    Check your trackpad position before re-attaching the bottom of your computer! I was so disappointed that my trackpad stopped clicking after replacing the battery. When I noticed that it was off center in its opening, I removed the bottom of the laptop, loosened the trackpad screws, repositioned the trackpad to be in the center of the opening, tightened the screws again and tested it before reattaching the bottom of the computer. Everything is working perfectly now. I just wish I'd have known to check the trackpad first. Thank you for your very informative video. Saved me a couple hundred dollars!

    Never having done anything like this before, I put off this task for about a year, and finally yesterday morning I ran out of excuses
    and with great trepidation I sat down to begin. Two hours later the task was finished and for the first time in over a year I could use my macbook on battery power again. All down to this most detailed video.... well done to all concerned and a million thanks.

    I used these steps with excellent results. Bought a battery off Amz for about $50 and have battery power working on my macbook pro again. One additional thought…no explanation is offered as to why you need to remove the trackpad. Having done it, I could see that if you leave the trackpad in place you are at risk of damaging it when you use the plastic scraper to lift the center battery. There are chips on the trackpad that you could easily damage while trying to get the center battery free. Removing the trackpad eliminates that risk. Also, on mine there were three different screw lengths holding on the bottom cover. Thus, pay careful attention to what screws come out of which holes.
    Thanks for the excellent video.

    For everyone, pay special attention to the flex data cable of the trackpad..I just did the battery replacement myself and somehow damaged the cable, resulting in a big mess (trackpad+keyboard not working, fan always on, super slow computer in general). I had to have it repair by professionals then

    Hey, thanks for the step-by-step. Unfortunately, the speaker on the right side doesn't work anymore. Do you have any idea what I did wrong or what I might have damaged?
    I would be grateful for any tips on how to determine if I can fix it or if it's beyond repair.
    Cheers !

    However, how long should it take until it's turning back on? Mine doesn't seem to turn back on.

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  Рік тому

      The Computer should turn on right away. The only thing that might cause it to not turn on immediately would be if the battery needed to be charged. Try charging the battery and see if that solves the issue.

    Awesome video! Would very much like to give it a try. But not yet entirely sure this would be the right video and/or NuPower Battery for my MacBook Pro. I have the MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports). And processor 2,3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5. Thanks in advance!

    Can anyone tell me "roughly" how many hours their replacement battery lasts from a single charge? I am thinking typical internet, email, document editing use... with no demanding power usage. I am trying to determine if I should replace my original battery now, or wait until it has more cycles on it (it is running at about 70% capacity now). Thanks.

    Are there any long term usage comment of the battery ?

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  2 місяці тому

      I apologize, we can not speak on how long exactly the battery will last as that depends on several factors.

    I just replaced my battery but my ‘System Settings’ looks different so I am trying to figure out how to calibrate my battery. I am on Ventura 13.6.5. Any help would greatly appreciated.

      @poweredbyowc  4 місяці тому

      Here is our help page for calibrating the battery. In the OS menu, you are looking for just the Battery options which should be located under Battery, and at the bottom a button that says options. www.newertech.com/batteries/power-calibration-guide/

    How do you know it’s charged 100% if the Macbook is off? Only way I can think of is turn it on to check 🤷🏽‍♂️

      Regrettably, There isn't another way to determine if it's 100% charged without turning the Mac on.

    Hi. my kit came without adhesive remover. Is that correct?

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  2 роки тому

      Hello Sergio, it should have come with adhesive remover, but it depends on where we are shipping to. Outside of the United States we aren't able to ship acetone for instance which is usually what we use with our batteries. If this is not the case please reach out to us at support@owc.com and we'll get some adhesive sent to you right away!

    I have 2 a1708 MacBook pro's, one is completely dead with a good oem battery, the other is working great but has a battery that has over 1350 cycles and is going bad. does anyone know if transplanting the battery from one a1708 to another if careful to damage the cell is a bad idea?

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  2 роки тому +1

      While it is not recommended, you could do the transplant, reset the SMC, and condition the battery and it may work. However again I would recommend using a fresh/new battery as this would probably be the best for that Mac. Hope this info helps.

    Hello, is it possible to replace the battery of "MacBook Pro 13-inch (late 2016 - mid 2017 non-Touch Bar)" with a battery from "2020 M1 MacBook Pro 13 A2337" ?

    Will the battery be ok if I turned on before it reached 100% charge?

    • @poweredbyowc

      We recommend completing the calibration for the battery. The battery, however, should be fine if you turned it on before it hit 100%.
