"My foreman just arrived to approve the site". That's CLASSIC!!! I feel so connected with you right now, as I have my supervisor Creamsicle checking the progress of my model work all the time!!!
I really appreciate hearing that, I try my best to be honest about when I make a mistake while working on something or when I'm happy with the results.
Some good changes to your track work. That’s the evolution of a layout due to your experiences and increasing knowledge. I really enjoyed watching you do this renovation. Thanks for sharing!
Honestly, although I do personally think that uk locomotives are more beautiful and better in design, you have helped me see american locomotives in a new light and see the beauty in their own style. I thank you.
Great video. This was the first video I've watched that covered adjusting previously completed lines in a layout. It was nice to see that it would be easier than I originally thought.
One time back in 1985, I needed a plate girder deck bridge, maybe 35 scale feet long. I didn't want to wait for six months for my local hobby shop to build up an order for Walthers before I would see it, so I found a damaged Union Pacific gondola, and I painted it black, and built some abutments on each side, and I laid my tracks across what was once the bottom of that gondola, and ballasted it in place. I think I put some milepost numbers on the edge of it, and I had my bridge.
Those pesky rogue rail joiners... Superb track laying Harrison, and a bridge that's built to withstand any tornado or hurricane known to cat. Even the foreman, Nerf Cat, approves. Nice that you chose the BNSF Dash 9 for the test run. Thanks for sharing. 👍🐾👍
New fan here. A bit of a CN/CPKC/UP buff. I just found your content about 2 weeks ago or so. I like the box openings :) I'm actually a content creator for Open Rails (MSTS), since I don't have space for HO or N scale modelling at the moment. I love your layout and your knowledge of all the parts/equipment you work with. Its fun to watch! Thank you :)
I'm glad you're making your layout a proper double-track circuit. That Hiawatha siding and farm will probably have to be sacrificed in the process. I think that one corner should just be single track and end that other curved track just before the crossing.
I love how a layout can constantly evolve if you let it. Some people get set into a hard plan and stick to it no matter what, but adapting a layout over time is part of the fun to me. Want to run steam? Let's put in a roundhouse, coaling station, and water tower. Diesel? A diesel servicing area. Different industries for different freight cars; boxcars, hopper cars, tank cars, auto loaders, double stack container cars... It's hard to fit into a personal layout, but the elegance of a large passenger station with 10+ platforms is a beautiful thing to see; especially if you have the trains operating through it. Change, adapt, and then do it again.
Absolutely, I'm not against planning but if it prevents you from doing anything that's counter productive. The point of a hobby is enjoyment and this layout does just that
Your chairman seems to be pleased with your efforts. Or, not. He might have ulterior motives. You are, after all, a lower level employee. You’re the treat provider and source of entertainment.
Watching your work, reminds me of the old safety videos made for the Santa Fe where the narrator says: "Through the years you will work with Santa Fe, you will learn skills that will promote the safe use of tools. Safety is everyone's business"
I'm glad you took that track plan idea I gave you a few years ago and adopting it to your layout. Where the outside main and now the inside main oross, install plastic rail joiners to separate and isolate tracks to use 2 power packs.
This will be a big change to the layout, but I have a feeling it's really going to make a big difference and most of all it may look better for the future!
Great improvements. I hope the canoeists are OK, there was a lot of plaster falling on them. Must have been a rough day on the river for them. Gotta love the help Nerf Cat inspection, then did some cow tipping for sport.
You did a good job adding on that bridge. That's going to be really cool to have a double track setup. I recently got some front car kits from a flea market ive been too. They were new never built . Then I went to a flea market that I've never been to and I got a Mantua 4-8-0 loco for $20 and it runs it just has the boiler cap that's missing but I can get one somewhere. The guy I was dealing with was going to give me a bunch of buildings and stuff for like twenty bucks I just don't have the room for it. Good video Harrison
Im thankful for our 18 ft by 24 ft o gauge trainboard, but you can do so much more in ho for much less. You have great skills. Keep the videos coming. Gary
Cool layout. What is size dimensions of your layout? From the lamp to the mountain on the other side. I want to build a layout. But I am trying to determine a good length & width to go with.
Hi there,I think the high sided single bridge should go and remove that track and put the high sided bridge where the single black bridge is from the freight yard, it will look a lot better,
Hey smt mainlines do you still have that creepy 1950s steam locomotive that you got from a store from a few day’s ago can you make a restore video out of it please please
You are truly fearless...You made short work out of the addition and you knocked it out in no time at all. I notice that the old road bed came up pretty easy and very cleanly. Was that also glued down with white glue? Love your videos...look forward to seeing the rest of the changes... Rich...
I was taught to not solder rail joiners because the rails expand and contract in different seasons and it can cause issues especially when it expands after being soldered
How much time did this project take you? Something like this seems like it would be a daunting task, but you just got in there and crushed it. Very cool video!
Modificando tu maqueta escala HO. Yo modifiqué mi maqueta escala N. Puse una curva 93/4" de radio marca Life Like. Me salió mal la curva uniendo 2 vías flexibles, fue mala idea, debería comprar curvas 93/4" y rectas 5 " Atlas, paquete de 6.
That bridge must have been the one I saw during an unboxing on your channel. Looking good, Harrison with a little tuft of hair on the chin. When I had my layout up and running I had a double mainline with a double crossover. A double mainline allows more train operations. Cheers from eastern TN
Cat comes in. "hold on there big shot, I gotta make sure everything to code"
"My foreman just arrived to approve the site". That's CLASSIC!!! I feel so connected with you right now, as I have my supervisor Creamsicle checking the progress of my model work all the time!!!
We love your channel because you are authentic.
Agree 100 percent
Ok ngl I thought authentic said autistic
I really appreciate hearing that, I try my best to be honest about when I make a mistake while working on something or when I'm happy with the results.
As an old time railroader it is so refreshing to see a young man like you so active in the hobby. Great videos always.
Some good changes to your track work. That’s the evolution of a layout due to your experiences and increasing knowledge. I really enjoyed watching you do this renovation. Thanks for sharing!
Between the advice I'm given and general experience things get slightly better each time.
Honestly, although I do personally think that uk locomotives are more beautiful and better in design, you have helped me see american locomotives in a new light and see the beauty in their own style. I thank you.
The foreman knows everything about destruction, and the cat Foreman is cool. As usual, You have done well, Harrison
Best boss anyone could ask for lol.
@@SMTMainlinevery cool cat foreman in my opinion
I love when the cat checked out the scenery of the layout
It's nerf cat
Great video. This was the first video I've watched that covered adjusting previously completed lines in a layout. It was nice to see that it would be easier than I originally thought.
Not gonna lie. The moment your cat walked on the bridge, my heart sank😮. Good bridge and great addition to your layout!!!

