Dear Andy, (Big fan by the way, just wanna say. I live in Australia too, in Brisbane and I mainly fish Moreton Bay) ANYWAYS, onion and ginger ESPECIALLY are great ways to help improve your immune system. That's why most Asian dishes have ginger in them for the majority, you could even take a small slab like the one you cut in the video and stick that to your belly button before you go fishing in some wavy waters, it'll itch at first but that's just the ginger withdrawing your inner body heat (Not your ACTUAL body temperature) :D

About you cutting out the clip of humanely killing the stingray. I think that you should leave it in, because of beginners learning. They may not be able to see how to humanely kill the animal and have it suffering as they try to figure out.

just tried stingray today, couldn't keep them off our baits yesterday so one of them found its way into my cooler. It's absolutely fantastic, I'm shocked more people don't eat it. He was surprisingly easy to clean as well, just 4 quick fillets. Not much meat on him, but what was there was tender, had no fishy taste, and took spice like a champ. 10/10, I'll be seeking them out more often, although the fight is... lackluster at best.

Great video Andy. I live South Florida and am amazed at the similarity of our mangrove and shallows. I like the idea of spearing and stingray are quite common. I have to check our local laws. Loved the use of the Wok in a camp kitchen. Light and versatile. Great job catching and cooking.

    Hi from Malaysia Andy
    Awesome video.
Asam Pedas is a Malaysian favourite. It can be cooked with any fish. If you go to any asam pedas restaurant in Malaysia, you'll find asam pedas barramundi, tenggiri (Spanish mackerel) and of course ikan pari (favourite fish for asam pedas).
Though i love this video I'm a little disappointed because you did not use the correct ingredients. Tomyum, is superb but tomyum is not asam pedas.
There are plenty asam pedas paste product in Malaysia. Either in bottle or packets which works best for outdoor cooking. I hope one day you'll find them and make another asam pedas video hahaha
Oh yeah. Only ocra, eggplant and tomatoes for asam pedas. You can combine ocra and eggplant or use either one. Never beans for authenticity.
Cheers Andy! Keep making videos and I hope you get the new boat soon.
And yes. You said asam pedas ikan pari correctly ✌️

Andy, I am looking at one of your older videos, Let me tell you what I like. I love your national graphic presentation of Australia, I like how you explore and discover, then talk about it to the viewers, I love the catch and cooks, fresh, salt or estuary water catches. Your crapb catches with, craw fish, shrimp, sting rays, octopus, and anything else you catch, then cook. I love your ethics and your countrymen should be proud of how your promote your great country. Cheers, compadre!

I know you got a good scare from a croc in one of your past vids but the episode where you were wading the flats with your fly rod were magic. Especially the flying footage where you were spotting fish from above. No-one else on UA-cam's doing that.
