42:12 fun fact about this stage: I was almost in a nasty car crash while I was doing this stage cause my dad just barely hit a deer (I was a passenger, not driving obviously) I beat it afterwards
If this video doesn’t have a 30 minute segment about why Jailbreak Tunnel is a sensation in level design and game progression, then is it really worth watching?
TLDR: ZL has glaring flaws but some of its rankings on this list are kinda unfair While I do agree with majority of the video, I do think that a couple of the ZL sub chapters were unfairly rated solely due to a bias against ZL due to some admittedly mediocre to bad subchapters. While imo overall ZL chapters should be higher(not Socrates tho), The main ones I thought were kinda unfair(in subchapter order) were Zero Field: I’m not arguing that’s it’s a better stage than Revival of Origin(I mean revival of origin is my favorite stage in the game), but not allowing it to even be S tier despite still being a really good stage for similar reasoning as to why revival of origin in 4th just seems kinda flawed in logic The ururuvu journals: I mean, it’s super unique, memorable, and obviously pretty coherent as a sub chapter. Putting it in low A is a crime. Cats of a Common Sea: Completely glossing over Sea Cave Habitat, one of if not the only stage in the game where assassin bear doesn’t feel like a cheap gimmick enemy is kinda silly, and accounting for it I would say it deserves A when considering the commentary on other A tiers. Truth in Extremes: This one is pure personal bias from me, as I actually enjoyed this subchapter, but I don’t know how you found either of the stages with lil Angel cyclone “boring”, though I could understand if you thought the levels were samey(though that’s more on the gimmick of the subchapter rather than the specific levels) I do think some of the later sub chapters have ended up pretty weak due to Ponos essentially making some stages into playgrounds for the new ultra forms, and overall I believe that Ponos is being very careful in making sure 3 crown isn’t basically impossible(which is good but has led to some uninspired stage design). We’ll just have to see where the next 36 subchapters go ig
Because I may have been a bit too negative, I would like to this that this is a great video. Had very nice editing and the script didn’t feel repetitive. Just have been a bit peeved with how people tend to automatically let some of the worse ZL subchapters and missed potential change their opinion on some of the really good subchapters
I think the thought of ponos making sure that the 3 star versions of stages arent impossible by making them weak in 1 star is stupid, you could easily just reduce the magnification of 3 stars in the early subchapters to compensate
The fact that the first legend stages are so old that Ponos didn't had many enemies that the could make stages with explains why the first legends have so bad design
26:35 Moon chapter 1 but the enemy in it are changed to their other variants Those Guys=Trolley Blogger Hippoe=Zomboe Jackie Peng=Star Peng Gory=Angelic Gory Kang Roo=Shadow Boxer K The Face=Lowkey
2:44 I remember struggling a bit with sol 10, got here and thought "oh, a break chapter" knowing it's just sol 2 but higher magnification makes that experience make sense
The segment where you're talking about ZL "being bad" honestly sounds like the best argument for ZL being the way it is I guess most people take end game at a face value and just expect it to be hard from the start, i know UL was also at some point considered end game but its first chapters were pretty basic We still have 37 more chapters for ZL and potentially a new typing coming halfway through the saga so there's still a lof of room to work with
Because there's a genuine difficulty elevation between SoL-to-UL than between UL-to-ZL. The stats magnification of enemy in UL is ramped up than what we meet on SoL, they are even stronger than star 3 SoL. The basic level design is necessary to showcase and introduce that things get serious ahead. Meanwhile, the enemy power between ZL and UL stays the same. The stage design is also somewhat lazier than before. It's such an anticlimactic development.
Although my favorite sub-chapter is not in first place (I’m still crying to my pillow because of it) I’m so glad #1 is one of my favorite sub-chapters in the entire game. Also I haven’t even beaten Dogumaru yet so take this with a grain of salt.