That's genius, I can see the advantage over waiting.
This is great fun to watch, partly because I have a cat that will probably be walking on my layout too once it's done!
Love your layout.
Would you do a layout tour? Would love to see the yard and engine terminals
Have a great day!!
Love your channel and your videos!
I always enjoy your "working on the railroad" videos and how you explain what your doing and why your doing it!!!!
Thanks, I know they aren't the most often on the channel but I have fun doing them.
Those pesky rogue rail joiners...

Thanks, I built this one to last. Once the rest of it is built it should be a time.
Great work on the layout Harrison. Love your unboxing videos, fixing locomotives, and working on the layout.
Thanks.
Love seeing moving rail lines to new routes. Thanks.
Lmbo when your cat sauntered through your action…so funny at his non-chalant nature!
Great little running session so much going it's mad brilliant thankyou for the video

live streames with 2 mains will be great. glad you went this direction
Once both lines are going it will be far more easy to do two requests at one.
Good project, SMT. Nice changes to your layout, and Ioved seeing Nerf cat helping too.
Awesome to see the boss " nerf cat " came in to inspect the job . Great job
Nice work Harrison cant wait until you have it all work out.
Nice job with the bridge and switch replacement. I like how you re-use older pieces of structures and put them back into the layout!
I figure why not. They are still useable and way cheaper than buying new.
Nerf cat cameo. LOL. Purrfect timing. You make it look so easy. Great job on the bridge. Excellent work as always.
Thanks, it was a fun project. Can't wait to get the rest of the track done.
Great video. Love what you done with the layout.

