New gardener here! I have ordered 8 roses from you and all of them are doing well so far. The videos are very helpful and I am watching all of them and learning a lot!
Accidentally find your channel and I started follow you. Your tips are so valuable. I love my roses and I have some issues with. Thanks so much for share knowledge. ❤😊
Excellent information - that bucket watering idea is a great trick! Also I love that rose - what is the name again? And is it available from anyone in The UK? Thank You.
So glad this was helpful! The roses featured are Fragrant Cloud. Here is a link with information about this rose: heirloomroses.com/products/fragrant-cloud
So glad it was helpful! The plug is a wood screw. While it does not perfectly seal in the water, it is a good low-budget solution. You can also fill the bucket in place with a hose.
Hello! Good question, it can take about 3 years for a rose to reach full maturity, and since all our roses are grown on their own root the shoots from the ground are true to the variety. I hope this helps!🌹
Such great videos! Question - You mentioned the bucket being 7-gallon and later 5-gallon. It kinda looks more like 5 gallons to me, but I want to be sure I'm watering my new rose enough. Can you clarify please?
I water my in ground roses with a soaker hose but what about roses in pots? is there a technique to water slowly? i probably could put a soaker hose in the top but not sure that’s really necessary for potted roses.
You can use soaker hose in your pots, but it is less common. Your best bet is probably a watering can. It is still a good idea to take your time watering it.
More said than just water your roses. Thanks for informative video. What are your thought on rabbit manure as a compost. I have tons of it and seems to be working nicely on my shrubs.
I've ordered two roses from you. They are going to be put into containers, that being said, would roses do well in self watering pots or Oya's ?? Thank you
Just received my rose from you. I saw that you said to create the optimal environment for the soil about 24 inches down. We have amazing soil and has been compost it over many years with a lot of worms, but it only goes down about 18 inches. Below that it turns to more of a clay. It’s also a very wet area in North Carolina. So, I elevated the plant slightly above the water line in a mound in order to get the full 24 inches of great soil, and avoid “wet feet.“ I will, of course, keep it nicely watered per your instructions. Does that sound OK? Thank you so much.
So helpful information. I was worry as to how much I should water my roses, we live in Phx it get super hot not as hot anymore currently over 100 degrees. I water my roses morning and evening as I am afraid it's not getting enough water. At the same time I'm afraid I gave it too much water. I always under water my plants I learned a lot the danger of spraying water all over my plants lol. I will stick my finger to see if my roses need water in the morning. I love my plants too much to have it die on me lol. Thank you for the tips!
You can follow the same watering protocol for newly planted roses. It is especially important that new roses are watered deeply. If you plant in the summertime you may need to water your new rose more frequently depending on the heat.
Good question! Here is a link to an article with some more information. heirloomroses.com/blogs/how-to-articles/watering-roses?_gl=1*1roan27*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwtIaVBhBkEiwAsr7-c5wMseuTes2MoWedWu1VYpWHScdno7skEvgby6rbvV1olYwiBlfbyBoC3l8QAvD_BwE
Hi, I just planted my roses in the ground and mulch them well as instructed. Do I water if soil still moist under the mulch? Or the 2-3 times/week watering rule for new rose still applies despite the mulch?
Hello! We recommend testing the soil regularly. You can do this by testing the soil with your finger to know when to water. If your finger is completely dry, your plants need more water. If it is muddy, there might be too much water or not enough drainage. Another indicator of too much watering is yellowing leaves that are soft. Yellowing leaves that are dry and crispy can indicate insufficient watering. If the soil is moist, that will indicate that the watering is just right. You can also use a moisture meter like the one we sell on our website, heirloomroses.com/products/3-in-1-soil-meter-1?_gl=1*3q97hf*_up*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwyJqzBhBaEiwAWDRJVBtKmTEqUpAkc97rRAGiHwnhiPjJmlt8h_PXUY2NWVCvBiasDrzgNBoCBXAQAvD_BwE
If my roses are looking good, as far as the leaves, but they are dropping petals often, am I not watering enough? I have a huge row that are in full hot sun all day and are on a drip. I water every 2-4 days depending on my schedule, but it’s been super hot here this summer, 90s-105 degrees.
Hello, depending on how long the blooms have been on the plant, they can begin to shatter and drop petals. This is very normal. We would recommend deadheading the spent blooms and continuing to water your roses following the guidelines in this video. However, if you think that the blooms are falling apart prematurely, it could mean a watering issue or potentially pests or some other ailment. If this is the case, please reach out to our Customer Care Team. They would be more than happy to assist you farther with the care of your rose! They are available Monday through Friday 5:00 am to 4:00 pm PST at 800-820-0465, by chat at HeirloomRoses.com, or via email at info@heirloomroses.com. Have a beautiful day! 🌹
Why not use a watering stand pipe? Lets air down to the root zone and you can sub irrigate at the same time. Watering on top just makes weed seeds sprout.
I planted a bareroot rosebush the soil is clay so i dug a large hole combined maybe half the soil an half holy cow manure i did this 2 weeks ago we have had alot of rain an the soil stayed soaked for days, so the i noticed the tips of new growth is died off but the original leaves are stlll perky an green, any adive would be SO APPRECIATED. I 've looked for 10 years for this rosebush.. "Camalot " its a salom color an its so beatiful almost like in yours in the video..

