Yes IF you can actually perform the art of peeing during cycling. It’s a mental thing….
🎶🎵"Let it go, let it go..."🎶🎵
I too have recently been dealing with an injury and haven’t been able to run for 3 months. Instead, I have been focussed on cycling, swimming, and weights. I have set a goal of taking a number of local Strava KOMs for a mental health goal/focus and have really been enjoying it. I look forward to running again though, hopefully soon!
That was hilarious yet informative.
13:43 it’s purely because those boys are smashing it and the P5 rider isn’t. It happens on every group ride and everyone remains adamant they’re “strictly zone 2” while coughing up blood 😂
I'd tend to be half asleep in morning races :) Evening races are totally fine :)
4:09, It's unfortunate that drafting, riding in groups, "sharing the load" has become normalized in non-draft-legal triathlons. Mark's words were said without a second thought.
If you ride legally at 12m you still benefit from the draft. Therefore groups will legally work together to share the load and pull back time/put time in. This is nothing new. The top athletes have done this since day 1 of triathlon. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Large groups at just a few metres apart from one another is a totally different subject - don’t put me in that category, thank you
This is so nasty. There's no need to do it in anything up to a half ironman, and at that point just take a 30s pee break, it's not gonna be the difference between you and Kona mate.
Pee during the swim: fine.
Pee during the bike or run without at least going off course to a bush: you are actually disgusting
I understand pros doing it because small margins etc, but random mid-pack age groupers pissing all over their bikes and then bringing them into the shop to be cleaned & serviced is why triathlon has such a bad name
Yes. On the bike leg, once during a half, and twice during a full. If you don't have to pee, you may be dehydrated. I even pee during the run if needed. Just wash everything afterward. And peeing is common in a wetsuit. Cold water, water pressure, and pressure from the wetsuit can cause peeing. Blood is pushed into the core, and a body needs to get rid of the excess fluid.
Peeing all over yourself? In your shoes? WTF. What can't you just stop and do it?
In a trisuite ? That wil cost to mutch time
suggestion for beer mile. don't drink from the bottle / can. run with a foldable cup and pour the beer in from a height as it will force the beer to produce a huge gassy top head which contains most of the CO2. you can get ride of the foam and the drink ittself should be easier on the stomach
Haha good idea. The serious beer mile folk won't let you do that sadly 🤣
If you were saying to just use flat beer then fine, but you're actually saying just drink about half the beer
Rain or no rain, purely disgusting to pee while biking... what?, pros are doing it? I might understand to pee during the swim (very hard to do), but on your bike? just not sure about this...
On the upside, it means that the toilets in transition are available for the rest of us.
You just "let it go, let it go...🎵🎶":)
Do they not have Athena and Clydesdale categories in the UK? I think every race I've done here in Australia, apart from a tiny one (where my age group had just 3 men!) has had those. I've only seen Athenas be 80+, but I've seen Clydesdale sometimes have a 90-99 and 100+ category. Was great for one of my mates whose main sport is rugby union!
Nope, I've been doing triathlon for 20+years and I've never heard of it until this video
What I'm hearing from Ivan is that he would like to blame his P5 for poor climbing.
I don't get group rides often; last one I did I stayed with the A group for a good while, dropping them on climbs, being dropped on descents, and being reeled back on flats..so the opposite. Then I bonked because I wasn't fueling well enough.
This is with a bike which weighed at least 6kg more, downtube shifters, aero penalties, and wide tires. Just saying...it ain't your bike which is to blame.
Tylko sikobidony!
I disagree with the hill comment on TT bikes. I can climb a fair bit faster on my road bike than on my TT bike. Overall full ride average speed is higher on my TT/Tri bike but hills are definitely faster on the road bike. (Obviously not 1%, but 6-7% or more, the TT bike is definitely a limiter).
I don’t disagree with you, but his question was for 1%. He still shouldn’t be getting dropped on steeper gradients if he is fitter than the others really. The bike will become the limiter, but shouldn’t result in him being dropped
Be aware that urinating can be an offense, worst case leading to disqualification when seen by an official (happened to someone I know) - Save your race and dignity and use the toilets if you're not a pro!
/there are two types of triathletes: Those who pee during any leg of the tri, and those who lie about it.
I was going to say that I’ve never pee’d during a tri & technically that’s accurate, I normally pee in my wetsuit once I get in the lake before the start! 😂
@@JonathanSmith87 in the wetsuit doesn't count. That's perfectly normal behaviour. 😅
@@AndrewShakespeare 😂
The beer mile… wow. Humans are weird.
I give you chess-boxing.
@@AndrewShakespeare😂
No, this should not even be a question. Some ppl are just nasty
prude
Don't pee for 6 hours for a half ironman AND stay properly hydrated.
You need to let it go.
When you have to pee ? Just let it go.
i pee while swimming all the time, several times in the pool jus before flip turning. Yes, i swam into my own pee & i've done it so often, it doesn't gross me out anymore!
A quick number two is also acceptable as long as it is not solid, I guess 😂
