A couple of things I learned during Snowpocolyps 2021 here in north Texas. Large Gensets are nice but are very thirsty and will use a crap load of fuel! A more modest sized 3500-4500 watt generator will still run a lot and recharge your Power Station on a couple of gallons a day with a couple of hours of run time. Solar panels suck in a winter snow or ice storm which is when your probably gonna loose power more times than not. As a result of lessons learned, I now keep on stand by a Pecron 3600+600 watts of solar along with a Predator 4550 generator+ gas. Another thing I learned...a large Crockpot on low will heat water for a constant source of water and will even allow you to pour cans of soup in a mason jar for hot meals and uses a paltry 10 watts or so doing it! I also like keeping two totes in my trucks back cab. One has road side emergency gear that will hopefully allow me to make minor repairs and limp home. The other tote has by Go Bag in it to hide from prying eyes.
I agree with everything laid forth in this presentation. Rest assured that when the need arrives, you will be happy you bought and have used the devices shown. Make certain to use them all so you are familiar with each.
Having a battery back up to complement my generator was crucial during Helene. My ECOFLOW Delta Max 2 ran two refrigerators for 11 hrs and only one hour to recharge on generator.
Rural coastal TX here. We skated by the Ercot thing with just a 3Kw gas generator. Fortunately, we had enough propane to keep warm enough, and no pipe burst. Then, directly hit by hurricane Beryl, no power for 8 days. Intermittent power after for 3 days. Kids, close family, farm animals, and finances kept us in place. We used two Ecoflow Delta 2s to keep life going. Supplemental gas generators in the day for fridges, AC window units, and recharge the ecoflows. Water well is 220v so I ran my larger gas generator on it only when needed. Since then, I've added a 2K of solar to the barn and a 5Kwh of battery. Enough to get us by except the 220v well. I need a better inverter for that monster pump motor. We ended up being a haven for a lot of our family. That's when we started getting into our food preps. I'll always have an above ground pool that runs on 110v during hurricane season. Our farm house of 4 humans became 21 people. Mostly little humans too.
I do the same with air compressor for my diesel truck. I have a regular compressor that’s not 12v and run it off my built in inverter. Definitely cuts down on my fill up times since my tires are supposed to be 65-80psi. Have had several 12v compressors fail.
Those jump starter packs are the nuts and I've used mine a couple of times now. Flat batteries can be a common thing on camping trips especially with kids if doors of cars get left open or whatever. Good idea about using them occasionally as mine tends to sit in my vehicle and only get charged every now and again.
Great tips. I like seeing different influencers talk about these subjects of both home and away preparation. Couple other items in bags would deck of cards and maybe dice.
Not the best option but a good one. Truckers still use them and its a good way to get road conditions of storm condition up dates from them and they can tell you where they are delivering a load of food or fuel so you can be first in line! Just a thought...
JR , thank you for your Survivalist Series ! I always carry a small get home bag as water, rain coat, mini shelter with emergency sleeping bag and water and fire assistance with mosquito repellent! Security is also a must ! Lone Bear !
I'd say some type of hand lotion in a small leakproof bottle and probably chap stick in that bug out bag., 12:12 not sure what the zip lock bag contained , was it cotton balls or a white powdery substance (coffee creamer?) in that case also pack a small straw like coffee stir.
Great Video.. Just to expand a bit on the communication subject. GRMS radios and HAM radio hand held radios have close to the same range. HAM radios have the ability to access repeaters that rebroadcast your signal to much longer distances. GRMS radios also have the availability but much more limited. A subject you may want to address is the use of a WIFI HOT SPOT. It is a unit that will connect to whatever is the WIFI service that is available, unlike those HOT SPOTS that are dedicated to a service ie ATT, VERIZON whatever. As a licensed HAM I can communicate around the world on my computer without a radio. HAM radio is a GREAT way to go.
That's a good idea! If we do that it would need to be after the first of the year. Thanksgiving to New Year is like an elephant shoved into a tube sock. lol
@@diypreppertv For sure. Whilst many will disagree I love the fact that it's not really a consideration here in Australia although if you want to jump through the hoops you can get them.
My husband grabbed one, I just wish they would've included a solar connection with it too. We've tried it out on a couple things already. It was a good sale, enough savings to where he said he'd get us one. We now need some more solar panels and solar cords to go with it.
A couple thoughts, amazing video. Within a month of me purchasing a crank radio I was using it to stay updated about the storms that were coming through my area. Also, I’d like to have bonfires so having a portable solar generator/power bank is really nice if you wanna run a radio. Finally whatcha got against cards against humanity.
Great insights! It's so true that prepping isn't just about gear; it's about practicality and resilience in daily life. A question for the peeps on the comments. Which one item do you think is essential for both emergencies and everyday use?

As always, JR, great info! I've bought several of the items you've suggested, and like this video for a more scaled down selection. Thank you!

I love mine; I've even used it to start my gas generator when it's starter battery died. Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel. Lots of great information on here. Really appreciate that you openly talk about your faith. 🙏

I keep a bugout bag and spare hiking boots at home AND in my car
Hi JR.
Would you be interested per chance in doing a live to discuss the difference in prepping in the uk vrs us ?
That's a good idea! If we do that it would need to be after the first of the year. Thanksgiving to New Year is like an elephant shoved into a tube sock. lol
I can think of one big difference right off the bat.
Me too. That one alone could take up most of the video if we’re not careful.
@@diypreppertv For sure.
Whilst many will disagree I love the fact that it's not really a consideration here in Australia although if you want to jump through the hoops you can get them.
@diypreppertv I can work around your calendar buddy.
Just let me know when suits.
It would be great to see the difference ways folks prep
Thanks JR. 😃
Informative, thanks.
I use my car as a bug out bag. If I am home or not home the car is likely with me.
Thanks for sharing JR. Following your link I saw that the price on the Delta 2 at $399 is fantastic.
Thanks for watching! This is a very good sale that they're running right now.

BUY a copper distilled for purifying water, and copper mugs for the family. Heated by electricity.
last 70 years.
Grow fruit trees that grow great in that area, same with plants.
I heard you gotta be careful about copper being toxic and digested tho. Is that true?