Amazing video - it brings back memories of playing through SoL and UL, and all the fun I had in those stages :) I've been on a rather lengthy hiatus, having beaten Zero Luza but haven't started ZL due to lacking some crucial units, I guess the introduction Behemoths was probably what wore me out :V Perhaps one day I will pick up the game again, and re-experience the magic of trekking through Legend Stages - even though it seems like their level design has been pretty questionable, I don't believe that PONOS has lost their touch, and all that is needed is time for them to cook up something great for ZL
Dang I've been on hiatus too, though mine was when I was either at Castle of the Sentinels, Confront the Tyrant or Dead Heat Land, Hell's Crater (I don't remember but I think it's the former). I was off for a while but I finally came back at vacation break. It was definitely due to the huge amount of schoolwork that I had to do at that time, I even remember having two comeback stamps through the school year, where I had completed the first comeback stamps but I had only completed the 2nd comeback stamps about a month or so ago after actually finally coming back to his game due to me not logging in during the school time. I actually contemplated if I should even go back to the game after so many missed events like trash cat (though I did get the catfood, too hard not to pass on that) and some collabs I think. But after watching a couple of battle cats content randomly popping up in my recommendations again I finally had the motivation to play it again. I honestly don't think I'm gonna be playing this game forever, heck, I don't even know if I could finish floor 50 (left at floor 41 due to unit/ability requirements, just having a slow time catching up with the new egg unit metas requiring stones and stage clear missions) in the next infernal tower event since it's probably gonna be a busy school time when it eventually pops up again. Anyways that's enough yapping, just got to tell some weird experience.
It's kind of crazy that this was recommended to me while I am currently in cutpurse Coast. The levels are a nightmare but it feels the most satisfying to beat them out of anything I have done in the game
if you ever do stage/chapter videos again like this, even in smaller capacities, i'd put a "Now playing: (insert stage name)" ontop of any stage footage for better brevity.

tbh i feel like you're a BIT too nihilistic towards the game's future trust me, as a PVZ fan i KNOW when a game's future is fucked, and it ain't it for BC just yet though i do agree Socrates is bullshit and his stage fucking sucks
Figured the harder SOL stages starting with never ending cat story to sushi island would be at the bottom. I think imminent disaster is better than given credit for as it serves as a major progression block because that’s absolutely at the latest when you need to finish aku realms. Dawn of the begining really should’ve had a legend boss because that part of UL REALLY drags. ZL-2 marks a great introduction to what ZL has to throw at you.
@@midtisel4222 I played aku realms on release. Well past doron. it is the only time the game prevents the player from progressing if the aku realms arent beaten.
can you do this but pick one stage (their arguably best one) from each subchapter to rank? Would love to see heavy hitters like No Return Flights, Darkweb, DNA/RHA, No More Bad Dreams, Saint Red Fox and others go head-to-head it'd be easier to rank the stages on their own merits instead of seeing them get bogged down by the garbage that happen to be in their same chapters
A new legend is not a proper entrace (not saying its not hard though) the stage just makes you waste 50 NP on rodio's target relic talent and then you basically never use that talent in any other stage except for maybe typoon nihil.

I was look through the live chat replay and some dipwad at the “a new legends” section said he’s a “hater” and proceeded to say “just get cone”……. I really hope that person was joking….
Memorability wise, me personally 2 stages I never forget is Gestalt, Decay and Last Gang. Gestalt, Decay roadblocked me years ago when I was playing SoL and I was dumb so I didn't know what to do with what I had so I mashed continues to pass it the first time. Spent 210 food before I beat it lmao Last Gang I figured out fast but the first time I didn't know the assassin bears were infinite and I actually wasted 90 food on continues thinking I had it in the bag. My friend who introduced me to the game can say, he was there lmao
what makes me confused the most is how is it even possible to get stuck in UL first stage if you can beat legend stages in first place. stuff get so horrible and not fun at the end that the first ul chapter is completley free compared to all that. esaly at least top 20 best chapter
imo the worst subcrapter is scars of war, it introduces alien enemies in such a boring way and the only somewhat threatening stage is the stage with sunfish jones and gory spam. atleast that’s what i remember from that subchapter
I really don’t get the hate for the socrates fight. I get that it’s restrictive in units, but octo and cyberpunk are only 2 units instead of a whole load out. It’s also the newest legend boss fight so I doubt it’s going to stay as restrictive as it is for long. It seems similar to heavenly tower floor 40 on release. I would rather be required to bring at least 2 specific units than have to perfectly time manic machos.
