Thanks again for the enlightenment! I took a REI wilderness navigation course while in Wisconsin on a business trip several years ago. It was a pretty good course with about 8 folks attending the class. They touched on syncing your compass to a map, terrain features, contour lines, etc. They hid certain objects, (snacks), at different locations so that we could find them using the compass bearings. An enjoyable adventure, however, they did not mention the ticks on the side of the Suunto compass. To be honest, I didn’t even notice them on my MC-2G until I saw your video. I’ll attribute that to the fact that I wear glasses and should be a member of the Old Man’s Club too. Thank you for waking me up and posting the nuances of compass / map navigating. Keep them coming! The weather and insect swarms are starting to become more tolerable for outdoor activities here in SE Georgia so, looking forward to getting outside for camping and actually putting the compass to good use. Appreciate your content! Stay safe!