Just placed an order for mint mulch, after reading reviews!!!
We highly recommend it! Let us know how it does in your yard.
What are you using to plug your water bucket? Clever idea.
Thanks for asking. I just used a spare woodscrew. It is not perfectly watertight, but it gets the job done.
It is absolutely wonderful 🌱🌹💐 Thank you for what you did 😊 we learned a lot
So glad it was helpful!
What is the name of those roses? The color is beautiful!!!
"Fragrant Cloud."

This was so helpful! Love the bucket idea. Can you tell me the plug you used for that 1/8” hole?
Set your empty bucket in place, then fill with desired amount of water. You don't need a plug.
it looks like a screw to me
So glad it was helpful! The plug is a wood screw. While it does not perfectly seal in the water, it is a good low-budget solution. You can also fill the bucket in place with a hose.
How to get many stems from the ground. Please reply❤

Heyyyyy! Noticed you're posting videos with the roses in bloom in it! That's awesome!
Also how is your wife doing?
Glad you enjoyed seeing the blooms!
@@heirloomroses oh I absolutely did!
I'm sorry if that was too personal of a question
Love the videos, just bought a Eden :) The watering bucket is for more established roses?
Such great videos! Question - You mentioned the bucket being 7-gallon and later 5-gallon. It kinda looks more like 5 gallons to me, but I want to be sure I'm watering my new rose enough. Can you clarify please?
Yes! 5 gallons is a good size.
Going to make some “P” buckets pronto✅
If I make several of these buckets, won’t have to observe the watering process. Brilliant idea!
Good to hear! Please let us know how it goes.

I use soakers as well, especially good here in Oklahoma during the hottest months. And as he said it helps with water evaporation and runoff.
You can use soaker hose in your pots, but it is less common. Your best bet is probably a watering can. It is still a good idea to take your time watering it.
Soaker hose is a great option for those in hot climates and is very effective.

@@heirloomroses great. Thanks for the reply.
What time of day should I spray aphids off?
Great question! Spraying early in the day will allow plants to dry off and be less susceptible to fungal diseases!

The new growth dying off is most likely due to the excess water. Pruning should help!
Love the pee bucket method!
What is the variety of rose you are next to?
6 minutes to say water your roses
If that’s all you got out of this informative video then you should not be planting anything.
FANTASTIC INFORMATION ❤
PEE BUCKET 🪣 idea your wife & U ca.e up with is GENIUS 😅
THANKS 4 taking the time to provide such GREAT education 😊