The Socrates fight is the definition of bad stage design. A stage should have multiple enemies filling different roles in the fight. One stage a enemy could be a pusher and another one could a debuffer here the pusher well pushes and the debuffer weakens your units in one way or another. In another stage there could be a tank and LD enemy where the idea here is to rush down the tank while being chipped away by the LD enemy. The Socrates stage throws all of that out of the window because of how Socrates is built as a unit he fulfills every enemy role he weakens and freezes he has high attack health and he pushes all on his own. Instead of using other enemy’s fill in weak spots he does it him self and it results in a very boring fight we’re you spam two units and hope he dies before he just randomly pushes and kills you. (I’m Sorry for these two paragraph)
@@Zegiomio I mean I guess, but it was still more fun and way more memorable than some of the other legend bosses like li’l nyandam and naala’s boss fight and some of the story bosses like corrupted Valkyrie, cli-one and the last 2 god fights. For my playthrough, I also found it more interesting than ururun’s first boss fight, but that was more because of how I progressed, I neglected SOL almost entirely until I was well into COTC.
@@benji5320 Only reason it’s more memorable is because of how unbalanced and dogshit of a stage it is. And ururun is vastly better, idk how you can even make that comparison

tbh i feel like you're a BIT too nihilistic towards the game's future
trust me, as a PVZ fan i KNOW when a game's future is fucked, and it ain't it for BC just yet
though i do agree Socrates is bullshit and his stage fucking sucks
@@nectarinnasocrates has the best visual design out of any enemy in the game in my opinion
@@bosssnurp5912 disagree but yeah Socrates' design is really good
1:12:25 erm actually the first sol chapter had the same amount, therefore it is tied
i dont even remember any of the chapters enough to be able to rank them💀
Funny how the two most common places for players to quit are where bun bun and one of his variants are introduced
7:10 why is nobody talking about ponos randomly adding a sex joke😭😭😭😭
How is that a sex joke?
Passionate release
Very well made video! Deserves more attention
Now rank every heavenly and infernal tower floor
The Legend Ends, New World Ehen, and Grotesque Gallery are some of my favorite chapters imo
this is probably the perfect video to watch while grinding 3 star UL
Spacetime Distorsion, Humanity Catfied, Grotesque Galery, The Legend Ends, Prince of Darkness. Such memorable chapters to me
Figured the harder SOL stages starting with never ending cat story to sushi island would be at the bottom.
Major progression block???? Bro you beat aku realms at like urs and fenrir not after doron
@@midtisel4222 I played aku realms on release. Well past doron. it is the only time the game prevents the player from progressing if the aku realms arent beaten.
@@midtisel4222I did it at dogumaru 💀
“Harder” and “Never Ending Cat Story” do NOT belong in the same sentence, unless the word “than” is between them
19:37 stop flexing your ultra forms :(
I am glad I have a part into this video
when i see content in this game its crazy to think its a free mobile game
28:26 I was just playing the game while watching this and just unlocked this sub-chapter when he said its name
Passionate release really got me😂. I never realized that.
12:11 “moving on to c cier” 🗣️ 🔥 🔥 🔥
yess I’ve been defending happily ever after for ages it’s a really great stage
Congrats on the thousand day duo streak on yappanese

can you do this but pick one stage (their arguably best one) from each subchapter to rank? Would love to see heavy hitters like No Return Flights, Darkweb, DNA/RHA, No More Bad Dreams, Saint Red Fox and others go head-to-head
it'd be easier to rank the stages on their own merits instead of seeing them get bogged down by the garbage that happen to be in their same chapters
19:08 ROBLOX refrence?????
Canned juice, your voice sounds sooo familiar.. Jeff Nippard by chance?
Finally someone shares my pain of infected king
Holy this video...
How much did it take you to record gameplay of all subchapters?
A new legend is not a proper entrace (not saying its not hard though) the stage just makes you waste 50 NP on rodio's target relic talent and then you basically never use that talent in any other stage except for maybe typoon nihil.
I used rodeo on that infernal tower floor with relic cyclone and aku cyclone
@@bosssnurp5912 rode is a good choice there but cat jobs works there with his weaken, but ur still right tho
Is nobody gonna talk about what he did for Prince of Darkness?
As somebody stuck on cursed blizzard 1:08:57 i can confirm i have overleveled units and are working on manics and im stuck and i know why im missing 7 treasures of itf 2 and like idk 43 of itf 3 becuz i dont wanna treasuere grind atleast i got m lion like alought of my keygacha rares are lvl 45 mainly cyborg and ramen rlly talented high lvl can can with money up lvl 10 attack up and lvl 2 move speed castaway 2 legends lots of ubers i just dont want to treasure grind but i will ;(

I was so scared bun bun that when I saw him in the last stage WOTH NYANDAM i quit progressing SoL and got my first true form which completely destroyed this stage
8:31 what about metafillibuster?
