up and your eyes up too..With all my love, Alisha💪🙏
If were talking massive long term power loss, we'll have a bigger problem. Many toxic chemicals are überrefrigerated as a gas. As the back up generators run dry, the refrigeration stops. As the gasses warm , they expand and are released by pressure valves to protect the tanks from rupturing. Think about millions of tanks venting chemicals like phosgene & chlorine at the same time. Wouldnt want to be downwind of those clouds. The same for the spent fuel rod cooling pools at nuclear power plants. The water in these pools is refrigerated and circulated. Again, when the back up generators run dry, it stops. The water begins heating up. Eventually, it will boil off. Once the spent fuel rods are exposed they can burn releasing terribly radioactive smoke. Image hundreds of Chernobyl 's.

Thank you, JR for more great information. I'm still working on my preps, garden, and other necessities. 👍
I have some gasoline stored but didn't know I needed stabilizer, thanks JR for the info.
Store stabilized PREMIUM 93 if you can get it. Lasts longer with more octane.
One thing I never see discussed on any of these channels is instruction how to build a wood gasifier that can fuel a generator. My family runs a sawmill and we use a gasifier to heat a big pole building. Why is this option not discussed?
The vast majority of people do not have the resources to reliably generate wood-gas.
You're such a blessing JR. Thank you for your insightful information 😁😬
THANK YOU!!! GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR HARD WORK!!!
Thank you for being concise & not dramatically alarming. Great food for thought!
veggie garden planted. we continue to prep. and update items.
I have used my Jackery mini to watch TV an run fan during 2 recent black outs. (only 3-4 hrs.) we have water stored to use before we can get wells hooked up to gen. grid down will be tough but we have survived many days from ice or hurricane. think about toilets. water. 1st aid. cleaning and bathing. security. bless all. prep on.
One of the most sought-after skills will be that of traditional blacksmith that can fashion things from metal, repair things, manufacture weapons and even shod horses.

Thanks for another great video! You always have good reminders and practical ideas, which are much-appreciated.
Great channel thanks JR I think that when and of the end is going to be a lot worse than most people will be expecting can most people shoot someone for stealing a chicken or tresspassing looking for food and supplies that that own. As a prepper one of the hard things is people seeing what you have stored up or the temptation to show off a item to others. A mistake that I have made in the past but not no more when they said I'm coming to your house when something happens cut them right off and say that's not a good idea or I already have my team set. It is about us and not them. Prepare now rotate your food stock know how to love off the land and cook. Stay safe and watch out for the boogie man.

"political slap fighting" literally made me laugh out loud - such an accurate description.
Unfortunate Reality! 😟
I have experimented with solar lights for a short term outtage
Concise and well-done.
They haven't changed at all and that book was one of the best reads ever.
Excellent, well balanced analysis.
A trailer with a generator, water pump and water tank on it will be vital since it can be taken to collect water from clean sources, used for fire-fighting and taken to sites where welding jobs are required. With a bit of foresight the trailer can be designed to hitch to an animal-drawn harness.
A bicycle is probably worth it's weight in gold...and stolen often.
Hurricane Katrina,I was with the 82nd airborne and then an mp in the army reserves and heard first hand horror stories, thing got grim fast.
@@CatsAreNiceMeow sounds good. Whenever I hear bars I always remember what people say about emergency exits. However your home sounds ideal for your plan. Very smart move. I think bars look nice.

Yes, corrupt government officials and impersonators will show up and attempt to steal all your supplies. Not constitutional at all. Greet them with copious amounts of hot lead, if you want to survive.
Very interesting video. The theory goes: two weeks without Electricity the world would be back in the dark ages!
In Jesus name I come against any collapse in this countries financial area.

"Charging Centers".cause there ain't no electricity at home..coming to a town near you..I live on a Bicycle & Backpack, exercising, watching,Charging my phone in a park/library and travel Central Florida ☝️
What is a euro war area, apart from Ukraine? I live in Europe and want to know where there is a war here that nobody knows about. Please enlighten me.
@@simonh6371 what do u see going down in the uk?
@@SR-zg1pk Already locally - even in not rough areas of London - schoolkids are looting shops in large groups, and of course there are stabbings between teenagers almost every day. The roads are getting more and more potholes. Maybe my perspective is skewed because I moved back to the UK 4 years ago after living 10 years in the Netherlands so yes it does look more run down and less well maintained in most cities in the UK anyway compared to NL. We're definitely in slow decline.
@@simonh6371
I'm not following the Ukraine War very closely, I didn't know if it spilled over into other countries...I'm n9t sure of any of this but it seems like we are All headed towards a grid down.

Good stuff. Thank you!
Good assessment... Have contingency plans in place for yourself and your family.
well done great list
Run a generator intermittently only as needed.
One thing you gotta remember you gotta pick out a spot like a landfill that has a lot of methane gas it’s that methane gas
Gardening is good way of providing or supplementing one’s food supply; however, a lot of people live in HOA/POA communities where gardens are not permitted. Post-collapse it would be no problem; but gardens should be started pre-collapse. Is there a practical alternative for HOA or apartment dwellers?

Yup!
Yo I got one of those streamlight lamps, pretty sick little devices
Looks like Portland.
Coins will always have a type of value, even if only for the different metals. Nickels are made of nickel, older penny's copper.
Can you recommend a quiet generator to run a refrigerator. Thank you
I would love to know about this as well.

Amazing that the gas company does not have "gas" powered generators to keep everything going if no power.
Isolated instances happen all the time, but I honestly don't think widespread, long term destabilization will occur in our lifetime.
Sound like a real peach. Maybe stay off the meth and seek professional psychiatric care.
When disaster hits stay out of the city
While everything you said is true, that big picture scenario is pretty bleak!
