Fishing with Peter on his Haines Hunter off Cockburn Sound near Garden Island W.A Caught heaps of small cuttlefish and my first ever Arrow Squid, plus my first King George Whiting from that same place.

Heaps of arrow squid here in Tassie, they make a good alternative when the calamari are not on the bite. After your done cleaning them and ensuring you have removed all the membrane from within the inner mantle, the best way to prep them Dom and for all your viewers, is to scoop the flesh out of a kiwi fruit and mash it in a freezer bag then toss in your squid rings or strips in and refrigerate for 20-30 mins max, then rinse out thoroughly prior to cooking. The natural enzyme in the fruit breaks down the protein of the squid leaving the flesh far more tender and great fish tucker. Love your videos Bro!! hope to hear from you.

nice white boat ..prefer your tinny dom..great show as per usual..i like arrow squid as much as calamari..especially the smaller size arrows. the bigger ones especially the calamari to me are a little tougher ....keep it up mate xclnt show..south tassie.

Was that Sunday? I headed out Sunday just after lunch from woodman point boat ramp and thought i seen a dude that looked like you. Fisheries were checking your boat at the car park.

Young mate needs a few tips cuttlefish are great to eat and good for bait. Get an EMU in ya Dom CHEERS
Hey mate. I predominantly use lures for fishing and actually don't eat that much seafood compared to how much I fish. If I do use bait, I prefer squid as it presents on the hook better as a whole bait. Plenty of cuttlefish around and they're quite resilient even after they're out of the water so I'm more than happy to release them to live on. We kept a couple of the larger ones, but there's no point keeping more than you can eat in my opinion, as I don't like freezing my meat.

Aye Dom, tips on finding a good KG spot off ocean reef marina. Have a simlair set up to you but dont wanna go out too far.
Ive never fished off Ocean Reef, i suppose in between weed pacthes and sand beds would be the way to go, hopefully I can try it out up there👍

great vid dom, bit of a change of scenery always good. do you reckon you would ever punch it out to garden island on ur own tinny? with the right safety equipment and a mate of course. thinking i might give it a go once these westerly winds die down in a similar boat to urs
Easily mate. I had a tinny before the Haines (that's me on the video). On good days I used to go off Two Rocks chasing mackies and tuna. Been out the back of Garden Island in it on the 5. Launch from Point Peron, it's much quicker.
The KG spot it's in the sound between the Causeway and Grain Terminal. Never any swell and heaps around, just have to move often.

Yeah mate, V16R with a Yamaha 100hp on the back. Currently building a wavebreaker for it and getting it set up for more rods/trolling for up north. Small boat but powers through the waves and swell really well.