Spacetime Distortion was so fun im in Between Truth and Lies and still remember the last stage being fun
37:26
Jee, I wonder who took the screenshot of this image in specific and saw where it happened
:clueless:
I wonder
just finish the video
GREAT VIDEO MAN ❤❤
46:05 ha last gang this stage i was stuck for over a month and a half and how you menshon it gives me bad memories
What do you think about new zl chapter(secluded cavy island, resort de la corpsa, restricted area), or it will be part 2?
glad u still make vids haha
i like how placement 34 was sol stage 34 51:27
Love ur vids man ❤ keep up!
Im surprised to see grotesque gallery not being even top 15, its one of the most unique if not the most unique sub chapter
The bias against ZL is CRAZY 💀💀💀

Rank your favorite advent boss stages next please. I'd love to see your opinion on some revenge stages. Especially March to death and top dog lol. And also Babies first since that is one I like.
Im glad that the game doesn't peak at a certain point so players are more motivated to continue playing
30:34 Looks like someone forgot to unequip holyblast again...
mr canned juice, is idi stage really worth it? i am currently S U F F E R I N G in 4*, about halfway through.
Really good rusher unit that does big damage against relics, helps to kill them quick especially puffington
IDI is a super good unit, though the grind is quite rough. If you're already that far I would definitely say go for it.
Fun fact I was about to quit because of 99 to the point I only logged in for daily rewards until two weeks ago and then I had a incline in playing
When is the E300 ranking coming out?
hes probably gonna do a 17 hour long video ranking the catamin stages
Wow, only *4* subchapters in F tier? That’s a shock honestly
And barely anything in D tier too, surprisingly
what the flip I love a new legend free my boy relic bun
29:28 because they just do 😂
i nearly fell asleep and was wondering if i slept through cutpurse coast or forgot it
Cant wait to see where grotesque gallery is put.
I don’t remember seeing it anywhere
I was look through the live chat replay and some dipwad at the “a new legends” section said he’s a “hater” and proceeded to say “just get cone”…….
I really hope that person was joking….
ul being fun and a good challenge depend solely on what crown difficulty you play on
Memorability wise, me personally 2 stages I never forget is Gestalt, Decay and Last Gang.
Gestalt, Decay roadblocked me years ago when I was playing SoL and I was dumb so I didn't know what to do with what I had so I mashed continues to pass it the first time. Spent 210 food before I beat it lmao
Last Gang I figured out fast but the first time I didn't know the assassin bears were infinite and I actually wasted 90 food on continues thinking I had it in the bag. My friend who introduced me to the game can say, he was there lmao
My fav is either the uruvuru journals (i think i spelled it right) or humanity catified
Also a big fan of the ururun boss rush. Very memorable.
@@SPZ-gv2on yea but humanity catified is GOATED if u agree
what makes me confused the most is how is it even possible to get stuck in UL first stage if you can beat legend stages in first place. stuff get so horrible and not fun at the end that the first ul chapter is completley free compared to all that. esaly at least top 20 best chapter
just finished catpurse coast powercreep has rlly taken a toll on nrf destroyed the stage with 4 epicfest ubers
Socractis got that banger theme tho
It was watching the video they finally realize it’s uncanny legend, not ultra legend
35:25 yes the 56th sub chaper of SOL
1:14:56 does a lodout with shadow lord gao migty lord gao amaterasu ganglion yukimura and can can count 😂
imo the worst subcrapter is scars of war, it introduces alien enemies in such a boring way and the only somewhat threatening stage is the stage with sunfish jones and gory spam. atleast that’s what i remember from that subchapter
54:35 Mineral Treatment is pure cancer
You did Ethan dirty
Now do a video on ranking EVERY SOL/UL/ZL stage 😂
53:14 i rushed that stage so easily by just using D'arktanyan
I used Gravolodon I think (it’s been so long since I did 1 star sol since 4 star I don’t even know)
I really don’t get the hate for the socrates fight.
I beat the infected king while almost exclusively dealing damage with sniper the heavy because I couldn't hit the camels.
7:08 Interesting…