Not sure if you are interested, but one of the CP Orange units is trailing nose out on CP 112. Should be by Smiths Falls on Monday
I love these videos when he add something new to the layout

That's true, I better watch out that he doesn't write me up for insubordination.
Great track work! You'll love having two lines! I've got two on my layout and it is so much more action!😊
Exactly, I think it will make things far more exciting.
I'm sure your cat appreciates being called "foreman."
“My foreman”
I laughed at that way more than I should have
Nice! Can't wait to see the finished layout and trains running
Looks good. love it
Great job. two track will be fun but with a cross over will be great
Also have the inner loop electrically separate from the outer loop
@@habbyguys I'm not sure if I should or not.

it so good how the layout is SMT your awesome

Good job! I’m sure your layout is going to look like a railroad empire
Also nerf cat demolishing the cows was pretty funny.
Eres muy práctico, gracias por compartir tus experiencias, ¿que radio de curva usa en la maqueta?

I agree, hopefully it will all go together nicely.
Nice job! Looks like they run a bit smoother thru there now too! Love your channel!
Hopefully this will reduce derailments and disconnecting couplers.
Cats on the layout 😂! My cats would be like Godzilla!

They've already dealt with the rapids so I'm sure this was nothing for them lol. Luckily foreman nerf cat was there to check for safety.
Great job Harrison! Im sure your weight inspector gets paid very well with kiblets.
Four cans of food a day with biscuits benefits.

Any plans to redo the crossing near where the streetcar's line is?
Loved the weight test
Nice addition to the layout mate. The new bridge looks great and works quite well.
Cool layout. What is size dimensions of your layout? From the lamp to the mountain on the other side. I want to build a layout. But I am trying to determine a good length & width to go with.
Havnt watched yet but you are getting me back into the Loving of Trains so thank you
That's what it's about! Enjoy the hobby
Well it held nerf cat so its good to go lol. Definitely going to be really nice for when you do live streams.
The foreman made sure everything passed inspection before final install !!
Can you do a full layout tour
“We got a runner!” Beautiful track work! My nerve damage hematoma injury won’t let me be able to do this anymore. 😭😭Beautiful work!
Hi SMT! Do you know any websites that have Amtrak P42's with Dc silent equipped. Anyways, great video!
"passed the weight inspection" Great ad lib dude😋

Hmmmm, does a cork ("dirt") roadbed go with a steel truss bridge?🤔
No way realistically but for my purposes it does.
❤hi i new to your channel i love your trains❤
Great job done (under cat foreman supervision, who did a good job himself at weight tester!!!! :) Salutation de Montreal!!
Hi Harrison great videos love the Forman nerf cat that's great he's a great cat

Nice plan to add double track!

The foreman does a good job 😂
Now that's good, double track around the layout, trains running around both ways, yes
Snap Switches or #4s? (the turnouts that 'wore out')
#4s. The plastic frogs wear down after about 10 years of use unfortunately
nice job SMT looks👍 great
I was taught to not solder rail joiners because the rails expand and contract in different seasons and it can cause issues especially when it expands after being soldered
Always tough to watch a layout get torn up, but you did a great job stitching it back together
What's the best way to contact you?
How do you connect your track together?
Rail joiners.
How much time did this project take you? Something like this seems like it would be a daunting task, but you just got in there and crushed it. Very cool video!
Probably three hours. There was obviously some work done off camera removing ballast and making small adjustments to things.

You have an awesome layout in development your channel is aways very entertaining
When you get it all up those bridges. You should put somebody bungee jumping off one of the bridges
I like it.
You should do videos of you actually building the structures like the bridge, that would be awesome
Nice, that will give you some more options for running trains. That was pretty funny with Nerf Cat showing up right on time!
