i remember when they came to chicago...was SO freakin thrilled!!! AND i was at the show when mel c came here for her northern star tour in 2001 (april). front row... i touched her leg and she bent down and sang to me... AND i gave her my welcome to chicago sign.

Gerri had said she had given the girls notice, and wouldn't be continuing the tour with them. But the girls refute that. I love Gerri, but I really don't believe her. How can you just up and leave the biggest girl band in the world, and yet, the remaining others are still reeling from your departure? I was at their 1998 Tacoma,WA concert, and it was so depressing with no Gerri. The concert still rocked. I just wish she would of been there. It was epic.
Geri's admitted she never told them. She left and then she told them she wasn't coming back

When Geri left the group, Incredible who takes her "place" like a leader was Mel C and she felt the same that geri: depression, pressure, all the media garbage and obvs her eating disorders.
That so strange and awesome that at 22:00 this is filmed at the 'Tweeter Center' (which its now called) in Tinley Park where I lived for 3.5 years (and saw many concerts at.. including my first concert).

... Goddess Melanie C could have been a natural born leader... energy, hyper-motivation, charisma. Possibly the most powerful voice, with wide range variety and unrivalled high pitches when needed.
Here perhaps at her very best, and what a slim yet muscled body - looks like smoothed marble. Impressive.
Yeah, she's brilliant. She has that beautiful ability of knowing when to talk and knowing when to shut up. Geri and Mel B are cool but they can be incredibly annoying most of the time.
its crazy that when victoria and mel c are walking down the street , its like they are commoners cause no one seems to notice who they are.

0:05 sort of says it all, I Always knew Geri felt like she didn't fit in anymore cause the other four had more confidence in their performing (and around that time that was nr 1 with the tour and all) Geri was more about the PR for 2 years and then the tour started and she faded...
like Mel B said, i think it's deeper than that. she was depressed and had been for many years especially after her father died, was bulimic, and she didn't address any of that until she left the group. I'm sure fame just made her insecurities and fears worse for her.

Well, I found that Mel B was pretty annoying at this time... I don't like the way she talks about Geri like she was better or something... Both of them were the same, two of the Spice Girls... And yes! Maybe Geri was not the best dancer/singer but I don't think Mel B was amazing either! Besides, we can see Mel C working hard here but Mel B does nothing but complain...

No she was referring to the comments they made in the past about Geri, Mostly the press and at the time thy were upset with Geri leaving too early not as the agreement . They still loved her, just did not understand out of nowhere why she left without a reason and look they got back together.
Geri left because she was an egomaniac and a bit of a control freak. The tour part was her weakest point whereas the PR and the girl power message was her forte. The machine-like aspect of the tour made her feel redundant, she didn't know how to unpack those feelings and her character flaws so out of nowhere she left. She herself said in the 2019 tour she was just being a brat! She was but despite that she was the driving force of the band she just let her ego get the better of her.
